  1. I forgot how moving that eulogy was......and you can bet that he wrote that speech himself.
  2. From you. Your own "Press Release" link dated April, 2005 - while Paul Martin was still Prime Minister: So again - can you provide any links that show us how successful this program was.....or if in fact it even got off the ground? Link: http://express-press-release.net/12/WAR%20VETERANS%20DONATE%20ORGANS%20TO%20IRAQI%20CHILDREN%20MAIMED%20IN%20WAR.php
  3. OK - so an American soldier tries to start up an Organs for Iraqi Kids program - with offices in cities in the US (Since he's an American, I would think they would be first) the UK and Canada. The Chretien and Martin Liberals refuse to pay any attention at all - and the Harper government apparently refuses Visas for some Iraqi kids. Since you feel this supposed action was so heinous - could you provide some links to show how many kids were accepted in the US and UK under this "program"? Did anything come of it at all - or was it just "aspirational" but poorly thought out and executed? Because hey - if the US and UK were accepting a bunch of these kids and they were successfully receiving organ transplants - and Canada was turning a blind eye....then maybe you're actually on to something with all of them - Chretien, Martin and Harper. Any links to support the success of this program?
  4. .....and people in Western Canada are probably thinking....."what do we have to do to finally rid ourselves of the elder Trudeau - drive a stake through his cold, dead heart?".
  5. I had trouble with the original link to the story so here it is again: http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/canada-election-2015-conservatives-barbaric-cultural-practices-1.3254886
  6. The Star's Forum poll this week also had a 7 or 8 point separation.....but yes, it's crazy how these polls are so skewed.
  7. You're embarrassing yourself again Waldo. Look at the Thread Title - Suzuki versus Trudeau - that's what we're talking about.....not the Harper Plan - as I said - be it good bad or indifferent. So please go ahead and defend your guy against Suzuki. Go ahead and defend his "plan to have a plan once he understands what the provinces plan to do". As you continually drone....Step Up Waldo!
  8. Please do. If you fell for this crap - if true it happened under the Chretien/Martin Liberals - I don't think Conservatives would want you as a colleague.
  9. If our forum moderator is allowing this topic to remain - then the title should be changed to "Heartless Chretien and Martin". The article clearly states it happened in 2004/2005.
  10. Trumpet by implication? Come now Waldo - that's a new one. Your lengthy post was just a lot of deflective blather......I made no mention of the Conservative plan - be it good, bad or indifferent.....I was responding only and specifically to your actual trumpeting of the Trudeau non-plan......so to repeat: So....let me understand....Trudeau's plan is that he plans to develop a plan, once he understands what the provinces plan to do. Yep....that's bold leadership. ....and hey, he's given "formal notice". Wow.
  11. So....let me understand....Trudeau's plan is that he plans to develop a plan, once he understands what the provinces plan to do. Yep....that's bold leadership. ....and hey, he's given "formal notice". Wow.
  12. It seems that every time the polls start to favour the Conservatives, there a lull in posting..........
  13. Not quite. Certain rights are not absolute and are subject to "reasonable accommodation". Quebec has been going through such accommodation for years. Reasonable accommodation is centered around undue hardship on either party. Seeing as we've provided a great deal of accommodation to the Muslim faith - or put another way, have not introduced any roadblocks to the practicing of their faith, sure a Charter challenge would have a good chance of siding with the government - that lifting the veil for a citizenship ceremony falls under reasonable accommodation - certainly not "undue hardship".
  14. You're right On Guard - there is two-tiered citizenship....one for the terrorists - and one for everyone else!
  15. OK - let's have it your way.....time will tell.
  16. The Star is no friend of Conservatives and this poll could very well be showing us that the large EKOS poll was not an outlier after all. Still three weeks to go however......anything can happen.
  17. You have to understand the rawness of the general electorate. The silent majority believes in immigration - but they also strongly believe in integration. The Niqab represents the giant wart of Multi-culturalism - the ability to live almost completely separate from Canadian society and shun integration. The public at large is saying "enough is enough". They "feel" it's not right. It matters little what you or I think - that's just the way it is.
  18. I don't think he'll stay around for another election - he'd be 60. Assuming he gets a comfortable majority, it would be a question of timing - after two years or three? But really, the real factor might be how the world is working. I firmly believe that Harper would do what he felt was best for Canada - not for himself. Who knows what might unfold? That said, I think the "plan" is to turn things over to the next generation........
  19. As is becoming clear...they are behind...possibly back in 3rd place.
  20. That's all "inside the Ottawa bubble" stuff. I know I'm boring some - but "everyday" Canadians really don't care that much about the Ottawa bubble......that's why "gut" issues like the Niqab carry so much weight......and now that people are starting to pay attention, it's showing up in the polls.
  21. Honestly - that's really a valid view and I understand it. I personally think that our government is more open and accountable than it was 15 or 20 or 30 years ago. It seems that you can't really hide much anymore......and you only need to look at Sona, Del Maestro, Duffy and Wright to know that there is more accountability. As for "everyday Canadians", it's not meant to be patronizing - it's thinking about those Canadians who yes - don't have time to think about the big picture - they worry about a job, feeding their family, raising kids - getting by......they vote with their gut - they look at issues with their gut - does it feel right. Failure is subjective.
  22. Validly so.....but again, that does not affect everyday Canadians.....nor does it affect our democracy or fundamentally, Canada. You are just talking about a government style. Nothing prevents the next government from changing that style - splitting up bills, reducing Cabinet and the PMO. Do you really, seriously think that either Mulcair or Trudeau will do that? With Mulcair's concentration of inexperienced Quebec candidates - he'll need all the help he can get and if Trudeau gets in, he'll need the same and more than likely will "owe" a lot of people. So sure, be frustrated with Harper - but be careful what you wish for - it may in fact be worse.
  23. I don't think people are saying it's bad for democracy. People are free to cast their vote any way they choose. It just seems like a fruitless and confusing exercise - dependent on "knowing" how everyone else will vote. But that's the beauty of democracy - and our Charter of Rights and Freedoms. People have the right to be dumb, er...strategic.
