  1. WE have private insurance plans for just about everything, and those that can afford these things buy them. Others who cannot at least get get minimum coverage for health care. That is a good thing, but here are many flawed things happening here. We have begun to journey down the path of corporate governance and corporate welfare. We are beginning to spend far more than we have and will soon be forced to cut programs ans services to balance the books. Our taxes are going up and the value of our money will become eroded.
  2. They always will be. You see the system we have is the one we wanted, and it is the one we will keep. Those hybrid systems do in fact cost the governments less, but the costs are simply passed along to the consumer. I must agree that our system needs a tune up, and I think that may be all that it needs.
  3. I must agree with you, point taken.
  4. Good warfare? Herein lays the root of the problem. War is hell, death and destruction are the consequences of war. The issue here is aborting F22 production, and the consequences of this development. Originally it was my desire to somehow gain access to this airframe and use it for the defense of Canada's northern frontier. I have since learned the folly of that concept. From that point in this discussion forward I have taken the position that another high tech approach may well be a possible solution to our problem. Here is how I view the situation; our northern borders are largely undefended and we are incapable at the present time of changing that reality. What I propose is that we undertake efforts to provide at least a minimum level of defensive capabilities to our armed forces in order to safeguard our sovereignty in the north. To do this I believe that the most viable approach is to increase point defense systems based at existing radar bases, and begin to enhance any capabilities from that point northward. I suggest we utilize our existing resources and infrastructure as a foundation for further development. As a first step I suggest the acquisition of cruise missiles to be based at those forward radar locations and in addition we need to provide air defense systems for those bases.
  5. Son't worry, Iggy will pull the plug if Harper doesn't.
  6. There are thousands of things that need doing. Fighting fires in BC is about job one right now.
  7. Yeah it happens to be the reason we haven't had an election.
  8. How about neither! Why not get people to work for a living, as in if you want a government paycheck you may actually have to do something for it.
  9. My first choice was in fact a major buildup of forces in the north. I have since come to the conclusion that there are less costly and more efficient ways of getting the job done ASAP.
  10. Mixing morals and political party's, thats like mixing your drinks!
  11. I think the topic should be changed to lack of honour caused killings.
  12. Should the axis of the supernova be aligned with the earth we may in fact have a problem.
  13. I am willing to bet that he is trying to be no more and no less visible than Harper.
  14. If what Harper has done is what you call success, I would hate to see what your idea of a failure is.
  15. I almost hate it when you are right BC.
  16. We have a plan at least. Rest assured I will keep an eye on the dollar.
  17. They are effective that is for sure. Isn't there a cruise missile deployment system as well?
  18. BC you are wrong. We are going ahead with a new oil terminal, despite the tree hugger opposition to large tankers on our coast. There is also a new potash terminal being build at Ridley Island for the Sask. Potash Corp. Ridley is going to get real busy very soon, as in with the next few years. CN's new intermodal terminal at Prince Rupert is going to start its 2nd phase this fall and the 3rd phase is scheduled for 2011. All of these things represent a vast expansion in shipping capability all aimed at the Pacific Rim. The oil pipeline should be linked to Kitimat within the next year or so. That is for the single purpose of delivering Alberta oil sand production to China.
  19. Yeah no doubt about that. Another flaw in our system.
  20. Yeah we did, and for good reason. There are lots of folks who are not fond of cluster weapons either.
  21. Okay. So what do you think we should do?
  22. We don't want weakened exports at all BC. The dollar price is determined on the open market, not here or in your place either. It is what it is. Our exports will be enhanced with the Pacific Rim plan and that is just good business.
  23. I am not suggesting they be the single line of defense dude. I am suggesting they be the front line. The expendable production that does not endanger our civilian or military population.
