  1. Let me ask you that: Where are the internationally agreed upon legal borders of Israel, in your view? Military conquest doesn't count - isn't legal anymore.
  2. The low speed, low cost electric cars that are perfect for the city will not be certified for use in Canada. Get my point? We're forced to buy the big honkin EXPENSIVE electricity guzzlers that suit 905 commuters. (And those who have a piece of the action, I must add.) We don't need commuter cars if we live in the city. We need cheap small city cars. But they are forcing everyone into the expensive market. That's why I think it's a stinking corrupt kickback/monopoly scam, imo. Otherwise, we would already have our cities full of these little cars and the air would be much better already.
  3. I've seen quite a bit of 'defamation' and insults and put downs on here by people defending Israel's blockade and attack on Gaza. Many Jews are active in social justice movements, and while I can't speak for them I have spoken to them. Many are horrified by what Israel has done. Granted, perhaps it's a fine line - the difference between supporting Israel's existence and abhorring Israel's expansion beyond its legal borders. However, I think if, say Canada blockaded Alaska and shelled civilians, the distinction would be pretty easy. The distinction in my mind is ... are they living peacefully within their borders? Israel clearly is not. And it is not anti-semitic to say so any more than it would be anti-Canadian to say Canada shouldn't blockade and shell Alaska.
  4. Well the latest news was not posted and there's plenty to choose from. We should hear from the Federal Court of Appeal soon if they uphold the order for Harper to repatriate him.
  5. I think you argue a lousy case: 3 Israeli citizens killed. 900 Gazan civilians killed. Oh yah, they were really attacking Israeli civilians, weren't they?? Best solution would still be for Israel to withdraw from occupying Gaza and the West Bank.
  6. http://www.canada.com/news/CSIS+slammed+Kh...6308/story.html CSIS slammed for Khadr interrogation Canadian Gitmo detainee assigned civilian lawyer By Steven Edwards, Canwest News ServiceJuly 16, 2009 Canada's spy agency faced criticism Wednesday for the way it interrogated Omar Khadr in 2003--on a day a military court in Guantanamo Bay heard his new attorney will be a civilian once featured on the cover of Super Lawyers magazine. The Canadian Security Intelligence Service failed to consider Khadr's youthful age and possible mistreatment by American officials when its agents interrogated him in Guantanamo Bay, a watchdog committee said in Ottawa. The service also bowed to U. S. demands that the interrogators allow videotaping of the sessions, then provide the Americans with a report, the watchdog group said. This made it impossible for the CSIS agents to assure Khadr anything he said would remain confidential, as policy required. The study by the Security Intelligence Review Committee was launched in the wake of the release last year of the videotapes, which show Khadr crying for his mother and appealing for help. "The time may have come for CSIS to undertake a fundamental reassessment of how it carries out its work," said Gary Filmon, watchdog chairman and former premier of Manitoba. CSIS said in a prepared response that it has "had to adapt to the more recent phenomenon of youth radicalization." It said it would consider the report's findings as it "continues to assess how it deals with this threat." ... Justice has been horribly slow for this child 'soldier' ... but I see some hope dawning. Harper should be ashamed, but I don't think he feels shame. In related news ... Canadian at Gitmo: No military lawyers wanted (AP) – 1 day ago GUANTANAMO BAY NAVAL BASE, Cuba (AP) — A Canadian charged with war crimes reaffirmed on Wednesday his decision to fire his military lawyers, saying he doesn't trust them after an internal dispute over legal strategy. The judge in the case at the Guantanamo jail for terrorism suspects agreed to appoint two new civilian lawyers for Omar Khadr, who declined an offer of a new attorney from the Pentagon. "I don't trust the office of military defense," Khadr told the judge. Khadr, 22, is accused of killing U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Christopher Speer of Albuquerque, New Mexico, with a grenade during a 2002 battle in Afghanistan. He is one of about 20 prisoners whose war crimes trials are on hold as President Barack Obama conducts a formal review of the system for prosecuting Guantanamo detainees in special military tribunals. The Toronto-born Khadr has been represented by Navy Lt. Cmdr. William Kuebler, whose superiors in the Office of Military Commissions sought to fire him in an internal dispute over his handling of the case. At a hearing in May called to resolve the dispute, Khadr said he wanted to dismiss all his military lawyers. Told he had to keep at least one military lawyer, he chose Kuebler. http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/articl..._eT8IAD99F4G400 And I guess we are still waiting for the outcome of the government's appeal of the order to repatriate him ... Ottawa's chilling claim to immunity Jun 28, 2009 04:30 AM Comments on this story (54) Should Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his cabinet have the exclusive right to decide the fate of Canadians who run into legal trouble abroad? And do Canada's courts have no oversight role in these cases? The Federal Court of Appeal is now weighing the matter after a hearing last week in which the federal government's legal team made the sweeping – indeed, chilling – claim that the courts should butt out. http://www.thestar.com/comment/article/657490 I agree. Harper's handling of Omar ... captured as a 15 year old ... has been chilling.
  7. Of course, Israel could have opened the borders to let the civilians flee, but refused to do so. This is a ridiculous argument.
  8. Maybe a quibble but ... China controls everything because they are totalitarian, which does not necessarily equate to communism. Certainly an interesting and informative conversation. Thanks. Seems that to reduce greenhouse gases, every country has to be responsible not just for what they produce in their own country, but also what they cause to be produced elsewhere. To me this points out the value of attaching the pollution costs to the products at the point of purchase, not production. It shouldn't be possible for a country to make reductions simply by shifting manufacturing to another country: We all breathe the same air, ultimately. It's reductions in pollution-prone activities everywhere that are necessary, and the costs of products should reflect their impact on the environment from beginning (eg mining) to end (disposing), imo.
  9. Well that's a relief. I'm very aware of the laws on defamation, so I don't label anyone anything, unless they have already identified themselves by belonging to a white supremacist or neo-nazi organization or openly supporting them, like Paul Fromm, Melissa Guille, Dave Ruud and others. Gary McHale, Jeff Parkinson and Mark Vandermaas deny those connections, but think in the same way, and the neos and supremies come to their anti-native rallies. If you don't realize who these people are, they can suck you in to their white supremacist thinking. That's their M.O. - that's how they recruit. I think it's important for people here to know who they are dealing with.
  10. I think the power stations will be, and perhaps monopoly is the wrong word - restriction of choice perhaps - but I don't see why we can't buy electric cars that are not for highway use.
  11. what do they "do to Israel day in day out." ? http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5ioi_0jtO9RjMwPNRoXNCndRPRq3gD99F2RCO0 Military officers have acknowledged that rules of engagement were relaxed to minimize army casualties but insisted civilians were never targeted. Israel launched the blistering offensive last December after thousands of rocket attacks by Palestinian militants on southern Israel over an eight-year period. More than 1,400 Palestinians, including at least 900 civilians, were killed in the fighting, thousands of homes were destroyed and Gaza's infrastructure was battered, according to Gaza health officials and human rights groups. Israel puts the death toll closer to 1,100 and says most were armed fighters. Thirteen Israelis were killed, including three civilians who died from rocket fire.
  12. accusing Prime Minister Paul Martin of being soft on child porn. -- "Paul Martin Supports Child Pornography" -- Oh man Harper really surrounds himself with guppie morons. We should have seen it coming ... !
  13. There are white supremacist thinkers who don't belong to clubs. I'm pointing out similarities with people from known organizations, for consideration.
  14. The latest action of the Caledonia Peacekeepers: Mayor Trainer and Council 45 Munsee Street North P. O. Box 400 Cayuga, Ontario Canada, N0A 1E0 July 13, 2009 Re: Illegal Smoke Shops Dear Mayor Trainer: I would like to express my appreciation that Haldimand County has taken steps against the illegal smoke shop on Ernie Palmer's property. This is encouraging to the residents of Caledonia. Haldimand County is starting to stand behind their bylaws. I would also like to point out that Mr. Palmer is just an average person - a retired farmer - caught in the middle of a greater problem. To my knowledge Haldimand County has not been willing to enforce their bylaws when it comes to the property owner of DCE, the McGuinty Government, or the property owners where the other smoke shops have been operating for the past 2 years. Can you provide me with the dates when Haldimand County issued fines against the property owners where the other smoke shops are located? This means that there should be fines against Six Nation's Band Council and Hydro One. Furthermore, can you provide me with a list of fines that Haldimand County issued against the McGuinty Government for the endless violations of bylaws that have occurred over the past 3 years? What I am asking is whether Haldimand County is willing to go after the bigger fish that have allowed smoke shops on their properties for over 2 years? Haldimand County didn't spend a year negotiating with Mr. Palmer to have the smoke shop removed. I am wondering when the County will enforce the bylaw(s) against the other property owners. I believe the lack of action by Haldimand County has emboldened these smoke shop owners. Sincerely, Doug Fleming Caledonia Peacekeepers I have no problem with people exercising their right to question our governments. I've heard though that Hydro One unloaded the land to the County recently, and the County is careful about biting the provincial 'hand that feeds them'. Band Council bought the land outright 13 years ago, but the feds haven't 'added it to the reserve' yet. But all worth asking ...again. edit/add I notice he left out one or more smoke shops ... ?
  15. Yup you got the lingo down pat. Just like Gary, Mark and Jeff.
  16. I don't like monopolies, and that's how this is set up. Safety is just their excuse, imo. It just seems like an 'inside job' to me. stinks
  17. Skip the Indian one then. But why can't we use the small ones in the city? It's mostly pedestrians killed in the cities.
  18. Only because we're not allowed to buy the cheap ones. They won't certify them for the highway, and they won't set different standards for the city. India - 85,000 rupees - $2000cdn China - around 5-7000 or cheaper http://img.alibaba.com/photo/202887679_1/electric_car.jpg
  19. I never accused any poster here of being a nazi. mdancer did. I simply laid out the neo nazi/white supremacist composition of Gary McHale's entourage at his rallies, etc. I also pointed out that this board is infested with them, and that members should beware of what they are being talked into, because white supremacist thinking is insidious.
  20. I recall reading last year that McGuinty didn't want to go ahead with smaller cars because of limits to existing infrastructure, that they wanted to roll it all out at once - with battery exchange stations attached to existing gas stns. Power would come from ... (David Crombie et al) http://www.bullfrogpower.com/ So I read back then. It seemed to me that we in the city shouldn't have to wait to get a small cheap electric car until the 905 is equipped with highway-certified cars and battery stations. I think it's a scam - monopolies supported by the government that won't certify smaller cars for city use - to prevent us from buying the cheaper cars.
  21. And have traditionally had restrictions on non-white immigration.
  22. Ya thanks mdancer. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/nation...article1211663/ Two years ago, at his home in Mississauga, the late Oscar Peterson - the jazz legend - was subjected to several incidents of drive-by racial taunts. The incidents hurt him deeply, and made the-then 81-year-old contemplate leaving the country. In Canada, the louts should not be allowed to drive out artists or indeed anyone else. It's racist louts and white supremacists who should have to leave the country, imo.
  23. Do you know who those people were, pictured in the video in Caledonia for McHale/Vandermaas/Parkinson's rallies? Paul Fromm (Stormfront, crusader for Ernst Zundel) Dave Ruud (Northern Alliance) Melissa Guille (Canadian Heritage Front/Alliance), and others not yet identified. These are the neo nazi/white supremacist leaders in Canada ... in Caledonia with Gary McHale. Google em bill ... and decide whether you want to defend them or distance yourself from them so we can know where you stand: Are you one of the white supremacist recruiters or just an unknowing sucker for them? There aren't "vast numbers of people involved in the Caledonia conspiracy": Just a few really bad apples not from Caledonia, and their badapple buddies. However, they do succeed in causing mayhem. They are causing mayhem here on mapleleafweb too. I think it's time people started realizing what they are encouraging here, with their naive and ignorant anti-immigrant and anti-native posts. White supremacists want you! Do you want them?
