  1. Williams is a disgrace and the federal government should impose trusteeship over Newfoundland and Labrador. It's time to merge the four Atlantic provinces anyways. If you gave Canadians the option I am sure they would vote to abolish the provinces altogether.
  2. `Kemosabe' complaint may go to top court Another put down of our First Nations people by whity. What were those NS courts thinking with their absurd ruling? Of course it was being used in a rascist and discriminatory way and the Supreme Court should take it on and throw the book at those white sickos, the Muellers.
  3. Rabble has a zero tolerance rule for homophobes.
  4. I think it was surrounding some homophobic bigotry issue.
  5. Seriously what would you do about signage if you were an Asian shopkeeper in Richmond, BC? I know what I would do - I would design signage that would appeal to as many potential customers as possible. On the other hand I have concerns about immigrants coming to Canada and not learning one of our official languages, so maybe Canada needs to insist upon at least one official language on a sign. Whatever if you are hungry you will find a way to eat. I remember being in Tokyo and all the signage was in Japanese, that most North Americans cannot read nor speak. The Japanese solved the problem by having pictures of the different food dishes in both the windows and in the menus. When you were ready to order you just pointed to the picture of what you wanted to eat.
  6. Charity is rich man's code for low taxes and screw the less privileged. If there was goodwill these land claim issues would be on the front burner not the back burner. Education is the key for a successful future but the question is how can education be provided if the poverty is too much, and kids can't focus on their studies because they have not had a nutritional breakfast in the morning, etc. .
  7. Bribery and fraud charges laid against former political aides There is no question that December seems to bring out the worst possible news for the BC Liberals. It appears however this time the bad news for these folks is going to hang in there right up until and including May, 2005. My preference would be to have a bunch of dumb but honest left-wingers in power, rather than a bunch of smart crooked right-wingers. What about you?
  8. These are quite serious charges made by the police. The BC Liberals must be freaking out with the prospects of this trial going ahead right in the middle of the lead-up to the May, 2005 election. Charges laid nearly a year after police raid on B.C. legislature
  9. well I belive to hear you must first listen Your posts are a lot like augusts - a lot of mumbo-jumbo.
  10. You are a bit confused - the North Vancouver proposal was to restrict the big rigs to the right lane. When vehicles wish to exit all they do is turn right, as 99% of the exits are off to the right. As a result traffic will flow better for commuters and the roads will be safer. An additional feature would help as well is for all trucks to have governors installed so they are unable to speed. Speed governors must
  11. So far I have not heard one valid argument against the suggestion that trucks be restricted to the right lane. It is a safety issue, as well as as a traffic flow issue. And it is a quality of life issue for our daily commuters. Another part of thre problem which has not even been discussed is the size of the trucks. They are much too big for most of our roads.
  12. Some of you you folks are all getting carried away, don't you think? All that was suggested was that trucks be banned from the left or fast lanes, as they are too dangerous to be traveling at excessive speeds. Actually all vehicles should be traveling in the right lanes anyways except to pass, and trucks should be restricted to the slower lanes for safety reasons. No big deal and hardly a complication for trucks. And all the truck drivers should unionize themselves if they are unhappy with their working conditions.
  13. August1991....talking about credibility why were you banned at Rabble?
  14. Interestingly enough the folks in North Vancouver are considering quality of life over profits. If the fascists want to call them commies so be it, and quite frankly who cares.
  15. Former B.C. aide back in court Jan. The plot thickens. Interestingly enough the article omitted to mention Basi's connection to PM Martin.
  16. The reality is Canadians arew going to have to cut back on trucking - the environment cannot handle it. We would be a lot better off using local produce, eating what we grow close to home as much as possible. And using locally made products, much more than we do.
  17. Pitiful useless comments from someone who has no substance to their arguments, so has to resort to personal putdowns. How sad! The citizens of the country pay for the roads and have always paid for the road system. The road system is highly subsidized by all Canadians. It is a sop to the transportation industry through their secret lobbyists working in the dark corridors of power in Ottawa and the provinces. Please check your facts before you start blurting out nonsense. I suppose the people of North Vancouver and their municipal representatives who are debating the issue tonite are all nuts as well, eh!
  18. What truck drivers do, and why I am in favour of this no left lane rule for trucks, is pull out to pass another truck and completely block both lanes of traffic. I have seen this way too often and the travelling public is inconvenienced. Trucks need to be restricted to the right lane unless they are turning left. I agree about not passing on the right but that is another issue.
  19. The City of North Vancouver is deciding tonite whether or not to ban big trucks from using the left lane. I hope they decide to go ahead with this idea as it will lead to slower trucks on the roads, and as a result less accidents. For way too long the trucking industry has been been bullying the travelling public on the roads with their big vehicles tying up traffic, and it is time to put a stop to it. I also think big trucks should be severely restricted as to when and where they can travel on city streets.
  20. BC Liberals are hreading in one direction: Due South Liberals fighting perception of slippage
  21. CAPABLE OF INFLICTING SERIOUS HARM I don't know how many countries have yet addressed this issue of knife control but it seems that Australia, Ireland, and England have, or or at least are looking at it. Canada will soon be up there with them.
  22. If we didn't have people walking around with guns and knives do you think the homicide rates would be lower? Of course they would. Too easy access to weapons makes for a very dangerous society. Look at the US - it's almost a war zone there. Is that what you want? Guns and knives are used to attack, injure, and kill people. What do you think guns are here for - target practice? Guns are a weapon used to kill people, and so is a knife. A knife is a cutting blade attached to a handle, that is what is being used to attack people with. It's not complicated. You have a serial number engraved on the blade at time of manufacture. Anything more than a 3 inch blade would require registration. Lots of other products have serial numbers and are registered. Yup this would help a lot, but of course it would not solve everything. Severe prison sentencing for violators would also be useful. Whatever happened to hard labour in the prison system or was that just for TV shows? Did Canada ever have hard labour in its prisons?
  23. I think Canada should have made the gun manufacturers, rather than the taxpayers, pay for our gun control system. After all a gun's purpose is to kill. Just lke a mining company should pay for damage to the environment, the gun lobby should be made to pay for the gun pollution. The knife manufacturers should pay for knife control. Stab victims' parents urge action More than 3 inches - five years. I like it.
  24. PET I wonder what the Hansard of the day recorded.
  25. How many years does one get for carrying around an unlicensed hangun? I propose a sentence of 5 years for carrying around an unlicensed knife!
