  1. I believe there will definitely be a New World Order. It's part of the evolution our world is going through right now. We've been through Anarchy, Monarchy, Republic, etc. One World Government is another form of government that will probably make governments now, like Republics and Dictatorships obsolete, just as they have done to previous forms of government. Nationalism will also be a thing of the past. This is one aspect of One World Government that has obviously been quite popular the past couple decades and is increasingly on the rise. An Economic Globalization system is surely preferable to International trade for the people who have most to gain from the profit of humanity. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/6279679.stm After international Unions (i.e. European Union, North American Union), common currency, Global Economy, and uniting of armies, national sovereignty will be abolished and of course a world government implemented to replace it. Of course it is the richest people in the world who are obviously in favor of this, and are the ones who will implement it. Richest people being the ones who own entire corporations, banks, and countries. I'm Imagining a...Oligarchy/Plutocracy Totalitarian Communist Globalized Order. Will this be good or bad? Will it succeed? That's up for debate.
  2. I meant, "to form a negative opinion about someone" in the sense of the word. Based on problems they might be having.
  3. I think in most cases, obesity is unhealthy. Like mentioned in here, it is a result of over-eating and under-exercise, which are both negative health issues, and shouldn't be glorified. But there can also be healthy fat people, who might have a proper stable calorie intake, and just carry weight from their unhealthy choices in the past, and in their youth and childhood. But I think it's mostly not the case. Underweight in our society is also just as bad a health risk I think and just as serious in our countries. No one should ever be judged for their appearance either, or any other problem for that matter that they might be slacking in their life, good or bad. But we live in an imperfect world and that's not always the case. The bottom line is, to be comfortable with your self image, and if you desire to change yourself to better your health, do it.
  4. Yah that is true, I understand what you mean. And you can of course ask for citations, but the person has freedom of speech and can say anything they want, without the need for proof at the instant. But I meant when people don't see proof, citations, or don't believe there is proof, and immediately attack the poster saying his statement is not true for not having such things, when they can politely ask, or do they're own research before bashing something they don't know anything about.
  5. I didn't know who to point this out too, so I wrote it here for maybe everyone in the forum to read. I really enjoy reading the forums, and would like to post more often, but was wondering what kind of people are on this forum. I noticed many reply to controversial topics in an immature way. I was wondering if there was a way to enforce a more mature forum. I mean, I noticed people usually attack the person they're replying to, rather than attack the issue, and when people make statements, they demand proof, when in a proper debate if they don't believe in a statement, the accuser should be finding his/her own facts and information to disprove them. It's just proper debate etiquette. Also a person should be allowed to bring any issue to the table, whether you believe true or not, and whether they provide significant information or not. The reader can decide to reply, and if they do, it's their duty to disprove or agree with the poster. If they just say, "You're an idiot, where are your facts!" they shouldn't be posting that kind of response in the first place. Also aggressive questions should be kept to a minimum unless needed to clarify something. Again, it's proper debate etiquette. I don't want to make it seem like I'm a master debater or anything, but certain type of conduct like I mentioned above, in this forum, is a turn off to guest readers and new members, which I've been made aware of. I think it would be a better discussion and debate forum if people practiced better conduct.
  6. I agree with Kengs333. It was completely unnecessary for the auther to do that. Perhaps it was just for the publicity, but it's true that this sort of thing will affect the childrens views. And of course it's a fictional book, but not everyone (especailly children) are strong willed enough to decern the difference. I mean obviously a large portion of the population of Canada and the States allow themselves to be swayed by political election commercials and minute issues the electoral parties present, how can they be smart enough to defend themselves against this kind of moral suggestion. I just find her methods sneaky and underhanded.
  7. Well, I finally saw the movie, and I don't know why it's been such an issue for people. It's a fairy tale, no more controversal then Lord of The Rings or Starwars. If you wanna see something remotly based on facts, watch "The 300 Spartans" from 1962. And if the half naked men get you excited, then either you're a woman, or you're gay. It's not their fault. Although, the movie could have done without the slight occurances of side boob, nipples, and ass poundings.
  8. You're right Catchme. To a certain degree. The word Christ was originally a noun used as far back as the old testament, and in many other parts of the Bible to refer to the Messiah, or later known as Jesus. Over time it has evolved to be used in other contexts such as what you suggested. Who told you that?
  9. I think it has had a positive effect on our world when followed correctly.
  10. I think it doesn't matter. Citizens and resident aliens were interned during WW2 in Canada and the US by similar measures. The internments were upheld in court. That's why Canada added all the Charter of Rights disclaimers. So was America the Arsenal of Freedom or a Police State in 1942? Answer: it was both. I cannot think of an example of country with a Growing Economy any wear in the world that switched from a democracy to a Police state. People have to be pushed into that by desperate times. Since MOST Americans can still put a roof over there head and Macdonald's on the table I do not think we have reached the point where were looking for that radical a change. Also, you have to keep in mind that we have a fairly well educated population. I know were not Europe or Japan but as the world goes.... Another Issue is the size of the country. For example, do you think your gonna get Texans to support a police state? There more likely to shoot you for being on there property. I suppose certain parts of the country might be acceptable to that but I can pretty much guarantee you there would be one helluva fight over it. If they tried it I would drive myself and my 308 to DC and take a crack at the would be dictator and i seriously doubt i would be the only one. Desperate times will come. Like a said before, possibly a depression, or worse. Your right, the population is relativily educated, they what 2+2 is, and the value of pi. But they are uninformed on what's really going on. I have a cousin who lives in the states, he was never taught the constitution, or encouraged to learn it. How would you never if somebody is doing something wrong, if you don't even know what right is? And your right about the Texans, and perhaps there will be a lot of gun fire from both directions.
  11. I don't think we're far off from the United States, if not all North America, from being flung into martial law, and with a dictator not far behind either. But of course something huge would have to happen, and it's probably gonna have to be a negative thing. Like you said, a recession, but much more severe then that, like a depression. I can see it coming a mile away.
  12. Betsy is completely right. I'm not sure how anyone can possibly not see that, or disagrees with it. A huge thing that makes things easier for parents is the fact that you're not supposed to argue with your kid. That's the worst thing you can do. Especailly if it comes to that everyday, it's very stressful on both you and your kid. I remember if I ever started an arguement with my mother when I was a kid, I would get a shot so fast. Then I knew, there is no such thing as negotiation with my parents. It's a good system, trust me. And I plan to put it to practice one day.
  13. I agree with Drea. Now there's a model parent!
  14. I don't know how the whole world turned upside down in a couple of decades! You people are all nuts! It's not abuse! I garuntee you. Spanking a kid on the butt is not abuse. I got whipped by the belt, and not just on my ass. And I hated it. But today I thank my parents for it. The point is, people have been spanking their kids for generations and generations. My grandfather got it way worse than me, and he lived a happy succesful life, like alot of other average guys during his time. It's only in the past 15 years spanking has stopped been practiced, that we got all these problem child's. Grow up, be an adult and spank your kids.
  15. That's what I've been trying to figure out.
  16. I can speak from experience, and I was hit all the time. And it depended on how severe my actions were. Sometimes I got the belt, other times I got the spoon, or the spank over the knee thing. I got hit at least 3 times a week. And today, I thank my parents for it, because it might not have been easy for them. But it worked. And I think we should continue to practice discipline that way, in certain circumstances. I don't know how far back it goes, but it seems like it's been around for a long time, and it works, so why stop now? And as for the ADHD thing, It's true that the kids are "out of control", but it's not ADHD. They just need discipline.
  17. I have no doubt in my mind their leader is possessed or oppressed by a demon.
  18. How come all the Persians looked like Orcs?
  19. I'm not sure which Bible you're reading, but I'm talking about the Christain Holy Bible. In case you were reading something else. But if you read it all the way through, like a timeline of history, there's is no contradictory. That's something I have figured out for myself. And people weren't trying ot make sense of their past, it was just events that happened, and people wrote what happened. I don't want to accuse you of bigotry. Suffice to say that Eve, in the Garden of Eden, was not Jewish. That started many "begats" later, with Abraham. Yah you're right, but I was talking about the confusion they made with the set of rules and laws God gave them afterwards. And it is the fault of mankind that we are fallen. And I also don't mean to say "jews", because they weren't called that back then. But when I say that I'm refering to the nations of Isreal and Judeah. Although the descendants are Jews.
  20. You're missing the point, the Jews weren't continuing what he told them. Infact they were completely disobeying him, and changed what it meant. That's where the confusion is. They had that attitude with everything. And certain people knew they were doing things wrong, but no one listened to them. God had to send his son. It's simple history, and it's easier to understand if you read for yourself, because perhaps you don't like the way I explain it. And there's a lot of things we still don't understand, and don't really need to. I'm sure God could have told us EVERYTHING. Like how every little thing works, and teach us mathimatics and science and everything right from the start, but he just decided not to. And maybe that's because none of it really matters towards our ultimate goal to be right with God again. And besides, our mordern calander was probably made after God made the laws, so it really doesn't matter which day of the week is the sabbath. It's just nice to have everyone have it on the same day, makes things easier. God just wants to make sure we rest is all and dedicate that day to him.
  21. I think it the way you look at it. Two different people who are looking at the exact same thing from different angles, could have a totally different opinion on whats going on. Although all those positive things you listed are all true, I'll still believe we're heading in a direction for disaster, if you look at the negative side of things. And people keep saying it's going to be a nazi nation or something like that...but it actually seems more like it's turning into a communist dictatorship.
  22. The Jews were the ones who caused all the confusion, they were messing up all that God asked them to do for their own greedy ways. And lived by the law instead of by faith. Jesus didn't change the rules, he fullfilled the law that God first gave to Moses. Example: God told the Jews not to work on the sabbath, so they can rest, and so employers couldn't force them to work and that sort of stuff. But they took it too far and decided that helping a poor guy on the street is working, and wanted to kill Jesus for that. It's actually really really simple, but since nobody nowadays actually reads the Bible for themselves, how can they ever understand it, or even argue against it. And the people who tell you whats in it, might not even know what they're talking about themselves, and could also make mistakes. That's why it's always good to read for yourself. And the whole idea of hell has been debated as well. I mean, he it's not necessarily punishment. It's like if your full of Sin, God can't be with you, and hell is like a place where he has removed himself from everything there. It's a place without God. Now this has been debated too, because it doesn't make much sense for God to keep around a hell place for eternity after everything is done. It brings no Glory to God to have hell as a place of torture, nor would it have a real purpose. So some people suggest that once you die, if you don't go to heaven, you're just destroyed. You no longer exist, soul and all. Which is possible as well. But this shouldn't affect my faith because for me, the fact remains, that what he asks me to do is the best for my life, and I would want to do what he says whether there is a hell or not, because my goal is to get into heaven.
  23. It seems like a pretty mean spirited deity who would create people in order to have a relationship with them, and give them a choice - choose me and do what I want or I'll punish you for eternity. What kind of choice is that? He then sets it up so that everyone disagrees about what it is he actually wants, so no one knows with any degree of certainty that what they are doing is even going to lead them to that relationship he claims to want. The illogic of it all is stunning. You're right, this is only if he exists. I don't believe he does, but if I'm wrong, I don't think I'd want to choose him anyway. Anyone who would punish someone for eternity for choices made in a short human lifespan, with inaccurate and conflicting information, isn't someone I'm interested in knowing. He didn't create us with sin or the "falleness", We were perfect at one point, but we still had free will. And I'm sure you're not opposed to free will. And the main point is that God is completely Holy, and he can't approve of sin, or be in a relationship with something sinful. And when mankind first sinned, God had to remove himself from us, to a certain degree. And of course, when someone does something wrong, they have to be punished. Don't you agree? And by removing himself, there's a absence of holiness, which results in anything opposite of what God created to be the best way and holy. But we shouldn't even have the right to exist anymore or at least not have any hope. Because when mankind first sinned, he could have either just killed them then and there, or could have left us to fend for ourselves and rot away on a sin controlled planet with no hope of returning to his presence. But he gives us a chance to follow his rules, which are the best way to live our lives, and how can you argue with that? And he didn't set up are arguments, he sent prophet after prophet to the Jews way back when, and they still sinned. Then he sent Jesus to make things clear once and for all. And he did set up a whole book about it, so the truth will never be lost. What else do you want him to do?
  24. Ahh, guilt. The basis of your religion. I don't especially care if he likes my actions, since I think he is just a figment of your imagination. But if he exists, I don't think he really needs validation or gratitude from me. He's a big boy, he'll get over it if I don't say thank you. The underlying basis of our entire existance is because God wanted a relationship. He created angels, but from creation they were holy, and don't have choice of not having a relationship with God. They're pretty much robots. He created us with choice to do what he asks us, which according to him is best, and we have a choice to not do what he asks us. That makes our relationship with him worth so much, because if we can follow everything he tells us on this earth, which is ridiculously full of temptation and the actual doubt of his existance, then he would want to spend the rest of eternity with us. When you said, "He'll get over it", it makes it seem like he doesn't care about us. But to him we're a huge deal of his creation. But....this is only if he exist.
  25. Hahaha, I've heard that one before. Perhaps that's just what they want you to think... And a lot of stuff is on Youtube, type in history channel, or discovery channel. That doesn't make the shows from those stations discreditable. Just showed some clips to get you thinking, and how can you dispute the first one there I listed...if you did infact watch it. You can look up those quotes for yourself. And don't tell me you just wikipedia'd those guys names, that's not the most realiable source.
