  1. i guess its pretty easy for a doc to pump out these forms im sure there are plenty out there that will take bribes in exchange for them signed and obviously not all disabilities are visible...
  2. new story pertaining to TTC http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/toronto/toronto-city-manager-recommends-10-ways-to-raise-2-billion-for-transit-expansion/article4580012/
  3. OMG love that video, it says it all! so true
  4. fundamentals might not be important at our age but what about a 12 year old who has never heard of them?
  5. i have completed my placement and i had to pay to do it. Fanshawe has only recently started charging for the clinical placement from what i have heard. The local hospitals have told me they are hiring in october and i have been contacting them at least once a week since i did my placement (completed june 29) and you are right about corporate fraud. It is a far worse problem, but i just dont know anything about it first hand. edit: the course was completely online and was 8 months long normally it is 1 year but i overlapped some of the courses to finish sooner
  6. rent is not easy money. don't forget the PITA factor! there are ALWAYS problems, no matter what
  7. what a great artist. Glad to see he got what he deserved. His daughter Julie went to my hi school! (she was totally hot)
  8. ive played piano since i was 3 or 4 years old my parents forced me into it and i hated it. when i hit high school, i switched to drums/percussion and loved it. Now i thank my parents for making me play, because it gave me a lot of musical knowledge and i was able to pick up percussion easily. Now im in a band, we play local bars and shows, make a lil bit of money and have a lot of fun! thanks mom and dad <3
  9. MAGNETS FUCK YES! breaking bad is one of my favorite shows ever, im sad to see that it is ending after season 5 as for dexter, i like it even more than BB. PUMPED for the new season
  10. im sure that teachers have taken many steps to adapt to new technology. But do you really think every student with an i phone isnt going to go surfing the web rather than pay attention in class sometimes?
  11. what i am trying to say, is that FRAUD is committed far too often. And these people are not getting caught. As for myself, i do qualify for EI, but i don't feel the need to take it I am certified as a sterile processing technician. I have been certified for almost a full year and have not been able to find work in my field. The work I have been doing since i was 14 is in restaurants waiting tables or cooking in the kitchen. added: i have payed into ei since i began working.
  12. exactly, everyone nit-picks far too much, and people point the finger at teachers rather than students. These days with internet, i phones, etc. students can easily find disctactions, while in class especially. the focus needs to be turned back onto the fundamentals, and we need to stop being so soft on students
  13. if you can find a tenant willing to live under those conditions, more power to you. I have never heard of post dating rent cheques. If you are really cautious about who you let live under your roof, than im sure you could make it worth your efforts.
  14. i have heard a lot about this problem, i personally dont know anyone abusing that system. I have heard that the Canadian government has been cracking down on these kind of people recently. Im sure there are still a ton of cases out there undiscovered.
  15. I used to be an avid hockey fan, the previous lockout really turned me off the sport, and I haven't been much of fan since then. This current lockout is an opportunity to get more involved in local sports, I have been following my local London Knights a lot more since the NHL has been letting me down. Honestly, it is a lot more interesting to me.
  16. My uncle is a landlord. He was able to attain his property for a very cheap price, which is currently very rare. The main thing is, are you willing to deal with tenants? Collecting rent and keeping them from destroying your property is a lot more work than one might think. Last year a tenant in my uncles place decided to put holes in the walls in the kitchen, so they could insert nails and hang all of their cook ware. They moved out a few months later, and he had to re-finish the whole kitchen because they left it a complete messy disaster. He calls it the PITA factor (pain in the ass)
  17. There are many reasons Harper cut ties with Iran. The main one being the fact that he believes them to be the single biggest threat to global security on earth. If this is true, wouldn't you want to be their friend? You don't go pissing off the biggest bully in the playground on purpose do you?
  18. unfortunately, i personally know several people who have faked their way into obtaining disability. One person convinced the doctor he had done too many drugs, and had gone insane. He continued on to tell the doctor he thought the city hall was run by the free masons, and he was going to burn it down. He also claimed he had vivid halucinations and withdrawl symptoms due to drug use. None of which are true. He has been collecting disability for over a year now. And also, i do appreciate the facts on EI. I do realise that unemployment is on the rise, London has been getting hit for years now, and I myself have been unemployed for about 6 months. I do not collect benefits, because I still have some money saved, and I am still able to find some small time cash jobs in the meantime. In order to collect EI, you must prove you are seeking employment. This is extremely easy to fake, all you have to do is send out resumes, and if you land an interview, it is pretty easy to intentionally blow it. I know several people who have been doing this for a few years now, they collect over 1000 a month, and even do some work to make extra money, while not letting the government know. No system we have is perfect, there will always be ways to slip through the cracks. We need to apply stricter processes for people to attain disability or EI. The people who actually deserve it get it, which is a great thing. There are just too many people out there getting a free ride.
  19. this is exactly why we cant allow students to take incompletes at an early age. They will learn they can pass the course without completing all the work. If the students thinks it is acceptable now, they will think it is acceptable later in life, when it obviously is NOT
  20. agreed. if a woman feels like she is being harassed by males staring at her tits, then it is up to her to do something about it.
  21. getting a zero does not make it mathimatically impossible to pass a class. Every assignment is weighted, and the zero only accounts for a given percentage of your overall grade. I had classes where i had several zeros, and still managed to get 70+
  22. question, do you think it is too easy to attain disability? Is the screening process rigorous enough? Or can anyone fake it and get their free handout? Is it too easy to gain unemployment benefits? The rules on unemployment benefits have recently changed. I'm not sure what exactly has changed, but apparently you don't get them for as long, and they are also much harder to obtain.
  23. ever heard of misandry? Its the thought that men in todays society have fallen behind women, because women have gone after equal rights for so long, they have suddenly pulled ahead. http://www.singularity2050.com/2010/01/the-misandry-bubble.html this article is quite a long read, but you only need to read a bit of it to get the jist of it. OH, and the whole 'man cant get raped because he needs an erection' argument can easily be bypassed by a woman rapist by a little thing called viagra
  24. for some reason 18 seems to be the magic number, where we are suddenly allowed to do a lot of new and mature things. I think it is much too young for a person to be making political decisions. It is also too young an age to be allowed to vote, serve in the military, and to drink alcohol (yes i know the drinking age is 19). Granted, a lot of 18 year olds are mature enough to do these things, but most are not.
  25. agreed. You can't just turn your back on a worsening problem. And now we are seeing massive riots from Islam because of 1 small insignificant indie film. Its a parabola and we are heading towards the top
