The use of the word "we" in a sentence that spells out a debt owed to the ancestors of the dead forefathers of a conquered race of backward pagans is to say the least drivel. I have no doubt that some bleeding hearts club camp followers would have their way and see the Canadian public impoverished for foolish reasons. This isn't about reason or logic, it isn't about the reality of the law. It is about vengeance and guilt and greed. To visit the sins of the father on the children is a primitive concept. This isn't about what the treaties signed were all about. Those treaties were to preserve the way of live of the native tribes and allow them to hunt and fish and worship their gods. The entire argument has been morphed into a dollars and cents scenario, pushed by money hungry lawyers and a race of people who believe they are entitled to something which they are not. Only a fool would believe that money will bring happiness or resurrect a way of life. These folks, the natives need to be treated the same as every other citizen of this land. Given the fact they they currently suggest they are not citizens of this land, I suggest they have a choice to make. Either they desire to be citizens and treated as such, or they desire sovereignty and all that goes with it. With that in mind I will now pose a simple question; whats it going to be?

Crow tastes bad! I spoke badly yesterday and treated Charter of Rights with disrespect, for that I am sorry. I apologize to all for my poor behavior, the issue brought me to the brink of utter rage. Yet that is no excuse for what I said. Even so, the issue still needs resolution. If this nation is truly faced with this problem, which I do not believe, then bankruptcy is the only solution. I cannot believe that any court in this or any other land would side with the natives on this issue. As a matter of fact, I will cease to support "Canada" as a nation and seek sovereignty for my own province of Alberta. CR has one point, and that is the concept of the Canadian government having no choices in this matter, because it lacks the brains and the balls to do anything about just about anything. To give away the wealth of the nation to undeserving folks with laughable claims is comical.

You are a liar and a fraud. Have you ever seen me write or claim that I was a lawyer? I am not a wannabe anything. I stand for myself, nobody else. You and your kind disgust me. People are required to pay their own way. That is not something understood by yourself and your kind. All of this crap about the government owing you or anyone else anything just sickens me. Get a job and maybe convince the natives to get a job and earn what they want need or desire like the rest of the citizens. I am tired of the whinning and complaining that people like you seem to be doing all of the time. The natives that I know work for a living, because I simply don't associate with the bums of the world who think I should work to look after them with my tax dollars. Those scum should move to a good communist country to get what they want and deserve.

We already did that a few times, doesn't seem to matter to these people. Perhaps that is why the phrase "Indian Giver" was formulated? Right, sure....lets just deduct every damned dollar in cash and services those folks have drawn out of the public from the first penny spent to the last and tally up the numbers shall we, then you can tell me who owes who what. Hey fool that is what the government has been trying to do for the last century and a half. Sharing the wealth of the nation isn't what those people want, they are laying claim to entitlements that the rest of the citizens of Canada should not be allowed to have. What they are saying is that they are better than us and deserve more than us. They are saying that we should pay them all that we have so they can have what we have without ever having to work for it. That is a very disgusting thing to demand of Canadians, indeed it borders on something worth fighting over. Seek and ye shall find fool.

Khadr is lucky that he is not a US citizen.

Somehow I doubt that Jack and Steve are planning the demise of Iggy or the Bloc.

It seems that this topic was once again hijacked for some purpose..............say yea!

I don't want to be impressed. I want a resolution to the issues of the day. I tire of a people who claim entitlements, I tire of the welfare state. I grow weary of the complaints which see the average citizen held to account for the sins of the fathers.

It would seem that a "swift boat" approach has been taken by the right side of the equation. If this continues you can expect to see a smear Harper campaign in the works for an election. Harper would be wise to nip this in the bud.

Federal deficit hit 5 Billion in JUNE
Jerry J. Fortin replied to Topaz's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I must agree, I see it daily because I live in Alberta. -
Iggy has the keys to the kingdom in his hand. He is just waiting to find the door and unlock it. I am sure Harper will do the expected thing and show him the way.

Perhaps the "First Nations" should repay all of the money spent on them in trade for all of the lands they now have, on the condition that they withdraw any other claims or lands in dispute.

If it stands? What appeal is there to the Supreme Court of Canada? When the government of Canada chooses not to follow the law, or is found to be in contravention of a law, how can that government be determined to be legitimate. This country should be one in which the law is the ultimate authority, its either that or we decide to live in a society where any single group such as the government is above the law.

Funny how two polls could be so far apart. The difference of a single week does little to account for the discrepancy.

Canadian Cash for Clunkers
Jerry J. Fortin replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Well folks we can call this corporate welfare if you like, but the reality is that there is a distinct shift in politics. We now have begun to use public funds to support private enterprise in a very blatant way. The public is having their noses rubbed in the stink of corruption and the public has begun to realize that it doesn't like it. The dippers think this concept is all well and good because it appears to keep a few of their brethren working. The Conservatives think it is well and good because their corporate sponsors say it is good. The Liberals think it is well and good because they see where the band is playing and they want to be seen out in front leading the show. In my view they are all out to lunch. There is no well and good when the citizens of this nation are supporting private efforts and do not profit from the endeavor. -
The only poll that matters to me is the one with results posted after a general election. There is no doubt that public opinion will sway from day to day, and there is no doubt the politicians pay close attention to these wanderings of public sentiment because our system allows them to use these things against us. Even so, neither party leader is likely to be fool enough to use summer numbers for a reason to initiate an election call. I would think with unemployment numbers trending higher that Iggy will use the summer long EI conference to push through changes to the current setup. Harper can resist or not, face an election or not simply based upon this one issue. He knows this but still refuses to play the game Iggy wants him to. Harper wanted the summer to provide evidence of economic improvements, what he got was typical. The recession may be in fact over in terms of the business cycle, but employment is still in the tank and consumer confidence is with it. The banks may be stable and the auto industry may be experiencing a rebirth, but the debt is rising and the cost of servicing it will explode when the economy finally turns around. Harper is not a fool, he knows this.

A little message for all that oppose strengthening our sovereignty in the north, you are fools. The Arctic represents our final frontier, a place of vast wealth and resources. It is a virtually undisturbed wilderness of intense beauty. The north is a place where you seek friends, not enemies. This is a pivotal time in the development of this nation, one in which we can either make it or break it. The entire planet is clamoring for resources to be utilized in productive efforts and our northern territories have these things in spades. This is our ticket folks, we can have it all, or we can roll over and give it away. We now have the technology and the financial wherewithal to do something for the first time in our nations history, lets not blow this off so easily.

The Dippers can hold a thousand conventions but it will not reverse their fortunes. As the union movement deteriorates their support base falls as well. If you remove the union support numbers from the NDP you go straight to single digits. They are mired in the perpetuation of mediocrity reducing all to the lowest commonality, they call it solidarity. Until they see the light and offer a radical difference in their approach they will but stuck where they are trying to reduce their losses instead of building and consolidating their gains. They fight a losing battle for their very existence.

Federal deficit hit 5 Billion in JUNE
Jerry J. Fortin replied to Topaz's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Here we go again, lets spend our way out of debt! That only works when you are a business and have some chance of making a profit. How does the government profit aside from taxation? Those realized profits received from taxation are a bad gamble at best and they will take many years to realize. Lets look at spending first. -
Canadian Cash for Clunkers
Jerry J. Fortin replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Cash for clunkers? I think not, then again I was against the auto bailout in the first place. The program would make sense to those that supported the bailout, but it makes no sense to me. Either we are a capitalistic society or not, this kind of thing suggests not. -

All through the west things are beginning to stabilize, but jobs are still tough to come by. In the east it is far worse, this was a strange recession and its recovery will be even more strange. Manufacturing jobs are not going to come back this time, Ontario is in for some real tough times. -
Iggy has taken the summer to gauge the public. Lets face it folks nobody wanted an election over the summer. The time was used to trap Harper, and it worked. Yet the public still doesn't want an election. Now the media is engaged to stir up the pot. An election is serious business and Iggy simply can't afford to through caution to the wind. Harper may be able to hold onto power, but the only way to really find out is with an election call. Iggy will want to be absolutely sure he can defeat Harper before he pulls the trigger, because if he is wrong it cost cost him dearly.

The Americans should have tried and convicted him in the first place. It was their moral duty to seek resolution in a court of law. For whatever reason this was not done, justice is waiting.

I hear you dude, but smallc is right. Rights are for everyone.
