  1. It might be a good place to work on his pass rush, quickness and strength and try out again next summer.
  2. There is a lot more passing which will be nice for a D-end. The mobility of the quarterbacks will likely be good practice as well. I'm not sure if the 1 yard gap is detrimental to lineman's timing if he wants to go to the NFL or not.
  3. I don't follow your logic?
  4. Many will discuss it as couples but you're right women make the call. As it should be.
  5. I'm glad parents have the choice to proceed or terminate the pregnancy as they see fit.
  6. It does in most of Canada, other than maybe Southern Ontario and BC.
  7. Dogs are mainly carnivorous but are adaptable and can survive on an omnivorous diet. Actually, dogs are closer to being naturally omnivorous than humans are. We are natural vegetarians that can tolerate meat.
  8. I don't. A vegan who mistreats their dog would be though. Would a vegan who owns a Bulldog or Boston Terrier, without mistreating them, be a hypocrite though?
  9. I'm angry and still waiting for meaningful games in September...but I agree with your comment here. Making moves at the deadline only make sense if you can get value. I think the Jays will drop their team ERA significantly next year.
  10. How cool would this be? "Man doing some renos finds tunnel to lost underground city" - http://goo.gl/O6pKmE

Might be fascinating, may be a pain in the ass. Depends where it is and if an government agency gets involved and deems his property an archeological site, then expropriates it!

  11. Fortunately, the science is settled on this and Leo just has to read it and spread the word.
  12. Aren't we all a little like the puppy kicker if we are aware of and accept the torture of food animals though?
  13. I'd rather see a single transferable vote system for every candidate including the mayor. It lets voters rank the mayoral candidates. First place votes are considered and the lowest ranked candidate eliminated. Votes for the eliminated candidate are transferred to the second place ranking and the process continues until one receives at least 50% + 1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single_transferable_vote

All you have to do is look at the cast of "characters" on the top of that page to figure they won't likely be convincing many women, especially those college grads, of much of anything. Perhaps give 'em an F for F'fort.

I think it's wrong to stereotype women voters as always looking for a handout.

I love it when Republicans demonstrate how under developed they really are.

  14. Weird that image complaints tend to mainly emanate from the older, conservative set. So you're saying that when dressing as a campaign cowboy in makeup, Harper is actually trying to win over lefties? If that's the case I would suggest he higher new image consultants this time around.
  15. Why do you feel free speech by the heads of companies like Mozilla, Barilla or Chick-fil-A be exempt from consequences? Some people vowed to not buy pasta or chicken sandwiches some showed their support by buying more. That's how free speech and the market should work.
  16. Yeah, I don't see how a group of people exercising their right to free speech is comparable to a mob silencing one side. Comparisons to lynch mobs and totalitarianism are more than a little hyperbolic. It seems that too many people feel that the idea of free speech should also mean freedom from consequences.
  17. So you don't think people work together to enact change? People must voice their displeasure as individuals?
  18. Recognizing our own hypocrisy doesn't mean you have to do anything about it. I find the fact that humans respond to individual acts of cruelty more strongly than mass tragedies to be interesting and worth acknowledging.
  19. By pointing out our hypocritical tendancies, Bonam is not justifying the abuse of the puppy in the OP. Try rereading the posts. Bonam has simply drawn attention to widespread animal cruelty that we tolerate. I think our hypocritical treatment of animals is worth talking about.
  20. "The death of one man is a tragedy, the death of millions is a statistic." - Stalin (possibly) Humans experience an interesting and thoroughly tested psychological phenomenon whereby we are more emotionally affected by a tragedy involving a small number of individuals than one involving many. Our willingness to help and donate to cause increases when the number of victims is small. Charities are aware of this fact which is why they often use a few individuals and personal stories to put a face on what would otherwise just be a statistic. http://reason.com/blog/2009/01/07/the-death-of-one-man-is-a-trag In this case we have one cute and powerless puppy, being assaulted by one wealthy and powerful man. David and Goliath, Good vs Evil, the 1% vs the rest of us. People can get emotionally attached to a story like that. We would care less if the man was a poor redneck and we would care even less if the same redneck burned down a puppy mill containing 5,000 animals. Though, the fact that we can identify and quantify a nonsensical phenomenon within ourselves doesn't excuse the hypocrisy. Pigs are more intelligent animals than dogs, yet we somehow overlook or even justify the millions of hogs and cows, and billions of chickens we torture every year in North America alone. I think we can tolerate this behaviour in part due to the large numbers involved, our arbitrary distinction between pets and food and the idea that we, as top predators, naturally eat our prey. Additionally, many are ignorant, sometimes willfully, of just how cruel the process is. During my undergrad years I toured top rated poultry, pork and beef facilities that exceeded animal treatment standards and was still appalled by how cruel the process is. This is one of countless videos documenting how animals are treated in far too many factory farms in North America. Can you imagine how these places are run in less developed nations?
  21. It's possible that the effective but time consuming inquiry based techniques are leaving too little time to work on problems and become efficient. This will get sorted out with Professional Development, experience and improved practices.
  22. Since 2 is less than 3 you have to 'carry over' from the tens column....leading to 12-3 = 9 This graphic isn't depicting inquiry or discovery based learning, it's just an illustration depicting the thought process involved with the 'carry over method'.
