  1. eternal life does not exist, it is fabricated to make us feel better about death. 'tranquil peace' is simply a state of mind anyone can achieve, religious or not. religion just makes it easier for the masses, an opiate if you will
  2. it is selfish to believe humans were meant for a higher purpose. there is no god or satan. there is life and death.
  3. ODSP is all too common in my town. There are way too many able people that collect a monthly handout simply because they are too lazy or stupid to have a job and be productive. A lot of them are drug addicts, who make no effort to get off drugs, and no effort to find work. There are also people who lie, pretending to be disabled or insane. There are also skores of people collecting unemployment benefits, while pretending to look for work. It is far too easy to leech off the system in this country.
  4. she lost in 2010 to joe fontana, he is pretty popular but she is still popular as well, most people realise her husband is the jackass not her
  5. personally, i do not have central air. my house has enough windows to open, and a couple fans blowing does enough for me. still, it gets really hot in the summer, and if i could afford it, i would get it
  6. OK here is a little story of what is going on in the mayor's office in my home town of London. From 2000-2010 Anne Marie DeCicco-Best was the mayor. At first she was doing a great job, that is until her husband, Tim Best stepped onto the scene. To be frank, he is a disgrace to my city. He purchased a restaurant in the core of downtown, and it quickly turned into a native hotspot, littered with bums and cussing old men. Soon after, he was granted a permit to build a large patio covering a large portion of the sidewalk, making it a lot harder to pass people on the street, and taking up a lot of territory people used to use for waiting for the bus, etc. This is only the beginning. A few years back, he was charged with a DUI. He was on his way back from the native reserve, which is where he purchases all the alcohol for his bar. He was found with a blood alcohol level 3x over the limit. Nothing ever happened, his court dates were pushed back again and again and it was only recently he was in court. His bar still stands and his liquour license was never suspended. If this was any other person, they would have been thrown to the wolves, and the bar would have been shut down in no time. Not all is lost because justice WAS eventually served. http://www.lfpress.com/news/london/2011/03/25/17752271.html http://www.lfpress.com/news/london/2012/06/15/19881321.html He got away with it for quite a while, but it finally caught up with him. I guess one can only abuse power for so long. As far as i know, he still owns and profits from the bar, this i am not 100% certain on.
  7. If there werent so many mistakes already made, i would be a lot more in favor of nuclear power. Fact is, Murphy's law states what can happen will happen, so i fear only more and more nuclear disasters are to come.
  8. In my opinion, a fetus is only a fetus until the child is removed from the woman. Until that point, it is part of the woman, part of her body. Obviously i am pro choice
  9. The power being sold back to the grid is what can be used to power street lights etc. And as for it being expensive, its only a high starting cost. I know people who own farms, and are now profiting after installing solar panels only a few years ago. They have already made back their starting costs and are now making pure profit
  10. SOLAR is the answer. Currently we don't have very efficient technology, but it is a million times safer than nuclear energy. As time goes on, the technology we have for solar is getting more and more efficient, and eventually, it will be able to meet all of our energy needs.
  11. Terrible move by the Canadian government. Now they will simply hate the West more than they already do (if that is even possible).
  12. Hil is up there for sure, but I definitely would NOT want to be on Oprah's bad side
  13. been playing diablo 3 a lot recently and i must say it is a really disappointing game. Also been playing MW3 on ps3, and again, very disappointing. maybe i should grow up and find something better to do with my free time
  14. It is true, teachers need to wear many hats to be successful. Teaching is a very stressful job, not only because of all the bratty students with their i phones etc. but because of the scrutiny they face from the public.
  15. I thought the point of school was to prepare people for life after school. Something called the real world. In the real world, if I don't show up to work, i make ZERO dollars, and most likely get fired. Students need to learn things the hard way sometimes, while I was in school (i graduated high school in 07) I got several zeros for not completing an assignment, or not handing it in on time. This motivated me to do the next assignment, because i had to make up for the zero. We can't go soft on children, they need to learn to take responsibility for their mistakes sooner rather than later.
  16. He is a highly trained professional, fact is, this walk was well... just another walk in the park for him. The only real challenge was getting the government to let him do it. There are thousands of guys out there that are able to do this feat.
  17. oil is NOT a renewable resource. This is a fact, I really don't think anyone can deny that... Let's just hope that the last remaining oil supply doesn't get spilled all over the place, rather than get burned into the air like its supposed to.
  18. I cannot believe how many people advocate in favor of nuclear power! In theory, nuclear energy is 100% green and 100% safe. In reality, people make mistakes, and this is why it is not safe. The more we rely on this energy source, the more likely we will continue to have disasters...
