Don't miss the Party Leaders' Debates! The French debate runs from 8 – 10 p.m. today and the English from 9 – 11 p.m. tomorrow. Both will be broadcast live on major networks. This will be the first time the Green Party leader, Elisabeth May, participates in the official elections debates! This may also be a time of an all-time low for the Liberals... Don't miss them!

China reports successful space flight

Don't worry, DOP, they've got lots of kosmonauts Much cheaper to produce than safe rockets Besides - given the USA's inability to fly independently in the near future they're way ahead of NASA -
I'm not trying to defend the manufacturers of the herbal extract pills or their lack of quality control. But since the "Natural" products are indeed not (or not supposed to be) synthesized they do not need the same stringent rules and regulations. Just as any food product they should be tested for quality and contents. On this front I'm not just a speaker - I've been taking anywhere from 8 to 12 different "natural" and "food supplement" type of pills daily during the last 4 years, ever since I quit smoking. My overall well-being and energy levels have improved significantly. But I'm not out to sell this stuff. Just like with food - it's everyone's personal choice.

Science with all its concepts and methods is too young and superficial to be able not only to identify but even to admit the possibility of the root cause of most deseases. The only truly effective department of medical science is post-traumatic surgery. For the most part the other departments are concentrating their efforts on dealing with the symptoms rather than the root cause. Short term (a few generations) gains achieved by drugs such as antibiotics can bring long-term (many generations) adverse effects, such as weakened immune system and stronger bacteria. What has the CPC done so far (other than not honouring Kyoto?)

Regardless of the fact that Harper, Howard and Brown are much closer to Homo Sapiens than Bush on the evolutionary ladder they all have to follow the same script. -

So as a result of the kick in the nuts they've only commited political suicide half-way. I guess it was good for them then, kept them alive BTW, BC, isn't it time you change your nick to McCain_Palin2008? -
Segnosaur, I have to recognize you can bring informed arguments to the table. Now that we know each other's positions AND respect them, we can stop arguing and share. Here's my understanding of human health: Energy is life. A person with high energy levels ususally doesn't get sick. A person with very low energy levels can take 10 different prescription drugs and still be sick. There are many commonly accepted ways to increase your energy levels: healthy diet and lifestyle, exercise, outdoor activites etc. There are some less common ways to increase your energy levels: food supplements, natural remedies, meditation etc. Ginseng doesn't require "double-blind" studies to prove its beneficial effects in almost every way. Ginco Biloba is almost in the same category. These supplements sold in the stores have the dosages of active ingredients in the plants regulated. They can do no more harm than salt or sugar. Now about the "environmental science" - there are many opinions and methods. But a quite unambiguous approach would be to say that doing something is better than doing nothing. So far we haven't done much. The Greens have an action plan that they will stick to.

No, Oleg. Anyone who believes prohibition is necessary for things that do not endanger the lives and well-being of people thinks that people are stupid TODAY. -

China reports successful space flight

I'll tell you what China's next immediate goal is... colonization of the Moon! They'll be multiplying on the Moon and mining it before USA or Russia even put a (another) man there. China does nothing that doesn't benefit the People! People need raw materials to manufacture consumer goods. Fame and glory are secondary... -
Substantiate your argument. Carbon tax and policies have worked for Sweden and Denmark. The rise of average life expectancy is due to a higher standard of living and lack of wars. Smallpox may come back with a vengeance as a drug-resistant strain. If you are indeed informed in pharmaceutics as you claim you are you would know how many drug-resistant bacteria strains were discovered recently and how pharma companies have run out of new antibiotics that could cure them. Good examples do not redeem bad examples, especially if the majority are bad. Try reading about the effectiveness of chemo-therapy. You may also find that doctors themselves are saying that they'd rather die than go through it. Not to mention how much it costs... Your post is a very good example of how a person with some knowledge can discredit themselves by assuming their counterpart has even less knowledge... I have worked for a big pharma company for 2.5 years. I am VERY familiar with their inernal policies and have been privy to things that never reach the press. There ARE unexpected side-effects after all the studies are conducted. Sometimes they bring down entire Pharma companies. These companies have mandatory trainings for all employees and contractors that tell them how to deal with the press and even their friends and family when asked unfavourable questions about a certain product. And if you want to tell me that "double-blind" studes are better than thousands of years of practicing natural medicine - that will not compliment your ability to think rationally. As to your claims on knowing more and better - come up with real arguments and we'll discuss

Well then everyone should treat USA as a nation of aboriginal-murdering slavemasters.

I didn't say you're wrong. I just shared another point of view with you. I feel because I choose to. My lifestyle is impossible without USA which makes me indirectly responsible for their agression. But because I'm not moving out of Canada my morals may be absurd to you as I do not practice what I preach. They cannot persuade any thinking person. Or did you mean by force? I didn't mean personally, but collectively as "Europeans". The mongols moved out of most Slavic countries. The European colonists declared themselves American and moved the indigenous population out. We, as in you and me, live on the land of the slaughtered nations. Communists are not a nation. Many Ukrainians were in the Communist party so it cannot be considered genocide. It was, however, a very cruel and unfortunate decision. The American aboriginals were not "out to kill" the Europeans, the opposite is true. It cannot be called a "choice" when it's the only legal thing to do. -

Alcohol was banned some time ago in US also, wasn't it? Didn't hold for too long... Legalization has a very strong effect especially on the young by taking away the "forbidden fruit" status. Once you can legally get it in the store you're just a user, not a really cool guy that has "connections"... Add to that a MoH disclaimer with some scary pictures showing you the adverse effects of usage on the packaging and the magic is completely dispelled... -
For a better definition check google the 2, although my gut feeling tells me you know what they mean already (somehow) I answered your question but you may have chosen not to read the answer or not to acknowledge the fact of reading it. To your accusation of the Russian government I can only tell you this: US government succeeded in brainwashing the whole Western world so well that it probalby bested every propaganda machine ever existed - I have to give it credit for that. It is especially frightening to communicate with people who appear to be quite educated and mentally sophisticated that believe the crap they're fed. I guess the trick is if you repeat a lie for many years it becomes truth in people's minds... I do not think a 9 / 11 would fly in Russia. People like to THINK more there, I guess...
