  1. I suppose Iran thinks so too.
  2. Who would ever have thought Bill Frist would follow Jack Layton's lead on anything!

  4. They need a write-in option. So many annoying Canadians seem to have been overlooked in the nomination process: Rex Murphy, Ian Hanomansihngh, David Frum, the guy who says "cee. tee. VEE." on CTV television, ... the list goes on.
  5. Do you believe the US should have nuked the USSR in the early 50s? No, why? Did the USSR threaten to wipe the US off the map? No, they threatened to "bury" them. BTW, the real text of Aminejihad's speach was not quite so provocative as 'wipe off the map'.

  13. It's important to understand that Iran is not by nature a fundamentalist society. They are a forward-looking society who turned to a fundamentalist faction to free themselves from the US-supported, dictatorial Pahlavi regime. Now they find themselves stuck with the fundamentalist faction in power. The dishonest, illegal, and ill-advised Bush invasion of Iraq probably set the liberalization of Iran back by about 15 years. If Bush had been sane or sensible he would have encouraged social change in Iran, but it may be too late for that now.
