Bush ratings drop to record low
theloniusfleabag replied to a topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Dear BHS, I believe Che Guevara was the doctor( a physician), and Castro studied law. Interestingly, Joseph Goebbels had a doctorate (of philosophy, I believe) and was known in the Nazi ranks as 'The Doctor'. -
Dear BHS, Only in economics could selflessness be called 'crazy'. In other situations it has been called 'heroism'. Well, assisted suicide relies on a call from the individual, as I understand it. Living wills, or making their wishes known to the attending doctor. You are most likely right here. It may have simply become tradition. Clinton for prez!

Dear BHS, I would guess that 'bastard children' probably made up more than 50% of the earth's aggregate human population.

Dear BHS, That's what happens when you come in playing a game that is over your head. You aren't calling plays, you're 'reacting after the fact'. Like Texas football..."run it up the middle, we got four downs (or is that years?)". -
Dear BHS, I was going to point out this typo myself, but with the change made (mentally), it is a very good point. The question then becomes, "Is altruism a valid (and lucid) reason to choose an option?"

Dear August1991, Merely a cycle. Murdering heretics en masse, forced conversions, etc. did not end 'liberal thinking', in fact it gave rise to it. The cycling will not end until we discover, (or accept) the correct 'culture'.

Dear BHS, Traditionally, wartime leaders are not seen in the same 'glorious light' after wars are over. Just look at Churchill's immense popularity in WWII, and his defeat at the polls in the next election. -
Dear BHS, You shouldn't take 'blogs' as fact. However, this one seems to be correct. It is true, and Osama himself offered conversion (with himself as teacher) to any Americans willing to convert before 9/11, as commanded by the Koran. I had a copy of it printed off of the USC website, but have since used it as scrap paper.

Dear BHS, That would be like saying Hitler and Stalin simply helped millions to commit suicide. I believe that the individual must meet certain prerequisites, such as repeatedly confirming their wishes, etc. Back in the old days, elderly eskimos would find a nice 'ice floe' to retire on, and no one thought that this was wrong.

The worst part of all this silliness is that this is an old story, and have read it before under a different title. Can't remember what it was called, but basically the search for the holy grail was actually a search for the lineage of christ.

Dear ClearWest, Could have been, but the posts appear verbatim on numerous other forums...a clear violation of the forum rules. -

Dear Shady, I hear this line all the time, but the Muslims in the area would be happy if it was done with an eraser. Only the fear mongers claim that they want to do it with nukes. I also concur with Black Dog, Mein Kampf was a terrible book. Endlessly repetetive, run-on sentences covering a quarter of a page, it is an annoying read. This after being edited! Still, a valuable read for everyone.

Dear BHS, Too true. We're here now. Blood panel screening, etc, is used to deny insurance coverage, (this happened to me, and they would not tell me why)etc. Employers have expressed keen interest in DNA databases.

Dear GostHacked, I am not religious either, but it means 'praise be upon him'. http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/reference/glos.../term.PBUH.html Islam recognizes Abraham, (the progenitor of the Jews, referred to by them as 'Ibrahim') and Jesus, as holy figures. Prophets, though, without the 'abject holiness' attributed by their respective followers.

Imagine A Politician Keeping Promises
theloniusfleabag replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Dear August1991, No, companies do this of their own volition to increase profits. As to outsourcing, (and forgive me if this is redundant, I jumped from pg. 3 forward) Yuo may recall the advent of the 'horseless carriage'. What happened to the excess horses? Technological advancement meant that they were redundant, but in their case, it was the glue factory or French restaurants. Those that reap the rewards of outsourcing become less in number, for less need to 'go in' for them to 'get more out'. Not all of these 'redundant' workers can become corporate executives (to make more money off the backs of 'labour rich' [read: poor] countries), and definitely not 'all'. While you may argue that the 'pie' may get bigger, the name of the game is to get all of the pie to yourself. -

Dear geoffrey, Excellent post, and I whole-heartedly agree. Vigilantism? Technically, if you stop a fleeing purse-snatcher, you are a 'vigilante'. Society needs more involvement from it's citizens, not less. I'll post the letter I wrote to the Mayor a while ago (it is on my computer at work), explaining our problems in the area. Until now, I really had no hope that these issues would ever be addressed. -
Wilber and Slavik44, I have a question about the Giants. I played summer shinny hockey a couple of years ago with two juniors (I am still playing, but they moved on), Kyle Wanvig and Donald Chykolis(sp?). Anyone know where Donald went? He was with the Regina Pats at the time, and he told us he was going to Vancouver. Kyle went to Houston, and then to Minn. (He played one more year of summer with us while in Houston), but they were good buddies.

They have twice kicked around the idea of building a nuclear reactor to power Ft. Mac. Would have cut into profits. There is more money in the export of certain fuels than others. Good guess. -

Mexico adopts new drug policy
theloniusfleabag replied to theloniusfleabag's topic in The Rest of the World
Dear geoffrey, That is the way it is now. If people like Bubber Miley like pot so much, they would wish for no change in the system. Pot is cheap, plentiful and readily available.De-criminalization is a mere half-measure, only addressing the cost on the judicial system (for simple possession) of a relatively harmless drug. Legalization is the way to go, only then can full power be brought to bear against grow-ops and illegal dealing. -
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a very simple man. I expect that what was in the letter might have been similar to what one might have seen issued from Byzantium to the Western world, about how noble and poetic Islam is (or can be), contrary to western opinion. He probably included some of his own poetry, as Osama Bin Laden did in his 'messages' to the West. Then, I assume, he made the claim that for Islam to once again rise to it's former glory, it must have nuclear power, and claimed that the 'West' has no right to interfere.

Afgan or Darfur which one ?
theloniusfleabag replied to Army Guy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The reason to go to Afghanistan was not to 'free the Afghanis, or make them safe from tyranny or violence', it was to make Americans safe from violence. An idea that has basically failed, due largely to the American's 'imperial hubris'. Rwanda and Sudan are comparable, Afghanistan is not really the same.
