  1. That's actually pretty funny. Thanks for the invite. I've been saying it's a good idea. I'd vote for Duceppe. psst. maybe if we ignore him he'll go away
  2. As a Liberal, you should understand that opportunity doesn't just include money but power as well and in Belinda's case probably popularity. Exactly. I'll never understand why that little punk get's any press.
  3. You're right it's not going to happen all at once. Like I said, just a little at a time. Now, now you know it's a lot more than that. Hey care to make a wager on "land slide Annie" in the next election?
  4. It does but at what point is a moderate conservative just a liberal? Her excuse for leaving is the vote to bring down the government? Then she adds a few disparaging comments about Harper, but oh she "doesn't want to get personal". You have to ask yourself what are the real reasons she's leaving. I think it has to do with the realization that the Con's won't do very well in Ontario in the next election and that she barely won last time. And most importantly she's been bought off by the liberals. As for being a Paris Hilton, though obviously an exageration, the resemblances are strikingly similar. She was born into her status and wealth, she's a socialite, and she doesn't come off as very bright. I'm all for young women in the party, but I've always felt besides her vote in parliament, she was a liablity rather than an asset.
  5. Ya I know I meant to say it will increase support for western separation. Little by little support for it grows. If the libs win again it'll help, if they keep implementing programs like Kyoto and gun control it helps, if Quebec goes it helps.... I'm not sure how we've squandered a golden opportunity. By not becoming "Liberal light"? The true strikes against us are that Harper is falsely portrayed by the media as not being from Ontario, being extreme, being boring (ironically this week he's somehow "too angry"). It's a tough fight.
  6. Spoken like a true Conservative. I wonder why, with attitudes towards women like that, why women don't vote for the Con party, and why Belinda left. Bravo, thank you for proving my point. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Trying to equivocate the meaning of my comment.... Spoken like a true liberal.
  7. WTF Kimmy? Your support of the CPC hinges on Canada's Paris Hilton? That's pretty weak if you ask me.
  8. What a shocker! I guess Martin made her "an offer she couldn't refuse". I think she's a political prostitute. There's not much difference between the CPC then and now. Harper is right when he says "a red tory is just a euphemism for liberal", she's always just been a conservative in name only. Don't gloat to much fella's. This just solidify's western conservative support and probably further secures support for BQ.
  9. I agree. We are too diverse to work together effectively. However, I would support a little bit of aid to the have not regions. That being said I think taking them of total life support would inspire some ingenuity and motivation. After all, necessity is the mother of all inventions. Good post Bak.
  10. Wow Sweal I'm actually pretty impressed with your answers. Perhaps you really are a classical liberal. I'm curious, why you are so opposed to the CPC?
  11. No one's for free speech more than I am, but I think there are certain area's where this doesn't apply. The raping of children on film is one of those areas. What do you think? Should we allow Nazi's the right to burn crosses and express their hate everywhere? How about serial killers? Should they be allowed to artistically express themselves by detailing their attrocities and making money off it? Oddly the radical left is very protective of similar behaviour. Like the embracing of Eminem and his talk of killing his wife, homosexuals, the president and his mother. Another great example of art in it's purest form .
  12. Ya maybe, what's a more accurate word... hegemony perhaps? We've discussed this quite a bit on this forum. I think most would agree that our system is not truly democratic. Some regions have a disportionate amount of power compared to others. Ontario, specifically the GTA, is one of those regions. And I would change "being generous with their money" to "being generous with other's money.
  13. I guarantee you neither Quebec nor the US would be very interested in this type of a union. I'm sure the US would make some pretty sweet trade deals with Quebec to use as leverage against the rest of Canada, but they'll never want to deal with the baggage Quebec would bring with them in becoming a state. And Paul Martin is encouraging this with his different deal for everyone. This will, with out a doubt, create jealousy and alienation between the different regions. This guy is the perfect catalyst for the balkanization of Canada. With respect to Alberta, although joining the US would be better than what we have now, I'm not sure we'd go for it. We're pretty independent and are a good example of how a combination of Canadian and US ideals can work well. But we may not have any alternative without access to the sea. I think the Maritimes would fit in well with the US. However, I'm not sure how either the Maritimes or Ontario would survive outside of the co-dependent relationship they enjoy. I'm not sure Ontario would feel it had much of a purpose not being able to steal money to give to someone else .
  14. It is quite interesting how the tables have turned. It used to be that us Westerners were the ones angry at Quebec for whining. Now, I think, many of us have realized that Quebec isn't the problem, it's Ontario trying to control everyone. As for the 'Plains of Abraham' smack talk, Canada is a vastly different country now. I highly doubt there would be much eagerness on the english side for violence. Why be angry at Quebec for wanting a little self-governance. It doesn't have to be this bitter separation. Let them go. Enough of the Ontario imperialism.
  15. From what I understand of the 20 billion, 9 billion is new money. Saskatchewan get's it's piece. Have you ever seen Dumb and Dumber when they're standing at the Hotel handing out hundreds and saying "there you go, there you go"...
  16. Sunni's Offer Peace
  17. This is what's so funny to me. In Canada the Liberals get a pass everytime they accuse the Conservatives of the most horrendous insults like being racist and bigoted. But when the Cons play that game it's like the we're the most awful people in the world. I've used this analogy before on here but it's worth mentioning again: It's like the guy in the Roman Colloseum buried up to his head in the dirt. When the lion comes racing out towards him his bites it in the n@ds at which time the lion yelps and runs away. A centurion comes running out and pokes the guy with a spear and says 'hey, fight fair!'. Although Martin is not against child porn, he refuses to take a strong stand against it (as with everything else), citing reasons of "artistic expression" and "free speech".
  18. Operation Matador a Success!
  19. She should have hired Group Action. A Liberal would've...
  20. said the pot to the kettle... 20 billion, 3 billion what's the difference it's just pocket change right? Just raise taxes and it's all good. ....and I have to get my nails done on Wednesday and...
  21. While I harbor much disdain for NDP ideology, I don't blame Layton for using the Libs to accomplish what he feels are worthy objectives. I think Martin is disgusting for spending 22 billion in 20 days trying to buy off everyone in sight. Equally disgusting are the greedy premiers McGuinty and Williams for taking advantage of the weakling, PM, to squeeze out even more money. It's like a friggen pinata has popped and people are panicking to hoard all the loot they can.
  22. Leave it to you two to spin this into a negative portrayal of the conservatives. I'm am now convinced that it is people like you who are managing the news rooms in this country. Before I read this I was just about to mention how honorable it was of the NDP to make this offer considering it is an NDP budget. Obviously the Liberals are the scum of the earth, capitalizing on cancer.
  23. Don't forget Winnie Mandela, who kidnapped 4 kids and murdered a 14 year old.
  24. That would require that people care. I don't think very many do care anymore, and think their numbers will decrease further with another Liberal win. -k <{POST_SNAPBACK}> True but anger will grow a little at a time. Numbers in support of separation will grow higher in the west. I've been hearing talk more and more lately. If Quebec votes to separate it will give us some good leverage. Or if oil prices stay high I can't imagine Ontario being able to resist putting their sticky fingers into our pot. Cross your fingers for another NEP, that'll push us over the edge.
