Ignatieff: 'no guarantee' on EI reforms
Alta4ever replied to Sir Bandelot's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Ignatieff lost big on this one, he has shown himself to be even lower on the poll then Dion when it comes to Liberal leaders. Lets review his post convention bounce less then Dion, his ability to back peddle even greater then Dion. So what is the new Liberal Leader, an aloof wishy washy Harvard professor American wanna be who's greatest virtue is that of backpedaling on ever single issue he gets called on. The only difference between Ignatieff and Dion, Ignatieff speaks clearer english. -
To me this sounds like the antithesis of patronage appointments, you lost you job too bad, I'm not just going to make another up in the public sector for you to fill, because you were an MP or tory staffer.
-
I could solve these problems for you with one quick simple answer. Smaller government smaller bueacracy, in others words get rid of most postitions, privatize most everything else. Government is not a service provider it is a service liability, far out essential funkions to private corporations and get rid of the public unions.

And giving in to special interests isn't running a country either.

Court orders Ottawa to let Abdelrazik return to Canada
Alta4ever replied to Smallc's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
No we don't. -
No it would be easy, I could go and cut probably 10 billion out of the budget by defunding useless government programs. I would be able to do this since I don't listen to "special interests".

I see nothing in the consitution about having a right to board airlines though. -
MOre taxing doesn't solve the problem neither does waiting it out with budget deficits, the solution is to cut back the budgetary spending, and reduce the size of our over bloated government.

Sacrificing Healthcare to Pay for Carbon
Alta4ever replied to Riverwind's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Ahh now your are talking about human arrogance. For these people, they think they can control everything, and can adapt people, society and even the planet itself to their will, when what they should be doing is adapting themselves to the changes that are always happening around them. -

Did you read the artical he was stuck there for six years, that means the liberals stranded him, the conservatives continued the policy. So in summary your precious liberals are just as guilty. -
Canadian soldiers cleared of alleged Taliban abuse
Alta4ever replied to Army Guy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
So why are you so vocal about something we are already doing? -
Canadian soldiers cleared of alleged Taliban abuse
Alta4ever replied to Army Guy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
If I was a veteran, I would find this very insulting. We were not spectators in those years we were active participants. We fought that war and subsequent wars by the Geneva convention, we have never, never advocated or conducted military matters in this country in contravention of the Geneva convention. -

Do you not think that this something that western governments and militarys hold as a goal? They have been doing their utmost to creat build and field precision weapons to limit civilian causalties. The advances made in these capablities are phenominal over the last 50 years. Considering acurate bombing in WWII was within 5 miles of the target now we are looking at acuracey within meters of a target. -

We stay there and draw their fire, until such a day the people of the country are able to defend themselves from the taliban eventually they will give up and go home. Strike at the strong holds we know about and disrupt their supply of people and material. For the most part you do what has been done throughout history create strong points and garrisons to support and protect the local people, until the insurgency peters out. This is the only strategy that has ever worked in military history and can take a very long time, Generations. Counter insurgency operations that work are never quick and full of brilliant maneuver, its a long slog. -
What exactly is it you are giving then Man NDP credit for? Mostg if not all of the major industries in Manitoba were started by or regulated by the federal government.

We aren't nor are we turning into that. You fail to understand or realize most of the ill will the world has toward the west is becuase we turn tail and leave people in the lurch instead of seeing our commitments through, and when the west did leave those conflicts, police actions or whatever the word is for them now, we did not leave with our "prinicples" intact. We left those people high and dry. -

You are killing them by abandoning them and leaving them to fend for themselves against murders, thugs, and terrorists. -
There is not a province in this country that voted for an NDP provincial government that wasn't run into the ground by that same government.
