  1. A right-winger attacks global warming I suppose we will have to wait for a major catastophic event for the few remaining people to be convinced. Kinda reminds me of the people who don't believe in dinasaurs either, eh! Of course a lot of the people who post here at mapleleafweb remind me of the dinasaurs as well.
  2. Obviously the government agencies are in cahoots with the industry, so of course we will continuously get these glowing accounts about how wonderful everything is. Time to wake up and live in the real world, and stop believing all the absurd industry propaganda. WHEN IT COMES TO FOOD SAFETY, WHO’S WATCHING THE WATCHDOGS? /708
  3. That doesn't appear to be the case, as both Canadians and US are saying that this case will not change the border plans. This is a ten year old cow, and no parts of it have entered the food chain. She was born before the feed ban. Cases like this are expected and will be dealt with. Officials recognize mad cow may be here to stay What kind of moronic thinking would make one believe the press releases of the cattle industry. We need even just a wee bit of critical thinking here. As I have said, and as any independent unbiased research has pointed out: MAD COW DISEASE IS HERE TO STAY!!! Time for all of us to become vegetarians.
  4. Are you in favour of lowering taxes therby depriving our children of protection? Do you really think Cody should be left with his Mom?
  5. You are too caught up in the BS of the industry - it's all about money. Canadian scientists were fired for speaking out and telling the truth about BSE.
  6. We need high taxes to protect the children we already have in our society. All worthwhile studies have shown that high taxes lead to less poverty and a better environment for children. Canada's Northern sisters have shown the way!
  7. Interesting choice and shows how different mainstream society is from these discussion boards. it is obvious there is a massive coverup going on over Arar's situation and will Canadians ever learn the truth - who knows!
  8. Bring in tax cuts and you will NOT have government resouces to intervene in the case of Cody who was mauled to death by dogs. Is that what you want - I don't! I want our defenceless children protected in society and we need to raise taxes not lower them to do that. Children have rights!!! That is the difference between Conservatives and the rest of society. The rest of society cares more about kids than having tax cuts. /119
  9. Are you having a celebration this evening? Will you be drinking and driving? Or are you attending an alcohol free event like in the Vancouver Public Library area this evening? Or will you wait and celebrate New Year's on February 9? What are your goals for the coming year? Do you have any predictions? I forecast that the mighty will tumble - in BC the Campbell Liberals surrounded by incompetence and scandals will lose the election in May, and the Green Party will not win one seat. I also forecast Larry Campbell, Mayor of Vancouver, and a progressive slate will get reelected. I also forcast there will be no federal election in 2005, PM Martin will continue to stumble, Harper however will not pick up the slack, and Layton will continue to have positve performance ratings. In the US the 2004 election will continue to smoulder in Ohio concerning vote fraud or vote rigging. Annan will continue in his role at the UN. The US quagmire in Iraq will continue. There will be more earthquakes. Same-sex marriage will continue to gain support and will eventually fad from public view. Canada's gun control will continue to inflame the few gun nuts however it is here to stay. Pressure will mount on politicians to ban dangerous animals and some provinces will follow Ontario's lead in banning them. The Canadian dolla and the Price of gold will be higher. Basically there will be ups and downs overall however things will be more positive than negative.
  10. Letter to the editor in the Van Sun today and I have quoted bits of it: This is an excellent letter and my sentiments exactly. What's it going to take for Canadians to wake up and put a stop to these atrocities? /208
  11. Older Animal Fits Mad Cow Profile - Canada Expert Follow the money folks - this is a multi-billion dollar industry and lots of games are afoot.
  12. Impact of suspected BSE case downplayed You are missing the point. That is like going to the tobacco industry for an opinion on whether or not cigarettes are harmful to one's health. Everything I have heard suggests North American BSE problems are far from over. These preliminary test results tend to confirm my suspicions. /662
  13. It is only a matter of time before things really erupt. Of course the initial tests results show positive for BSE - otherwise why the uproar. They are just waiting confirmation from a third test which takes 3-4 days. North America does not properly test its animals and is now paying the price for scrimping on safety issues.
  14. Thank goodness for taxes. Now at least it looks like the government is being forced to intervene and take the surviving children away from their mother. Unfortunately but realistically governments have to intervene to protect children from abusive situations.
  15. Apparently it is a 10 year old dairy cow from Alberta.
  16. I heard that the latest animal suspected of having BSE is from BC. Did anyone else hear that?
  17. For those of you who do not think that BSE is a major problem in North America, think again. New mad cow case detected in Canada
  18. Actually I have given this issue a lot of thought and all dogs that attack like this need to be destroyed, the species banned, and the human owners charged. A 3 year old defenceless child was maulled to death!
  19. There is no place in a civilized society for rotweillers or any other vicious dogs. We need to ban them and ban them fast. Maybe a few criminal & civil charges against the owners will make people realize these dogs are not the wonderful asset they think they are. These dogs are a menace to society. I like dogs just as much as anyone here, but there are limits. And when human beings are placed in jeopardy because of these terrible killers, the line has been crossed. And BTW poodles don't kill kids! /112
  20. A couple of years ago dogs attacked a teenage girl in the Lower Mainland and nothing was done by the government to put forward legislation to address the issue. Now 3-4 dogs have killed a small child left unattended while adults slept in the Maple Ridge area of BC. There must be one powerful dog group secretly lobbying behind the scenes. It is very sad that the BC Campbell government ignored the previous attack two years ago. What is it going to take to get rid of these dogs? Tragic as it is for the Mom, it is more tragic for the boy, and both dog owners should be charged, as it is the protection of the child that is at stake here. This is what happens when one takes the law in one's own hands. Using dogs for guarding homes should be banned as well. Boy, 3, dies after dog attack /82
  21. Seasons Greetings to everyone during the upcoming holiday period, especially those who are alone, ill, or poor. It can be overwhelming at this time of year with all the advertising BS to purchase everything under the sun - that is what the mute button on your remote is for. If you need to, take advantage of the various activities and/or resources in your respective communities such as food banks, meals, etc. Don't be afraid to ask for assistance as it it your right as a Canadian to be well fed, sheltered, and medically cared for.
  22. Yea and get fired in the process. Get real - it was a racist decision by the NS court. Thank goodness there is going to be an appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada. A large part of the problem with provincial jurisdiction is that the decisions made are very provincial in nature, and usually quite behind the times. Hopefully the average Canadian has progressed more than the dinasaurs in NS courts.
  23. Has anyone heard whether this motion was adopted by the North Van District council? I think if we did a poll on favourite areas to live in Canada, North Vancouver would top or come very close to topping the list. Quality of life factors are huge there. It's a great place! Bylaw would ban trucks from left lane
  24. The North Shore comprises West Van and North Van. North Van includes North Van District and North Van Muncipality.
  25. Your use of the term "whity" is offensive. Tough! Kimmy.......you obviously don't have much experience in life. There is a power dynamic between employer and employee with the employer holding all the cards obviously, as the courts when the issue was brought to their attention sided with the employer in a despicable ruling. Had the employee spoken up the employee would have been fired. Sounds like that place should be unionized by the CAW or some other progressive union.
