Rice admits U.S. handling of Arar case 'imperfect'
noahbody replied to Fortunata's topic in Canada / United States Relations
No, Arar should have remembered the man the RCMP and CSIS were watching signed his rental lease. His own false answers during interrogation, made him appear untrustworthy. -
Global Warming is a political issue if there ever was one.

I'm wondering about the centaurs in the forest. Just how were they created? My guess: bestiality.

Condoleezza Rice addresses Meher Arar
noahbody replied to mikedavid00's topic in Canada / United States Relations
The issue was politicized, that's why. I don't think Arar would have much of a case against Canada or the US in a court of law. Yes, he was a victim of circumstance, but he did contribute to his situation giving false answers during interrogation. The moral of the story: If a suspected terrorist signs your rental lease, don't let it slip your mind. -
And this all powerful God just sits back while a child is molested? Or does he believe pedophilia is natural and acceptable?

Why does God allow priests to molest alter boys in his own house?

Time to ditch Kyoto, experts urge

I saw a story on this on the CBC news. They first interviewed someone who blamed the 'unexplainable' lowering of Lake Superior on global warming, like you. It was doom and gloom as usual. Later though, they brought on someone who could explain the unexplainable. The lowering is a result of erosion of the river flowing out of Lake Huron. It's been less of a problem in recent years. Is this trend going to reverse itself? -
Some are saying JKR should have been more up front about Dumbledore's gayness. I agree. When Harry asked him what he saw when he gazed into the Mirror of Erised, Dumbledore should have replied, "Grindelwald Harry. Grindelwald and benoit balls."

The Conservative/Harper problem.

Give some specifics please. I think it's correct to say he refuses to support anything that will recklessly harm the oil industry, but that's only wise. -
I wonder if Dumbledore had a thing going with Hagrid.

Dear Jack, If you were to visit Kandahar and a girl approached and thanked you because you're Canadian, would you say "you're welcome" or would you come clean and tell her you didn't think her freedom was worth the sacrifice? -

Gore and U.N. Panel Win Peace Prize for Climate Work

We should likely offer Gore as a sacrifice to the Volcano Gods. There's no time for debate! Hurry, throw him in! -
As a kid, I used to drive through an area called "the 8-mile lake." It was farmland. It got the name as years earlier the approx 8 mile area had been covered with water. The lake was fed by precipitation, no rivers flowed into it. It had dried out from years of drought. A couple of years ago, I drove by the area and was very surprised to see a small lake. The answer to your question is: Weather changes. Climate shifts. Always has, always will. Try to keep in mind, we went from the hottest decade on record, "the dirty thirties" to an ice-age scare in approx 30 years. From an ice age scare we've gone to a global warming scare in approx 30 years. The only constant is scare. I would assume this because many who go into environmental science, go into it to save the planet. Emotion has no place in science. If Gore was born 30 years earlier, he would have likely won a Nobel for saving the planet from an ice age. Only now we'd be looking back saying "What a boob."

Or possibly we should give it to Harry Potter for saving the world from He Who Must Not Be Named. Fiction does qualify after all.

I would have given it to Dion for offering to bring the Taliban prisoners over to Canada.

Interview with NDP Leader, Jack Layton
noahbody replied to Greg's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
When NASA corrected an error in its data set, the case for a global warming catastrophe was severely weakened. The claim that 10 of the hottest years came over an 11 year stretch starting in the 90's was ifalse. In fact, the 30's, not the 90's, turned out to be the hottest decade on record. The hottest year, now 1934, not 1998. And seven of the hottest 15 years occurred over seven decades. With so much that we value in Canadian society - health care, social programs, employment - being tied to the fossil fuel sector of our economy, would you say it's wise to stay on the bandwagon ignoring all signs or should we stop and have a serious debate on what's real and what's in the best interest for Canada and the future of our economy and all it provides? -

quote name='jennie' date='Oct 5 2007, 01:26 AM' post='256418'] I dunno ... maybe it's a rumour. Stay tuned for court I guess. Funny, you stated that like a fact, not rumour. I think that's called dishonesty. Here's the police version as stated in court: http://www.thespec.com/News/Local/article/256477
