  1. I don't think NS power should be let off the hook so easily. When it was privatized the brilliant executives substantially cut back the work force. No wonder power has not been restored. The executives need to get the boot, and NS Power needs to be brought back into the public sphere where it belongs. Let's have a little critical analysis, instead of the typical Canadian hand-wringing, eh!
  2. Cartman....good perception & interpretation.. BBM is a student, a high school student, I believe. While I may disagree with his political persuasion, or political point of view, just because he does not yet pay taxes, should have no bearing on whether he is entitled to his opinion. I actually respect him to get involved in such a discussion forum and wish BBM well in his future political endeavours. Maybe BBM will become premier of Ontario some day. And if he does good on him. We will be able to say we knew him whem.........
  3. Do you remember when all those seniors died in France a couple of summers ago? Anyway with all these people dying thanks to our pollution, should we call it assisted-suicide? Greg....don't hesitate to aid your two cents, FWIW.
  4. Cartman....I agree Clark was framed with the help of you know who. And Dosanjh didn't do Clark any favours either. Sometimes I wonder if he was a plant from the beginning.
  5. Do you remember what was found in the rented vehicle followed the September 11 attacks?
  6. RCMP commissioner signed papers approving B.C. legislature raids It makes one think that the RCMP must have had substantive evidence if they would get the commissioner involved.
  7. Conservative financial prowess: Enactment would raise the government's borrowing limit to $8.18 trillion And you wonder why the US dolla is sinking like a stone.
  8. Believe it or not, people who don't pay a lot of tax, or no taxes, are still entilted to be treated as human beings. Low income Canadians, such as students, seniors, minimum wage earners, are still citizens of Canada and entitled to respect. Since when is basing whether some pays taxes or not, make any difference? Taxes, while not popular, by-the-way, are a very important part of why we have governments. To redistribute the wealth in our society.
  9. kimmy.....time to roll up your sleeves and get to work. Just work 8 hours a day, and sleep 8 hours a day, and you will do fine, as long as they are not the same 8 hours.
  10. Politically this must be quite devastating for the Saskatchewan Party. The Saskatchewan Party reminds me in some ways of the Democratic Party in the US. Close but no cigar. There they were, figuring they had the next election all wrapped up, and along came Calvert's NDP Government, with their superb financial manouvering, producing these great budgets. Why fight success. Oh well, c'est la vie.
  11. Gold Rises to 16-Year High; US Dollar Falls to Record Against Euro Looking at the gold charts, the momentum is for more of a rise in the price of gold. It has been a long time since we have seen these prices. Hummm.
  12. Science ; Ozone blamed in thousands of deaths annually: study Finally some concrete data that the scientific community has been warning us about for a long time. We ignore these scientists at our peril. Thanks oil industy and other major polluters.
  13. The NDP government in Sastatchewan reached a major achievement today - Saskatchewan is no longer a have not province. Anyone else tired of the nonsense that that NDP governments don't know how to manage the economy.
  14. There goes gold. Up again over $4. at the moment today. kimmy....you need to chill man, it's only money! What's bizarre are the European Bankers comments.
  15. Beyond Fallujah Interestin' commentary by a Canadian journalist - not quite the kinda news we get in our daily mass media hype.
  16. Right. Tell that to Hussan's family.
  17. This seems a little bizarre: Europe pleads with US to bolster dollar
  18. I think it has been a mistake that any Canadian government was allowed to acquire borrowing privileges. Gee, I wonder how that came about.
  19. PM offers to help run Palestinian elections This is a good move on PM Martin's part, keeping Canada neutral, and helping out. Canadians will support this initiative. Anyone sent there though should make sure they are wearing their bullet-proof vest, etc.
  20. If the climate is that bad, then why haven't the power companies planned for it, and laid the power cables underground. Yes. yes, it is more expensive, but not that expensive if it done over a period of time. Sounds like very lousy planning to me. I bet you they have large profits and I say nationalize the incompetent bastards, or scam artists perhaps would be a better description.
  21. Not too sure where you are headed with this comment. It seems a bit strange.
  22. Yup, no tax cuts with the now $8.9 billion surplus. Apart from the social programs some of it will be going towards paying down the debt.
  23. Defending us from what - the polar bears? I think if you asked Canadians where our biggest threat comes from they would say the US. Seriously though, who is going to attack us? We have heard about what a dilapadated military we have, and these threats of a bogeyman that is going to come and take us over, for close to 60 years. Fortunately no one wants us. If someone invades us, trust me Canadians will be there. That is all we need apart from our peacekeeping missions..
  24. Leaders don't usually surround themselves with independent thinkers. It is more often "yes" people. Loyalty overrides just about anything else in politics.
