But that doesn't mean this system cannot be imporved and changed to better reflect the will of its people. -
22% for the Greens as the second choice? Nice!

The Difference between a Liberal and Conservative

You're good with details, so maybe you can provide us with the following details on the "War on Terror" which comes as part of the "American Dream" package: - total cost - number of casualties - number of civilians killed You could also give us your evaluation as to what REAL goals has the war achieved. Thank you. -

Like: - Over 2 million people in jail, 10,000 of which are under 18; - No national healthcare system; - 33,000 national debt per capita Not to mention Enron, WorldCom and the WHOLE INVESTMENT BANKING collapse. -
Couldn't they wait a little longer and introduce a platform AFTER the election?

Why do we have a Governor General?

The Difference between a Liberal and Conservative

The Liberal Party has shaped and defined Canada into making it what it is today. It's far from perfect but it's even further from the worst. By comparing our country to the US you can see the benefits of our socialist - leaning society. -
Gun Control Doesn't work...Never did, Never will!
PoliticalCitizen replied to wulf42's topic in Political Philosophy
So I'm a troll because you disagree with my opinion? It's hard to envy you then as there must be a lot of trolls in your life... "Bare arms" as in roll up sleeves? I never said I'm against that I do not claim to be Russian - I'm not. I was a citizen of USSR, which was a great example of gun control. Do you personally own a weapon? WHO are you planning to use it against? -

Let the wolves and bears keep the dear population in check. Or food supply. Or natural selection. Taking a life of an animal that you didn't raise when you don't need its flesh for sustenance is wrong. -

Of course there's no such written law, I never said there was. I expressed my OPINION, you are free to disagree with it. -

In China they have gone beyond substances and have banned Falun Gong which teaches how to achieve alternative states of consciousness through breathing. -

Thank you for bringing up farming. A civilian acquiring a gun would be equivalent of a farmer aquiring a tank for driving around and maybe some plowing. -

Animals killed at slaughterhouses were bred and raised by humans and in a sense only exist to be eaten by us. A wild animal has rights. How would YOU like to be hunted? -
Gun Control Doesn't work...Never did, Never will!

That's more of thes same bullshit. It is a simple fact: any gun is an instrument of murder. Should I be allowed to carry around a small nuclear device? It doesn't kill people, does it? -

That's what forums are for, my friend -
Legalize Marijuana and Prostitution
PoliticalCitizen replied to PoliticalCitizen's topic in Political Philosophy
You're overthinking and misinterpreting a simple fact: guns are made to kill. Why would anyone who doesn't want to kill have a gun? Doesn't get any simpler than that. If you want to shoot but not kill buy a paintball gun. Or a rubber dart gun. Or a slingshot. -
The Federal Republic of Canada
PoliticalCitizen replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Look at what's happening in the world and you'll understand that current social structure called "democracy" is far from perfect. No, I find the idea of having a monarch insulting. -
Why do we have a Governor General?
PoliticalCitizen replied to PoliticalCitizen's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Well the world has changed and US does a lot more for us than the English queen. This country's future will be defined by its people who are increasingly less anglo-saxon, and hopefully this whole monarchy thing will be a page of the past soon enough. Will you get a "historical nod of respect" from the former slaves to their former masters? Why should we celbrate being someone's domain and not a FREE INDEPENDENT country? -
The Federal Republic of Canada
PoliticalCitizen replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
A truly multicultural and democratic society cannot be any kind of Monarchy, constitutional or other. The millions of Chinese immigrants do not ask that we put Hu Jintao on our money. But having the queen of England as the head of our state probably makes even less sense to them than it does to me as it is the exact opposite of multiculturalism. As a matter of fact having the English queen as our national symbol deprives Canadians even of their own culture, forget about the cultures brought over by immigrants. -

I obey the laws and I'm true to my oath. I did not swear allegiance to the queen's heirs, and in all fairness she's going to die relatively soon. That could be a good moment to throw away the token monarchy and enjoy a truly free, democratic and multicultural society. -
The Federal Republic of Canada
PoliticalCitizen replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Why not? Let's get rid of Monarchy and then maybe be one of the first countries to step beyond democracy. No. I find it insulting when someone pretends to be holier than others, "appointed by god", or owning my country. -
Harper accepts gift of fancy cowboy boots from Bush
PoliticalCitizen replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
If Harper discredits himself AGAIN by being unable to handle a minority government I don't think there will be need to compare him to Bush.
