Islamist groups seek ‘parallel society’ in Canada
scribblet replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Right on about the Khadrs, a great example of people not adhering to Canadian values, which by the way for those who seem to be unaware do not include, jihad, beheadings, fatwas honour killings, suicide bombers, stonings, hanging homosexuals etc. etc. A separate society outside of Canadian culture and values will eventually lead to additional requests for changes to our laws in order to accommodate Sharia BTW, the reason Canada doesn't go after the people of Bountiful is because they believe prosecuting them wouldn't pass the charter, so if Muslims do take other wives, they probably couldn't prosecute them either. Heck, Ontario even recognizes polygamy if the immigrant with the wives is coming from a country where it's legal - remember the Ontario welfare problem a while back. It is not a tempest in a teapot when you look at Europe and it's problems.here's an interesting blog here http://islamineurope.blogspot.com/2010/10/denmark-battle-of-values-against.html and many more from Europe where their problems are far more pronounced than in N.A. due to demographics. This also backs up Merkle's point about multiculturalism being a failure and for additional enlightenment check out Bill Mahar http://www.pakistan.tv/videos-bill-maher-on-the-superiority-of-%5BEgPeiv9r-KM%5D.cfm -
Islamist groups seek ‘parallel society’ in Canada
scribblet replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
IMO there are more hard line Islamists than many would care to believe, certainly a lot more, and more to be feared than the Phelps crew, as abhorrent as they are. I have read estimates of about 10% which is a lot... A parallel society would be one living within their own boundaries includingSharia law, and yes we know much of that is against our laws, but there is evidence that they are moving towards this and as said, it can foster extremism. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-11182225 Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair has described radical Islam as the greatest threat facing the world today http://www.globalpolitician.com/22337-terror http://www.spiegel.de/international/0,1518,467360,00.html ermany's Muslim population is becoming more religious and more conservative. Islamic associations are fostering the trend, particularly through their work with the young -- accelerating the drift towards a parallel Muslim society. -
Ontario Utilities Donating to Liberal Party
scribblet replied to scribblet's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
I don't see much of a difference, unions shouldn't use union dues to donate to a political party without permission from the union member. When a person joins the union they could state then if the agree to a portion going to a political party or not. Public utilities don't operate with gov't money except maybe Hydro One, Toronto Hydro for instance is a public agency but does not get any tax dollars to operate and has always been well run, operating within it's budget keeping rates fairly low. I don't know if that has changed since amalgamation, but they should not be selling it off either. Either way, no public agency should be donating to any political party, it's crazy, and the party should not accept the money. -
That's a pretty stupid thing to say, everyone is allowed a defense - but - neither of them have broken any laws, although the Liberal may have, but I don't see the party going after him. No one is claiming because the Liberals did it first it's okay, we are just pointing out that in case you didn't know, differences in how the money should be spent happens in all parties but according to some on this board, only conservatives are the bad guys.

Thompson wasn't using resources for an electoral campaign, it was an in house riding candidate selection, with letters going out only to riding members. I don't believe it's considered an electoral campaign which is the 5 weeks prior to voting day. Bevilaqua was definitely using his funds for an election campaign sending them out to the whole riding, only it was municipal, and he hadn't resigned as an MP or declared formally that he was running.
-
Bevilacqua sent out campaign pamphlets from his Federal office before stepping down to declare he was running for Mayor, a stealth campaign so to speak. His opponent Racco did accuse Bevilacqua of illegally mounting a campaign and using federal money to promote himself municipally, before his official registration in September. If you read carefully, again you will see that the only people complaining about Thompson are the riding Tories, there is no issue with actual spending, only those who see everything through prism of liberal coloured glasses spin it that way.

Talk about lack of ethics in media, check out this link although I hate to give them more hits. The article is factually incorrect, even prompting the CRTC comm. to post a comment, yet they continue to leave the story up there. They corrected the part about Rupert Murdoch but not the rest of it. So much for truth in reporting. http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2010/nov/08/mounties-murdoch-sun-tv-news#post-area http://www.theglobeandmail.com/report-on-business/guardian-issues-correction-no-rupert-murdoch-does-not-own-sun-tv/article1789962/

Scholarships For Foreign Students
scribblet replied to scribblet's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
There are plenty of Canadian students unable to attend university for financial reasons, they should be given scholarships, or helped financially. Definition of a racist: someone on the winning end of an argument with a liberal -
Harper blames Israeli stance for UN snub
scribblet replied to KeyStone's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Nonsense, how does it 'shame Canada' to stand up against anti semitism, his speech was excellent, if this is 'shaming Canada' - bring it on. excerpt from Harper's speech -
This is just wrong when we have students here who can't afford to go to university, just think how that money would help Ontario students. http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/article/885810--critics-slam-30m-plan-to-bring-foreign-students-to-ontario-universities A

Where's the 'flip flop' - he's sticking to a committment. “I think we’ve been very clear. We are working according to the parliamentary resolution that was adopted in 2008 by which Canada’s military mission will end and will transition to a civilian and development mission at the end of 2011,” he said. Capice ?

If they have any surplus money then they are overcharging for the hydro. -
Fortunately for women, Colorado voters soundly defeated the dangerous anti-choice amendment for second time. Amendment 62. The ramifcations of this bill and consequences if passed are alarming. http://www.plannedparenthood.org/about-us/newsroom.htm http://www.holyokeenterprise.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=2359:amendment-62-opposed-by-reader&catid=41:letters-to-the-editor&Itemid=67

I would hardly call it a victory, IMO it was a complete repudiation of Obama/dem policies. There is an opportunity now for both sides to come to some agreement and govern from the middle, bet that doesn't happen. -

Bill Maher Stands By Mohammed Remarks
scribblet replied to Shady's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Wow, more creative thinking 101 LOL Both sides say things, but so far I don't see anyone complaining about Bill Maher but as you know, if it were a conservative, everyone would be all abuzz -

Good thing it's wasn't a conservative saying that, they would've been crucified by now.
