Tories to Run Negative TV Ad Campaign
Ricki Bobbi replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Hmmm, an ad by a party defining their opponent isn't negative by definition. Please don't try and change the discourse because you know a lot of people believe a much more sinister definition of negative ad. -
Which was step one in the road to a majority. Step two is defining Dion while the NDP re-invigorate themselves. If the NDP do after the Liberals again that is the best thing for them and the CPC. It appears that Layton sees the wisdom in that with the ATM fee gambit. Look for the Conservatives to work with the NDP to make that happen before the next election.

Tories to Run Negative TV Ad Campaign
Ricki Bobbi replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
So Dion's Liberals started the negative campaign for this coming election? The Liberals have always attempted to *define* their opposition through advertising. It worked very successfully for them from 1993 to 2006. Why wouldn't the Conservatives do it? -
The Reform party hasn't existed since befoe the 2004 election. Do you feel good when you lie? Because lying is a bad thing...

Of course he doesn't read what you right. All he does is accuse of of *screaming* for daring to disagree with him.

Will Stéphane Dion ever be PM of Canada?

Again with the personal attacks apropos of nothing? Again reported to Greg. -
Will Stéphane Dion ever be PM of Canada?

Enough with your blanket attacks on *Conservatives*. Or should I look at your arrogant reply and chalk it up to arrogance on behalf of all *Liberals*? Shouldn't you actually be in power to be so arrogant? You completely ignored the point that was trying to be made. You were given the benefit of the doubt for misunderstanding. -
CBC reports settlement between government and Arar
Ricki Bobbi replied to Melanie_'s topic in Federal Politics in Canada
So Harper took the reasonable path in this case? That is the closest thing to a compliment you have ever paid our PM. -
Horatio is clearly a young Liberal thug. Just goes to the conventions for the booze, schmoozing and easy/ugly broads. Harper has performed well and the likes of Horatio are going to be left with their incestuous little groupies and that's it...

Will Stéphane Dion ever be PM of Canada?
Ricki Bobbi replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Only three leaders ago was there a leader who never won an election. John Turner became PM on a technicality. Never won an election. No technicality for Dion. He's actually got to win an election. Can he do it? -
Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh. It's too funny reading Wikipedia as the conservative gospel. Uhh, maybe both you jerks should read the context of the quote from Wikipedia. Are either of you denying the veracity of the quote??? The Star has used *Proudly Liberal* as an unofficial motto for year. It was in Zerb's blog a couple weeks ago even. I'm not surprised that either of you turned it into a chance to attack. WDW attacked me over it because his obsession with me is just strange and creepy. He has been warned about it, yet keeps on going. Hiti, Wikipedia is conservative gospel??? wtf?

Those are the ones that will either disappear or have to be exempted from this little charade. Either way they will be gone.... They need the fees to survive.

Horatio are you baked when you post these things? Such a superficial analysis, hmmmm good work. Seriously tough. Say the Conservatives do pull of a majority next Spring. Can Dion last that long in opposition or do the knives come out for him already? Two consecutive losses and he is toast. -
Good contribution as usual Horatio! I think it has been a very strong year. They have run a competent, focused Goverment. Put *scary* *scary* *scary* to bed. Now the focus is on a majority this time around.

Tory MP accused of emailing 'denigrating' joke
Ricki Bobbi replied to Fortunata's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
No, he forwarded the joke on... -
Straight from the Toronto Star. (Link) The show had 2.1 million viewers for the first episode and 1.2 million for the second. The second week's numbers are still good, but it makes you wonder how long the show will last. Will it gain any sort of a following? What will the audience settle at? Half a million? After sitting through that second episode .... ugh. Uninteresting and just plain bad. Something tells me they will air they episodes they've already purchased then the show will slowly go away.

The NDP won 19 seats in 2004 and 29 in 2006. Do explain how their 2004 campaign was superior again??? They got 10 more seats by going after the Liberals in 2006. Why would they change their strategy? Seems to the smartest strategy for the NDP would be to ask everybody who "lent them" their votes in 2006 to consider making the switch for good because they have *earned* them now. I also think the ATM fee thing was a brilliant move by Jacko. Alas it will be co-opted byt the Liberals within the year, then the CPC will work with the banks to have them *voluntarily* get rid of ATM fees.

I understand that, but this column crosses every line. Power to The Star. A private organization is more than free to print crap like this. Just sorta sad they try and portray themselves as somehow respectable... If Hébert is correct and the Conservatives can neutralize the issue then they will be clear favourites going into the next election.

The left-wing Toronto Star can publish all the anti-Harper propaganda they want it does not change from the fact that he is the best choice to govern Canada. That has got to be the strangest and most disrespectful column I have ever read. I guess it was supposed to be sarcasm, but it didn't really work. It wasn't funny, coherent or well-written. Obviously Harper is focusing on the environment now. It has become the key issue. Didn't the Star chastise Harper for getting political advice from Canada's Greenest Prime Minister, i.e. Brian Mulroney. Couldn't it be that he accepted Mulroney's advice on the issue and has started to act on it? Man I swear if it weren't for Chantal Hébert I would never read that p.o.s. paper. Here's Hébert's rational analysis of Harper's environmental move from today's Star.

Tory MP accused of emailing 'denigrating' joke
Ricki Bobbi replied to Fortunata's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
There is no hypocrisy because Mayes isn't the one who fired him. The director how got fired was voted off the board by the other members of the board. Being a director in a riding association is a voluntary position. So the director who was let go was definitely not on Mayes' staff in any way shape or form. That the fired director turned around and leaked a different email to the media makes me think the guy is very odd and was definitely not looking out for Mayes or the party. He has definitely burned all bridges with the party. Who knows what transprired to lead to him being let go from the board, but he had to know leaking the email would have hurt him. Had he really wanted to hurt Mayes he would have leaked it during the next election. Clearly not a very shrewed guy... -

Is there anything you won't turn into an attack on the Choice in Childcare program? Good decision by the Government. Maybe Arar didn't really deserve so much, but it would have cost them huge dollars had they tried to fight him in court. It is income. It should be taxed.
