Can you try to be objective and logical? The Canadian dollar is approaching Parity. There is no reason for Canadians to pay 30 to 40 percent more at the retail level. What about the Sales tax on the Car? You were taxed in earning the money to buy the car and then you are taxed on the money spent to buy the car. After Owning it, you are taxed (plate renewal and emissions). You are taxed on the Insurance premium and taxed on the Oil and Gas used to propel the Car. It appears the Government has quite the racket going on. For the mathematically astute, I am sure a calculation can be made to determine the tax value of the automobile in Canada. Of course it has to be noted retail prices for vehicles is signifacantly higher than the US and Gas is 25% more than the US. You are paying tax on these inflated prices.

A US corporation will pay the Canadian worker an equivalent wage to the US but that wage will not have the same buying power as a US worker because the Canadian worker has to pay retail prices that are 30 to 40 % higher than the US worker. Not sure what industry you are in and what bubble you live in but when the bean counters come forth and the corporation is only interested in looking out for the good of their masters you can be sure it will be at your expense and not theirs. There is a conspiracy on the employers part to deskill the work force. They lure people in with grand titles and have them do useless work until they start drifting into the red and cut you loose to pick up a new immigrant to Canada at the half the wage. You have to let the stats speak for themselves. 1 in 10 jobs use to be through employment Agencies in Ontario, that stat became 1 in 4 jobs through Ontario Government Corruption. Employment Agencies are typically looking for experience and education. You don't measure up you are pushed aside. When looking for work in Canada it not 8% unemployment but really 16 or 20 percent because you are competing against new immigrants and others who looking to change up their employment. On that, where is the leverage to get the employer to pay much more than minimum wage? The only time it appears an employer will pay is if there is a threat of unionization, a union, or other regulatory requirement for that occupation. If there isn't, you can be sure the business will come out in them, and they will do everything they can to pay as little as they can. In Ontario there are many Big Big Corporations who use Employment Agencies as a way of business. These Jobs have advertised a pay of 11 dollars for the last ten years. They have not increase this rate even though the minimum wage has gone up 3.40 cents in Ontario. Why will these autoparts supplier not raise their pay rate? Not Really, because the US also gets their products from China yet Canada has higher Retail Costs. Why is that? This is in part because the US doesn't have a GST and they have a lower minimum wage. Canada has higher retail costs than the US. We have free trade. That means if I were a retailer I could drive down to the US and BUY from the same wholesaler who provides products for the retailers in the US. What's happening in the shuffle? Perhaps the real solution is to establish a minimum wage for Retail sales & service (same as US) and a different minimum wage for non Retail. There is no such thing as a Free lunch. As I have said if you work for a US employer and they pay You the same wage as a US worker, you make less money because your money is being taken from you through inflated retail prices over the US. You have to recognize each province were each colonies onto themselves separate from Canada and they each answered to the the British Monarch via the British Parliament. The last colony to enter Canada was newfoundland. Disputes between the colonies and the British Monarch have been deferred to the international court since 1970's. This means Canada's parliament can Act against each province, if the Province protests they can elevate the matter to the British Monarch or the International Court for their decision. However, Canada's parliament has been established to govern over Canada. In this Governoring as was done by the United States Congress it is within their right to pass reasonable legislation to Protect the interests of Canada as a whole. Having an Unbalanced minimum wage compared to neighboring US states drives up retail costs. If the province (former colonies) feels minimum wage is their sovereign area they can raise the dipute with the British Monarch or the International Court. Ultimately, the province will lose because it would be recognized the Federal parliament does have the right to protect the interests of the whole country.

All the court can do is throw out legislation, afterwhich new legislation can be introduced. The Supreme Court is an instrument of Canada, not an instrument to preserve the power of Ontario. I am saying if Ontario doesn't like a decision made by the supreme court, or Canada's parliament doesn't like the decision of the supreme court it can be elevated to a world court. He is acting like he works in Retail. I am saying he should aim higher.
