Military families speak out on Afghanistan
Canadian Blue replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Because that often means leadership who care more about how many votes they can win instead of taking a principled stand. As we have seen the Liberal leadership candidates and Jack Layton are trying to win votes by saying the mission is a "lost cause" despite evidence to the contrary. Their hope is to capitalize on Canadian's ignorance towards the Afghan mission. Most Canadian's are completely ignorant about what were doing in that area of the world. http://forums.army.ca/forums/index.php?board=22.0 -
Prominent Conservative Mp's "Miss the Alliance"
Canadian Blue replied to SamStranger's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
PR would be much better then what we have now. Most people feel that they don't really get a say because no matter who they vote for they will often vote with the party only. People rarely vote for the MP, they more often then not vote for the political party. If 40% of the vote can translate to 100% of the power their is something wrong. We need to have some form of electoral reform, or I think we'll see voter turnout go to 50%. I've also noticed that voter turnout consistently has gone down since the use of "scare" tactics. When the Liberal's unveiled those tactics in the 2000, 2004, and 2006 election, the voter turnout was still low at around 60% showing people were sick of politicians. -
Questions Raised on Military Plane Purchases
Canadian Blue replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
But the American Air Force uses that plane. So if it works for the USAF then I think it should work for us. -
Prominent Conservative Mp's "Miss the Alliance"
Canadian Blue replied to SamStranger's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
So they miss the days when the Alliance was in opposition and they miss the excitement because they believed they would make a breakthrough and possibly become the next government. Give us a new link since that one doesn't work. -
If you mean a PM who was only elected with 40% of the vote to stack the senate with members from his own party then yes it is the democratic voice of Canada. Even though 60% of Canadian's really don't get much of a say on the matter.

Military families speak out on Afghanistan
Canadian Blue replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
How about answering the question I posed earlier about how you would change what we are doing in Afghanistan? Just wanted to let you know about the ignore feature, I never knew people used their mental ignore features on a forum instead of the ignore icon in the member profile. -
CP: Mackay controversy flares anew
Canadian Blue replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It wasn't even really that innappropriate of a remark. It's not like he made a verbal reference to Belinda or women in general. If Mackay is doing a decent job then he should stay in. No corruption was involved, no loss of taxpayer dollars, no "hate" speech, etc. Is anybody really surprised that politician's are dishonest, its kind of like being shocked that a lawyer would lie. -
Military families speak out on Afghanistan
Canadian Blue replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It obviously isn't working then is it? If you wanna ignore him then use the ignore feature, thats what its for. -
Buy one for yourself then. If you don't trust the police get a gun, it is legal in Canada afterall. Well it looked like the cyclist ran into the police, and from what it looks like it was a fairly anti-police crowd there. As well it wasn't simply for blocking traffic, I think assaulting police is a pretty stupid thing to do as well. I haven't noticed any police brutality in Winnipeg, besides the more police their is the better. If you feel the police are really untrustworthy then check out this website. http://www.copwatch.com/

Military families speak out on Afghanistan
Canadian Blue replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Isn't their an ignore list on here bud??? I think I can go to your profile and select ignore use. If you did that, then you wouldn't see that users post, especially if he was supposedly on your ignore list. Go to a profile and select profile options. Anyways, I don't really care about getting the dumb prize today since you seem to get it every other day of the week. Other then the insult, aren't you going to answer the question I posed to your or not??? Three cheers for jdobbin -
THIS is real anti-Harperism
Canadian Blue replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
100% of Democrat's watch CNN, in a related study 100% of Republican's watch Foxnews. Which station is unbiased, the answer is neither. GH, you sound alot like a Liberal spin doctor. I even think you have a position with the Liberal party thats above the consitutency arena. I love the title of the next article "How the west destroyed Afghanistan". Destroy what, some country with an unemployment rate of 78%. Really how much more could we destroy, and I guess that we should be ashamed of ourselves for taking those progressive, liberal, open minded rulers Afghanistan had before the west went in there and destroyed the, economy, liberty, and social progress of the nation known as Afghanistan. -
Military families speak out on Afghanistan
Canadian Blue replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
If he was on your ignore list then why did you respond to him??? No offense GH, but since I've been here whenever I see one of your post it just seems like a Liberal spin doctor is posting. http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/afghanistan/canada.html GH, how would you suggest we do the mission in Afghanistan? What have we been doing that has led to no progress? -

I like how every single attack against Harper always leads to Bush or the Republican's. As well isn't it a bit hypocritical for a Liberal MP to attack the political ad down in the US while at the same time attacking the RNC down in the states during a Senate and House election in the same argument. I think its mostly confined to the south of the country, that is where the Taliban is the strongest. The only major change that is needed is for more NATO countries to step in and help in that region. As for using more soldiers for reconstruction and aid, we get killed for handing out candies and building roads. Yes it was, and I remember the Liberals were the ones who had gotten us into the south of the country. Yet after the Liberals decided to make that decision knowing full well what the costs would be they are now backtracking since the polls suggest they would get more voters if they went against it. Here's a response I keep on hearing, we need a more "humanitarian" role in Afganistan. How do we hand out food, build roads and schools while getting shot at and blown up by the Taliban. I doubt they are as good as the reports I have read which show their is progress in the region. Operation Medusa was a huge success. I think one large problem is the Pakistan border which basically allows the Taliban to hide away from the American's. -
Who also happened to spit on the police officer who had made the arrest thus assaulting the officer. If the media can ever get a good story of supposed police brutality they'll jump on it, even if the officer is proven innocent. What do you mean when you say "strike them back"? I've been on the recieving end of an idiot cop as well in Barrie. But in the end I realize that they get treated like shit each day, get little or no support from the general public, and many suffer from PTSD. If you don't break the law, and act like a responsible adult you have nothing to worry about. If a police officer does abuse his power then thats what IA is for.

How do you know it was perjury? I think the police deserve our respect and trust. I've never had anything negative to say about the police, so far they seem to be very professional, and I think they do the best job they can, even without support from the public. "Everybody hates a cop until they need one" But then again, alot of people will pull out the race card in order to get out of trouble and not take responsibility for their actions. I read that TPS is one of the most diverse police agencies in the country. If you wanna throw out the race card again back it up with facts.

Military families speak out on Afghanistan
Canadian Blue replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
GH, I've read all the reports coming in from Afganistan, and we are making progress. However people here back at home are completely ignorant about it, and the common argument I hear is that we shouldn't be advancing Bush's imperial motives. I'm not sure when Afganistan is going to become the 51st state, but we are there for good reasons. I'm sure Canadian's aren't used to combat deaths, but even during the reign of Paul Martin, the CDS warned Canadian's that their would be deaths and to brace themselves for it. As far as I'm concerned, if were making progress why would we want to pullout. The problem right now is getting other NATO members to help in the southern region of Afganistan were the Taliban are most active. -
CP: Mackay controversy flares anew
Canadian Blue replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
They want this to be brought before a commons committee. Surely their must be something of more importance then this. I heard North Korean has the bomb, the new Clean Air Act is flawed, and genocide is happening in Sudan. Why don't our politician's start spending more time on the real issues, instead of this BS. We saw what happened in the US in regards to Clinton, I don't want to see something like that, especially over a three word sentence. -
CP: Mackay controversy flares anew
Canadian Blue replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I don't know, after the previous government I'm not so worried about a spat that should be confined to the Maury show and not parliment. Their has been much worse said in the house of commons, and GH you should know who said "fuddle duddle". It's a non issue, and I doubt Canadian's really care. In the end it doesn't really effect them much, and they don't care about such an insignificant issue. Maybe if Mackay lied about something of substance, then I'd be concerned. -
Military families speak out on Afghanistan
Canadian Blue replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I'm not sure how much the 96,000$ are benefiting those dead Canadian soldiers right now. Not to mention the countless others who have lost limbs, and suffer severe PTSD afterwards. As well, I think that the soldiers on tour deserve every cent. Consider this they gave up four years of their lives to be treated like shit, get sent overseas and put in dangerous situations, as well as being seperated from their families for 6 to 9 months. Not to mention being seperated from their families for a large portion of their first contract due to training requirments. I don't think you quite understand the risks that our soldiers our taking. I was working yesterday and saw a soldier wearing his combats, yet confined to a wheelchair since both legs were gone. While your out drinking in bar, talking to family members, working a regular 9 to 5 job, and even walking, think about that soldier who lost both of his legs. I'd suggest you withdraw that comment. GH, I think its statements like the one that I qouted which gives ammunition to people who say they are opposed to the war are also not supportive of the troops. -

Canadian Blue replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
So is this how many topics is this for a politician saying no more than a three word insult. I mean, Bill Clinton did worse then that, and I don't think anybody really cared other then Republican's who thought it would be a great way to finally impeach a Democratic president that the majority of American's wanted to stay in the Whitehouse. -
Military families speak out on Afghanistan
Canadian Blue replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I believe that some do believe morale is being hit hard when people back home say the mission is a lost cause, and Canadian's are dying for nothing. Because many soldiers over there obviously don't think thats the case. -
It's not the culture that teaches it, its the leaders of the time. Islam was actually more tolerant then Christianity once. As well would it be fair to say that people should say American's should be ashamed of the widespread popularity of the KKK, and should that then be our only understanding of American culture. As well, we can't argue that all muslims have the same beliefs as each other. Theirs more to a persons identity then simply religion.

Yeah Mackay sure betrayed those 10% of PC Delegates that didn't support the merger. -
Ignatieff proposes to recognize Quebec as a nation
Canadian Blue replied to Leafless's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I've heard of the "US Takeover" theory before. It goes along the lines of the US making Atlantic Canada into new states, Western Canada becoming its own country, and Ontario being the only remainder of Canada. But I have a huge doubt it'll ever happen, and I doubt Ignatieff is here to commit espionage. -
Military families speak out on Afghanistan
Canadian Blue replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The major paper in Winnipeg had a headline saying "Military Families Want Troops Back Home". Even though it was only a few people, not all military families in general. But then again I doubt a headline that reads something like "A few military families want troops back home", wouldn't really sell on the newstand.
