  1. This is what happens when Goodale, S. Dion and the Liberal party backroom boys in "Ottawa" fail to take into consideration the local sensitivities with respect to nominating candidates with their usual scorched earth policies; integrity and principles be damned: By totally dismissing letters from the native chiefs it is obvious S. Dion, Goodale and the 'Boys' have exposed to all concerned their lack of ethics, integrity, principles and the fact that the only matter of importance to them is stacking a riding with whatever body they think will win them a seat: http://canadianpress.google.com/article/AL...9NnDs2EH2-tyzEg
  2. Absolutely. Goodale was no doubt working feverishly on the 'old guard' to help him persuade S. Dion to appoint a.n.y.b.o.d.y but Orchard. This piece tends to confirm the backroom wheeling and dealing: What a pathetic excuse. Goodale and S. Dion assume that everyone will believe that this woman, Beatty, because she is aboriginal in a heavy aboriginal riding, need not owe any allegiance to her own party, the NDP, and the people who elected her as an NDP'er to represent them? That assumes also that the people in this riding will elect Mrs. Beatty because she is an aboriginal? How crude and calculating is that. Although this debt [$1Million?] of S. Dion's may be separate I believe it must be paid in full prior to any election. As well, Goodale, Dion nor the Liberal backroom boys seems to have learned anything from the past (or, more to the point, are waaaaay too arrogant to even consider David Orchard as anything but a nuisance), however, this group of, what some Westerners refer to as the 'Eastern Elitists', may discover they have taken Orchard and his 'supporters' for granted and wake up to find a scandal (convention shenanigans?) too hot to handle. Otherwise what could S. Dion and the backroom manipulators ever offer to David Orchard to satifisy Orchard's principles! `
  3. When it comes to principles, integrity and incorruptibility, it is clear S. Dion refuses to let these moral values stand in the way of his quest for power. After all of the belittling criticisms of Peter McKay by the NDP'ers and Liberals re David Orchard, Peter McKay must be laughing out loud while thinking about how dumb S. Dion and his advisors must be to figure David Orchard, after working to elect Dion as Liberal leader, will simply fade into the woodwork. It is not beyond David Orchard's mindset to retaliate by filing a lawsuit against Dion to recover funds from his work on Dion's campaign, etc., which would tend to add more debt to the 'leadership campaign outstanding loans'. Orchard has proven it is not just "beware the woman scorned"..... http://www.canada.com/saskatoonstarphoenix...18-aa6852bdf556
  4. The Ipsos Reid News (in total) directly from it's website reads as follows: The headlines are blue and in capitals. Political Predictions for 2008 Three Quarters (73%) Believe There’s a Good Chance for a Federal Election, and Two Thirds (63%) Believe Harper Will Be Re-elected. January 3, 2008 Contact John Wright at 416.324.2900 Category Ipsos Reid/Global/National Post , Politics & Elections (National) , Societal Issues, Foreign Affairs & Policy Location Canada Toronto, ON –Looking ahead to 2008, there are lots of things in politics that could be chanced -- and so, we asked Canadians what they thought was a good or bad chance of something happening. The results of the new Ipsos Reid poll conducted on behalf of CanWest News Service and Global Television are in, and here are Canadian’s prognostications: Three quarters (73%) believe that there is a good chance that there will be a federal election called in Canada in 2008, and two thirds (63%) believe that Stephen Harper will be re-elected. However, only 31% believe that he will get a majority government. http://www.ipsos-na.com/news/pressrelease.cfm?id=3779
  5. It was last summer I believe that Canadians voted Pierre Trudeau as the worst Canadian. The Beaver magazine poll. Whether 'worst Canadian' trumps 'most hated PM' depends on one's bias. Or, more likely it depends on whether one lives in the Eastern or Western provinces of Canada. The western provinces being Sask., Alberta and B.C. of course. `
  6. If you are so interested in Afghanistan and Canada's role in it's UN and NATO commitment whatever gives you the impression a 'Con' supporter or any 'supporter' on this Board is privy to the why's of the decision makers in the DND and in the offices of the Prime Miinister. Actually, by 'listening to the radio' you should already be aware that Canada's mission extension, if any, is not a decision to be made by one Stephen Harper. Your question to the 'Cons' then appears to be the ever so obvious baiting game. Did you ask all of the 'Liberal' supporters on this Board why their Prime Ministers, Chretien and Martin, involved Canada in Afghanistan in 2002 and why the Prime Minister, Martin, made the decision to involve Canada's military in this Kandahar mission? If not, why not? Here's a start in your search for answers as to the why's and wherefor's of Canada's role in Afghanistan. http://www.canada-afghanistan.gc.ca/cip-pi...tan/menu-en.asp There is more than enough information on the net on Canada's role in Afghanistan to keep one busy without having to pick up tid bits from sound bites on the radio or tv. `
  7. It looks like the religious extremists (al QuedaTaliban) are a major force in Pakistani politics. http://www.adnkronos.com/AKI/English/Secur...=1.0.1710322437 `
  8. Yes, just ask Mark Steyn, et al. This may come as a surprise to some people: http://www.canada.com/theprovince/news/edi...41-a7c1f8cf027e Interesting that someone has been brave enough to actually put the aforesaid in writing. If this is what it sounds like - a threat - where does it say anywhere on this Board you have the RIGHT to not be offended by the opinions posted here. Quite frankly this racist labelling works both ways and from these posts I would suggest there is more than a little reverse racism being flung around at the 'white' posters. I don't see any of them making threats of filing complaints.
  9. Darrell Bricker of Ipsos Reid together with the various media outlets are being more than a little dishonest if not deceitful. This poll was FIELDED in OCTOBER 2007. ..."fielded from October 9 - 11 2007" .... to be exact. http://www.ipsos-na.com/news/pressrelease.cfm?id=3769
  10. I think we have reached an impasse. It has now become a case of he said-he said and then there is the truth. It is surprising you took offence at my post. If you think about it the repetitious claims of 'many tories seem to think' or ... 'the tories think or believe this or that' is really a subtle inference used to stress whatever points made in an effort to support your/their argument. If you believe this was an insult to you personally then may I suggest that was not the intention. ` ps. if i had intended on issuing an insult to your person it would not have been in terms as in that post.
  11. If Mulroney, on the advice of his tax Accountant/lawyers, did claim all of the funds received from Shreiber as personal income and paid the full amount of tax owing, which the CRA had levied, then what 'documents' other than Mulroney's personal tax return would you or the Committee consider yourself/it entitled to review? Listen Buckwheat. It is becoming quite pointless for you to continue to postulate on just how "many Tories" are either not interested in this or that. Unless, of course, you are a member of a polling firm which contacts the millions of so-called 'tories' on a regular basis, which I doubt, however, neither you nor I nor anyone else should presume to speak for all of those 'tories' or - liberals - or socialists - or any other group of Canadians. Ciao. `
  12. If you too are suggesting that B. Mulroney would deliberately lie to the Ethics Committee about the amount of funds he (his tax Accountant/lawyer) reported to the CRA then I can only conclude that you must lack experience with the Income Tax Act, late filings, declarations, et al. or this further comment of yours is simply more wishful thinking on your part. How would you or any other observer of the Q and A sessions of this Ethics Committee know what documents or paperwork B. Mulroney and his lawyer brought with them on the day of Mr. Mulroney's appearance? `
  13. If the truth is to be found in B. Mulroney's tax returns are you assuming that B. Mulroney would actually lie to the Ethics Committee about the amount of money he received from Shreiber knowing that in a full blown Public Inquiry his tax records/recturns may be produced for the Chair, judge, et al. of the Inquiry? It is not likely Mr. Mulroney would be that intellectually challenged. `
  14. In the Canadian Press article you have cited this is what the reporter opened his piece with: Where is S. Harper "now trying to say in his letter to Johnston he gave him written latitude to say an Inquiry was not required..."? Yes, if this is the case, Mr. Johnston should dismiss ALL political interference more particularly S. Dion's meddling letters instructing Mr. Johnston to expand his Inquiry into the 'cover up' of this affair by Stephen Harper. `
  15. If you have a citation for that JDobbin, fine. But. Johnstone was chosen to decide from all of the data, etc. .... whether or not there should be a Public Inquiry..... and, in any event, since the original intent of the scope of this Shreiber-Mulroney travesty was to be whether or not Mulroney took money from Shreiber while still the Prime Minister of Canada which Shreiber has already denied, what further evidence or proof is there that will justify a Public Inquiry? Whether or not Stephane Dion's request for Johnstone to investigate Stephen Harper's involvement in a not so subtle suggestion by Stephane Dion of a "cover-up" was not part of Johnstone's original mandate and was quickly forgotten by all of the participating members of the Ethics Committee. Are you suggesting that Johnstone's 'parameters' should include all of the extraneous questions tossed around by the Ethics Committee, Dion, Layton and the Bloc, as well? Where did you get the impression that Stephen Harper will now sweep Johnstone's recommendations aside should he recommend an Inquiry? `
  16. Dion's written instructions to Johnston were to expand Johnston's inquiry into the Prime Minister's office, which, obviously was nothing more than a public show of chest beating, as follows: Jack Layton wasn't happy with Dion's written instructions to Johnston, After being bombarded with such sage advice and written instructions by all of the Opposition leaders Mr. Johnston may very well conclude that whatever the original intent of any Public Inquiry was into this affair has been lost therefore he may suggest that there will be a very limited inquiry into whether Mulroney took money from Shreiber during his term in office as Prime Minister or - there will be no public inquiry. Period. http://www.macleans.ca/article.jsp?content=n111842A
  17. If you knew that the only reason Gerry Nichols received the letter and 2008 calendar from Stephen Harper is that Gerry Nichols is a member of the Conservative party and lives in Stephen Harper's riding would you still think how front and center the P.M. is in his 'riding's' calendar JD? Also, Gerry Nichols in his little column neglected to tell you and whoever else reads his shlock that every member of the party received letters and 2008 calendars from their LOCAL Members of Parliament. Would you like me to send you a copy of each and every individual calendar, letter, etc. sent by the CPC MP's to the people in their ridings? Or, JD would you agree that not everything (anything) written or spoken as an opinion piece in every media source in the world is to be taken literally? `
  18. Unless the developing countries (China-India, etc) are involved why would Canada, Australia, the U.S., work on or agree to any numbers by 2009 according to the agreement signed in Bali? http://www.nationalpost.com/todays_paper/s....html?id=175177 and, It must have have come as quite a shock to all of those eco groups with M. Dion visiting Bali to find the new Australian Prime Minister, after much media attention signed the Kyoto Protocol, then to immediately declare in Bali his government would not agree to such targets. Strange that M. Dion has not treated the Australian Prime Minister to the same criticisms he has launched against Canada's Prime Minister for his stance on the Kyoto impossible targets for Canada. Partisan politics as usual. `
  19. Just like the real story of the several murders in the past few months in certain communities in B.C. had it not been for the "race and creed involved" would not have drawn the ire of the ultra militant left-wing feminists against the less than militant women with their usual rather malicious attacks of 'racism and bigotry' simply because the various women chose to protest the religious/culturally motivated murders of these women, most of whom were involved in 'arranged marriages', some of whom were recent immigrants. There are many women who do not belong to the so-called 'feminist militants' who do give "two sh*ts" about these women from the patriarchal religions/cultures who suffer and in some cases, die. Because of their religion/culture. There are many women who deny vociferously (check a few of the militant feminist forums/websites) that these women are murdered by the men in their family because of the religion/culture of their "race and creed" just as this girl in Mississauga was murdered because of the family's religion and culture. The hard-core feminists are loudly protesting that this girl's killing is because of "Hatred for Women" by men. Of course. Couldn't have anything to do with the "race or creed". 'Remind' you of a certain some-thing, Black Dog?
  20. Yes, she is a victim. A victim of a father, mother, brothers and sisters whose beliefs in the trappings of a religion/culture were of more importance to the honour of the family than the life of a daughter or sister. `
  21. You must have missed the picture of Moore's girlfriend, on the beach, in a bikini, in the background. Moore's dog was front and center in the picture he was showing to the 'liberal MP' according to Ian MacDonald's CTV interview. Madame Mathyssen appears to have had more interest in a female in a bikini rather than a female dog in a fur coat. On the beach. In the summer. Makes for a thought provoking discussion with respect to Madame Mathyssen's interests. Bikinis' or fur coats. `
  22. and, the other question: What day, month and year did Mulroney meet with this Swiss lawyer in Geneva and will Shreiber (or Swiss lawyer) provide irrefutable proof of this or these meetings with Mulroney? `
  23. Pat Martin should be classified by The Star as the "biggest and best of the NDP Junkyard Dogs", Will the militant feminists in the House now screech at Martin for being a - gasp - sexist? Doubt that Jack Layton nor Olivia Chow would have the chutzpah to take Pat Martin to task for his outrageous comments about the women in his party in interviews (Duffy?). Pat Martin may be one step behind Layton in a popularity contest for the leadership. Scarey thought. For Jack. Even the Liberal's Ralph Goodale is taking shots at Layton, Where's Jack? He usually can't resist any opportunity to opine to the 'working families' on the NDP's Canadian values; http://www.thestar.com/News/article/283448
  24. The so-called super highway? Texas officials have no idea what this "conspiracy of ideas" is all about: http://www.newsweek.com/id/73372 `
