The information should be made public. Otherwise, articles such as this will reach conclusions based on nothing but 'stories'. If there's a problem then let's talk about it. As it is, the article contradicts itself. As the article states - there is no information. Yet they have no qualms about reaching conclusions based on anecdotal evidence. Try googling further. The descent into lawlessness of Malmo, Sweden upon receiving a large Muslim immigrant popularton is a disturbing issue.

Canadian troops making things worse: Afghan legislator
jbg replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Actually, Afghanistan had a stable parliamentary constitutional monarchy for a long time before 1973, when the Soviets, backing Taracki, I think (or maybe that was the 1978 coup) overthrew the monarch. As for Western Europe, Germany and Austria only had a brief interwar interlude with freedom. It didn't work spectacularly well. -
This article shows a situation where the US, Israel and/or Harper cannot be blamed for savagery. Can Blair be blamed? Deadly stampede at rally in Yemen(link)51 KILLED, 200 HURT AFTER PRESIDENT'S CAMPAIGN SPEECH By Ahmed Al-Haj Associated Press SAN`A, Yemen -- A stampede broke out Tuesday in a stadium packed with thousands of people for an election campaign rally for Yemen's president, killing at least 51 people and injuring more than 200, including youths bused in for the event. The tragedy came as President Ali Abdullah Saleh -- in power for nearly 30 years -- is campaigning in the oil-rich nation's first competitive presidential elections, set for Sept. 20, against a single rival who has drawn tens of thousands to his rallies. ``The spontaneous scramble of Yemeni people who rushed out with huge crowds to take part in the electoral rally is a clear evidence that Yemenis are lovers of democracy,'' he was quoted as saying by the Yemeni official news agency. *snip* The stampede broke out minutes after Saleh finished addressing the rally and left the stadium. Participants were constantly moving in and out of the stadium. Medical and security officials said the stampede broke out when some people leaving ran into those entering, causing some to trip and fall and be trampled. Overcrowding and a lack of clearly marked exits contributed to the stampede, the officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the press. A statement from the Ibb provincial government put the death toll at 51 with more than 230 injured. Witnesses reported seeing children and teens among the bodies brought out from the crowd. Opposition groups called for an investigation and urged the government to punish those responsible for the tragedy. The government announced that campaign rallies will continue. *snip*

Since when do fundamentalist Christians (stop using the offensive contraction, please) regularly blow themselves up to cause indiscriminate death. I am not Christian, but your comparison is vile. My point is that one is barbaric, the other isn't. Even if that were, that's a very major difference. One's civilized. One isn't.

Can the Clash Between Islam and Western Religions be Resolved?
jbg replied to jbg's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
Tell me that what you've just recited has anything to do with what's described here (July 17, 2005 New York Times article excerpted below) (Link): People who talk about negotiations with anyone who could set that up are just plain nuts. Of course, one could say, in a way a very original and enterprising manner to seize on an opportunity. The opportunity to kill that many was too good to miss. While we build, those "people" kill. -

It is about as eloquent as your post. I meant it as a compliment. I thought your post was quite well-reasoned, thoughtful and sensitive. I appreciate your compliment in turn. -
Try googling "Malmo", "Islam" and either "violence", "rape" or "police". Try providing a link Try this link - excerpts below Muslim Rape Epidemic in Sweden and Norway - Authorities Look the Other Way Numbers released in January 2005 indicate a sharp rise in the number of rape charges in Malmö, Sweden’s third largest city: Thomas Anderberg, responsible for statistics at the Malmö Police, says there was a doubling of the number of reported rapes by ambush in 2004, following what was already a decade of steadily increasing numbers of sexual crimes. - I think that’s great news, says Anna Gustafsson, head of the Domestic Violence Unit at the Malmö Police. She suggests that the increase is due to the fact that women who otherwise wouldn’t press charges for rape now choose to contact the police. In other words, Gustafsson claims that we are dealing with a “technical” increase, not a real one. However, national statistics reveal that reported rapes against children have almost doubled in Sweden during the past ten years: According to Swedish Radio on Tuesday, statistics from Sweden’s National Council for Crime Prevention show that the number of reported rapes against children is on the rise. The figures have nearly doubled in the last ten years: 467 rapes against children under the age of 15 were reported in 2004 compared with 258 in 1995. Legal proceedings continue this week in a case involving a 13 year old girl from Motala who was said to have been subjected to a group rape by four men. (Note: These four men were Kurdish Muslims, who raped the girl for hours and even took photos of doing so) The number of rape charges per capita in Malmö is 5 – 6 times that of Copenhagen, Denmark. Copenhagen is a larger city, but the percentage of immigrants is much lower. And it’s not just the rape statistics that reveal a scary increase in Malmö or Sweden. Virtually every kind of violent crime is on the rise. Robberies have increased with 50 % in Malmö only during the fall of 2004. Threats against witnesses in Swedish court cases have quadrupled between 2000 and 2003. During the past few decades, massive immigration has changed the face of Sweden’s major cities, as well as challenged the viability of the welfare state. In 1970 Sweden had the fourth highest GDP per capita among developed countries with income about 6% above the OECD average. By 1997 it was at fifteenth place with an average GDP per capita 14% below average. Malmö has a heavy concentration of Muslim immigrants in particular. According to some estimates, it will be a Muslim majority city in no more then 10 years. Crime is rampant in the growing ghettos: Becirov runs the Islamic Center of Malmö, on the outskirts of Sweden's third-largest city. Some immigrant neighborhoods in the city have (official) unemployment rates exceeding 50 percent. Swedish authorities have failed to lift up the area, and seem to be giving the Islamic Center of Malmö a great deal of leeway in attempting to do so. An article that appeared in 2003 noted that "a few" of the 6-to 10-year-old girls were wearing headscarves. On a visit in January 2005, fully 80 percent were covered in class--only a handful were not. In a fit of absent-mindedness, Sweden has suddenly become as heavily populated by minorities as any country in Europe. The percentage of foreign-born is roughly equivalent to the highest percentage of immigrants the United States ever had in its history (on the eve of World War I). Rosengård appears to be all-immigrant. The public schools have virtually no ethnically Swedish children. There are stories--familiar in other parts of Europe where immigrants from the Muslim world have recently settled--of students harassing Jewish teachers and defacing textbooks that treat Jewish themes. Crime is high. Is it unfair and “racist” to suggest a link between the influx of Muslim immigrants and the growing number of rapes? Not if we compare with the situation in neighboring Denmark, where this trend has been evident for years: *snip* The conclusion one may draw from this is that the authorities in Sweden and Norway know about, or should know about, a disturbing amount of Muslim immigrant rapes of native Scandinavian women, yet choose not to make this information known to the public. Perhaps it would be just too politically incorrect to reveal the negative effects of decades of naïve immigration policies. Perhaps it would also destroy too many multicultural pipe dreams among the intellectual elites, who have built their current careers and reputations on advocating how culturally and economically enriching this new population mix would be. So in the end, the safety of young Scandinavian women is sacrificed in order to keep the glossy image of a multicultural society intact. It is a chilling demonstration of an Eurabian continent that now appears to care more about not upsetting relations with its immigrant population than about protecting its own citizens. posted by Fjordman @ 5:00 PM

Is there a translation, either into English or Canadian, of this forum? Pardon? And your question? I asked if there was a translation of French-language forum referenced above into either English or Canadian language?

Couldn't agree more. It started with the post of Tsi Nikayen' Enonhne to the effect that the people who died were the "unfortunate victims of a rebellion". The offending post was: ================================================================== Are you saying your opening posts on this Board, reeking with Jew hatred, were "first class"?

I understand you to be a Western self-hater who does not understand that he/she/it is entitled to the standard of living they earned through their labor. I feel strongly that the West has, on balance, been a force for good in the world. Not perfect, mind you. I do not consider Argus to be a racist. I think he's telling it like it is, more bluntly than you like. The truth hurts. What does "Trudeaumania" have to do with 911, unless you're admitting that the moral relativism or lack of any standards may have cross-fertilized with the Left, whose views in turn bleeded into Islamofascism.

Can the Clash Between Islam and Western Religions be Resolved?
jbg replied to jbg's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
Indeed there were, but rather than address them, the US (and it's media) chose to pretend that it was all about Bin Laden hating 'freedom and democracy'. The biggest 3 were: US troops out of the Saudi Peninsula, end of US support for Israel, and the end of US support for 'apostate' and often tyrannical Islamic 'puppet regimes'. And we were supposed to give in on those "demands"? -
No question about it, 1000 years of war leading up to 1945. But I wouldn't put Churchill in that group. That was defensive. We have had the US Civil War, the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, the French and Indian War (you call it the Seven Years' War), and the Spanish-American War. Clearly, we're better than Europe but don't go overboard in praise. Secretaries sitting at desks deserved to die? Police officers? Fire fighters who rushed into the building. Did the Islamists have any idea who they were butchering? Did they care? I do not want to cross the line here, but I am angry with this post. Very angry. I need to calm down.

Why does that make a difference? At certain level we are no different from Islamists - we have our religion (democracy) and we want all other peoples on earth to adopt that religion and are willing to go to war to ensure it. We have no Gods to appoint leaders so we rely on 'the people' to choose them instead. We are so absolutly convinced in the righteousness of our beliefs that we cannot even comprehend how someone cannot see why our 'religion' is superior to anything they have now. You point outo, correctly, in the FN threads that one reason that ancient "treaties" may no longer be binding is the disproportionate number of non-FN's compared to FN's, and the needs of a democratic society in that regard. I find your arguments inconsistent; on one hand, forcing compliance with FN treaties is undemocratic (and I basically agree with you there), and on the other than leadrs of democracies are as bad as raping, slaughtering Islamists.

The menace of terror must be confronted
jbg replied to Leafless's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
That may take some time. I do point out that existing engagements are keeping the jihadis "busy" elsewhere. Even the attacks that have occurreed, the London and Spanish train attacks, were puny compared to September 11. -
I think Harper should advocate bi-lingualism in Quebec. What's sauce for the goose...
-
There is a difference. With JFK's death, there was no ambiguity in people's reaction. In the case of 9/11, even your PM suggested that the US deserved it. It was thus important to "humanize" what was and is becoming a politicized event. The killings were senseless and indiscriminate. Lee Harvey Oswald may have done something horrid. It was not random, though. His objective was to kill one person, not as many as possible.

I'm getting a bit tired of your blatant anti-Judaism.

Don't be sure sure he won't get a majority, but even at that he would never bring in a draft, why would you even think that. Heck, its a democrat in the U.S. putting forward a bill to bring back the draft. Rangel I believe. Yes. The Rangel bill's purpose is to make the Iraq War unpopular. The bill's purpose is to scare people. He's not serious about its enactment. Trust me on that.

Wow, what a great way to start a conversation. Brand everyone who disagrees with you a dumbass... I'm sure this will be a great discussion. The perfect definition of a troll? Better as a campaign theme then: Stephen Harper is eating your children In his kitchen; At 24 Sussex Drive; In Ottawa; In Ontario; In Canada We're not making this up. We're not allowed to make this up.

Beautiful and overwhelming. How senseless.

No, to the brave troops that are keeping the jihadis busy elsewhere.

And what does that make Canadian and American politicians who depend on young soldiers willing to volunteer to 'spread the faith' (a.k.a democracy) with the end of a gun? Elected representatives chosen to make those decisions.
