  1. Did you tell your mommy too?
  2. Seems to be a whole lotta speculation goin' on in that Green Shift, eh? The carbon tax will be debilitating for everyone and be about as revenue neutral as one recent liberal stroke of genius, the gun registry.
  3. This Conservative doesn't believe anything needs to be done. And, sadly, Stephane will be out of a job by this time tomorrow night, so I guess we won't see his plan in action, either.
  4. Today's Charlottetown Guardian says that recent polling shows a statistical dead heat in Egmont and Malpeque.
  5. He has consistently suggested it. Poorly written? Hehehe. I don't think these is any consensus on this. I am not a scientist. So you agree, the answer is never. Given that there's about a $24b hole in the Green Shift, I don't imagine it being the first. Thanks.
  6. Please, every speech Dion gives (you know, where he calls Harper a liar 18 times without talking about his own policies) gives the impression that revenue neutral = neutral balance sheet for every Canadian. BTW, "Humans caused global warming..". Page 25 of the LPC platform. Why do they claim this as fact? Also, you didn't answer my question. When is the last time a revenue neutral plan, imposed by any party, actually turned out to be revenue neutral?
  7. I think PEI will be a very interesting province, one that no one is talking about. All four ridings have been Liberal for some time, but all four are in play and very close. Islanders hate the carbon tax, and this has hurt the LPC fortunes materially. Earlier this week I would have predicted all 4 to go LPC again, but the momentum has shifted and if the CPC can pick up one or more of these seats, I think it will be an indication of things to come. And Islanders here with any thoughts?
  8. Hey dobby, when's the last time a revenue neutral program actually turned out to be revenue neutral? Gun registry worked out pretty well. As for your explanation of revenue neutral, you are right. But why does Dion keep perpetrating the myth that everyone's increased costs will more or less be offset by tax cuts? Why not admit that it's as much of a redistribution scheme as it is an environmental plan?
  9. You realize that almost all newspapers have had opinion/editorial sections from the beginning of time? They take positions on a whole host of issues, not just elections, and that's leaving aside pervasive bias in the rest of the articles/columns.
  10. When did I say that?
  11. Indeed it does. But surely you will agree that the best day in the history of global stock markets can only help the incumbent, wouldn't you?
  12. Happy Thanksgiving from Prime Minister Harper! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAzZSriYdWE
  13. Of course not. In fact, he suggested not to panic and that last week was a good buying opportunity.
  14. Well, with the markets up 12% today, it certainly doesn't lend much credence to Dion and Layton's ridiculously short-sighted claims that Harper is causing pensioners their retirement or that a steady hand is NOT the right way to go. Anyone making policy decisions based upon short-term fluctations on the market is not a leader.
  15. Sorry, how did I make the wrong call when so far it's proving to be exactly the right call to this point? We hit 8000 twice on Friday, and bounced back. Doesn't mean it won't go down again, but so far so good.
  16. Dow is about to close on its highs, up almost 900 pts! EDIT - Closed up nearly 1,000 points.
  17. World markets were up significantly today, and the Dow Jones is poised for its best one-day point gain in history (600-700 points). With the TSX closed for the day, it's likely to be up huge tomorrow to catch up. I wonder if this will have a positive psychological impact on the electorate in favour of the CPC.
  18. Nanos also published the last three days individually. Yesterday it was CPC 37.1, LPC 26.7, NDP 20.3, Bloc 8.7 and Green 7.1. http://www.nanosresearch.com/election/CPAC...er-13-2008E.pdf
  19. Last Nanos Poll: Conservatives: 34.2 (+1.2) Liberals: 26.7 (+0.7) NDP: 21.4 (-0.6) Greens: 8.2 (-0.8) Bloc Quebecois: 9.5 (-0.5) Undecided: 17 (-1)
  20. H/D and EKOS are pretty much the exact same! I wonder what Nanos will show today.
  21. Latest (last) EKOS poll: Conservatives: 34 (-) Liberals: 26 (-) New Democrats: 18 (-1) Greens: 11 (-) Bloc Quebecois: 10 (-) A couple of interesting snippets: "Conservative supporters do, however, seem more determined than Liberals to go to the polls on Tuesday. And NDP supporters are growing less likely to turn out. Both of these could be significant for deciding the precise level of Liberal success on Tuesday." "The percentage of undecided voters, while fairly small at 8%, has actually inched up in recent days. In Quebec, an astonishing number of respondents – nearly a quarter – say they are “likely” to change their vote intention before going to the polling station." http://www.ekoselection.com/index.php/2008...ctober-13-2008/
  22. hehehe When will you lefties realize that the poin isn't Dion's nearly incomprehensible English, which is in itself a problem, rather, that he as no ecoomic plan? Dion is a buffoon. My cat would be a better leader.
  23. Huh? Zogby nailed 2000, botched 2004.
