  1. On this we agree! How refreshing! I am not sure about that. I know we funded a small portion of research but I am not aware of any planned purchases. I will look into this and get back to you.
  2. Mr. Canada has some difficultly tracking all of his fabrications.
  3. Harper can say what he likes the reality is born out in the makeup of his caucus and the views found within.
  4. These public forums are a great way to form your own opinions based on the enhanced knowledge of the massed public. Together we learn more from each other then we could hope to do so on our own.
  5. I would suggest that a "for profit" approach is wrong. On the other hand, creating crown corporations for the purpose of service delivery in the private sector founded upon a "non-profit" model has merit. If you think about it, you will conclude that while you are reducing the ranks of public service employees, you are also tackling the bureaucracy problems. You can begin dealing with patronage appointments at the hands of politicians and through that be addressing corruption. You can realize a net benefit from reduced expenditures. All of this without seeking a profit.
  6. We can argue what could have been till the cows come home. The end result was a canceled program and billions of lost tax dollars and thousands of lost jobs because of a political decision by the CONSERVATIVE government. They, the Conservatives, have an excellent track record of pissing away tax dollars for political reasons. At this point, there are few options. The only real alternative to shipping jobs and tax dollars out of the country would be to have Bombardier recruited to provide the next generation of military aircraft for Canada.
  7. Gee, let me see. Did the Jews show up at the Olympics and murder a bunch of folks to make a political point? Did the Jews launch rocket attacks in an indiscriminate manner? Did the Jews strap C4 on themselves and see how many folks they could take out on a street corner? Did the Jews ever hold a telethon to pay out tens of thousands of dollars to the families of suicide bombers? The Arabs have done these things. In addition they hide behind their own people and then dare the Jews to react! They are cowards and criminals that support terrorism. The Jews did some things when they were trying to create their nation, as all citizens do, nothing new there. To claim that they are as bad as or worst than those scum that are acting in the way they do today is simply asinine.
  8. Another Arab genius. Lets throw rockets at Israel from Gaza to gain control of the West Bank! Me thinks the plan was a tad flawed.
  9. The choice was not there, period.
  10. The Arrow was designed to use the RR engine, when its failure took place, Avro was compelled to add the Orenda engine. The plane was too far, in hindsight it appears that way. The truth is another story altogether.
  11. It wasn't a choice of one or the other. In fact the two were not even remotely related.
  12. True enough, but to place it in a sentence with communism?
  13. Interesting comment! Well, I suppose I could say thankyou then, but the reality is that the arms race started by the second world war did not end for many years. Because we had a product that they were interested in. That is why they were providing test facilities and equipment. The engine, Iroquois, was designed and built in Canada. The Missile and fire control systems were modified from the original American configuration. The nation did not make the decision to kill the project, the government did. Really? Just what weapon are you refering to? The Bomarc? Canada had the resources as was evident in the status of the program at its cancellation. Further to that the airframe did not require the re-purposing you claim. They were ordered to destroy the aircraft and all of the documentation. That leaves more questions than it provides answers.
  14. So why not let you deduct your mortgage from your taxes, the government won't have to pay you and you would have a higher disposable income.
  15. You are going to have to explain this to me please. Because of the harm it caused us and the direction the nation has had to take as a result. You point was made based on a mission that changed and rendered the plane useless, therefore a political decision was made to end the project. In fact the mission did not change, the bomber programs continued for decades AFTER THE PROJECT CANCELLATION. You are the one running in circles! I have successfully disputed every point you have made.
  16. The fact is that Hamas were launching rockets into Israel without regard for the resulting damages. Gaza should consider itself lucky that Israel did not pour an equal percentage of their GDP into their little corner of the world with as much disdain for human life as they did.
  17. Presumptions of innocence are very dangerous. The people of Gaza are dropping like flies and will continue to do so for some time yet. Even that will not stop this war, because when Gaza is done for there are all those folks in the West Bank to deal with. The reality is that the only solution for the Jews is to respond with all its might whenever they are forced to do so. They don't start these things but they try very hard to finish them. Gaza must die, it is either that or there will be more rocket attacks from Gaza. Let us reverse the situation, let Canada start tossing rockets at the USA. How would they respond? How would you expect them to respond? Who would be at fault?
  18. Are you suggesting that a triple E senate is as functional as Communism?
  19. Yet there is some truth in what was said. Wasn't the first Israeli Prime Minister a wanted terrorist? The British tried to hunt him down but were not entirely successful because the man went on to achieve many other things. I must also agree that those early Jewish terrorists never did anything like what has and is being done to them and for those reasons no comparison can be made.
  20. The point is, by majority decision they choose a terrorist group to govern them. That was their choice, and now it is their responsibility and that equates to a huge liability in political terms. I would not bother to rebuild Gaza myself, unless it was an Israeli settlement. Turn it into the garden of Eden at the hands of the Jews, give the Arabs something to ponder.
  21. Enter the concept of "Fortress North America", unfortunately this is beginning to make more sense all the time.
  22. It was a one trick pony design, and it worked. The facts are history, they cannot be changed. The reason the Arrow was canceled was political, it was not a military decision, the need still existed and still exists today for interceptors. The government was lead down the path of the American military industrial complex. Canada was and is special as far as our air defense requirements go. Each nation has its own requirements, to believe otherwise is folly. The rules that bound the rest of the world which you refer to simply ignore the reality of building modern aircraft from scratch. We needed far more that a single plant to build the plans. We had to create specific technologies and apply them in ways never used before. Dozens of spinoff industries were needed and created to do the job. Meanwhile the mission never did go away, and long range bombers now represent the most expensive strategic air asset in both the US and Russian inventory, the only thing more expensive are naval assets. The B2 is about a billion dollars a copy. Yes the USAF assisted, but that wasn't my point. Their industries and their political influence were part of the problem, the USAF assisted because they faced the same air frame problems and learned from the Canadian efforts. They were more than a little impressed with the Iroquois on the B47, all engines were shut down and the single Canadian engine provided massive thrust to the point of acceleration! The fire control issues you cite were another matter, as I said they could not get the Astra Missile system to work, but we did! Yes the decision was Canadian and we do own it. The Conservatives killed the Arrow, and it was indeed folly. The plane did what it was supposed to do, the plane was not at fault. The company did what it was supposed to do, it was not at fault. The government shrank the number of planes then complained that the price was too high. Strangely enough the company was willing to take the loss and produce the planes, but then the government broke the contract and canceled the project altogether. It was the fault of the government, nobody else.
  23. Independents will never get elected to the point of forming a government, and free votes will never be the norm in the Commons. You need a political party, with a majority to make a real dent in the problem. The market for political parties will be changing quickly as the year goes on. This government and its opposition will find the public very open to new ideas.
  24. What can you expect? Hundreds of texts were discarded and only what you see in the new Testament was kept. This was done to make a state religion. What it sought to accomplish, and in my opinion it did, was to deify Christ. Its whole focus was that Jesus was in fact God manifesting himself in human form. Look at the Holy Trinity concept to understand this. There are fragments of some of these discarded texts still in existence and they are know as the Gnostic Gospels. Some of these have been authenticated to mere decades after Christs death and are supposedly attributed to the apostles, or at least some of them. Mary has a gospel according to the Gnostics.
