  1. We don't need calculus or trig to graduate with an Education degree.
  2. I can't believe your high level of ignorance about the topic of education. That scares me.
  3. I have the proper requirements. There is too much emphasis on math and not enough on social justice. And some of you who criticize unions need to learn the facts. A friend of mine in Manitoba sent me this information. Wy don't yo do yourself some good by reading it and understanding . http://www.mbteach.org/unionwatch/unionmain.html
  4. I didn't post during school hours. Anyway, here is another article from the Globe and Mail that is mostly nonsense. I don't get how people with no backround in education think they are experts. The 300 comments that follow the article are again filled with people who don't understand modern mathematics. Go to teachers' college and read the latest research to understand current trends. Memorizing timestables and doing long division are relics of the ancient past. Time to move on and help kids UNDERSTAND math. That's the key wor that some of you can't grasp. UNDERSTAND. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/commentary/whos-failing-math-the-system/article14112165/
  5. Where's Jack Weber..LOL

  6. Kind of hard when a teacher is rsponsible for teaching 80-100 outcomes per year. You people who think you have all the answers obviously have never been in a modern classroom. Acting like an expert on a topic you know nothing about makes people look foolish.
  7. I said to look at the unreliable source. Math facts, long division, long multiplication are for dinosaurs. Go teach a math class and understand how learners learn before beeking me. Everyone's an expert typing at their computers. I suppose. What Cyber is telling you is that the link you provided presents evidence that directly refutes what you have previously stated to be the preferred new teaching methods. In simpler terms, just so you can understand, the link says that you are wrong when you state the new ways are better. Do you understand what I'm trying to tell you? What I personally find hilarious is the fact that you provided a link as evidence of your point and it actually plainly states that you are full of sh*t. You couldn't make that up. Its just too damned good to be true! And you say you're going to be a teacher...LOL.
  8. Well, if you're going to whine, then there is no point debating with you.
  9. Why do you think you are such an authority on education? Everyone has to think your way or they aren't credible. No wonder this country is in trouble.
  10. This proves that drill and kill doesn't work. There needs to be a more open ended style of mathematics taught in schools. Let kids discover math strateies on their own which will foster understanding. I have a link, but I do not like the source as they are right -wing puppets to corporate intererests. http://www.torontosun.com/2013/09/01/math-scores-sag-despite-liberal-spending

Let's see. Can a "strong" world leader get allies to sign on with him for a 2 day bombing run? Can an untested party leader win an election?

If these two are examples of good leaders, it's a wonder so much of the world keeps trucking along as well as it does.

Obama's obviously more conservative than Harper.

  12. New math is gaining momentum. 4 x 3 = 11 and it's fine in common core as long as the student can explain how he arrived at the answer. This is rea, new age math folks.
  13. I see cybercoma lives in the Dark Ages when it comes to education al advancement. Technology is the future. memorizin facts are useless. Why do students need to memorize anything when they can Goole it in 5 seconds. Think about that. That opens the brain to meaningful learnin, and more importantly, understanding. It amazes me the people who haven't been in a classroom in years are somehow experts on education.
  14. Yes. look at what this innovative teacher in Windsor is doing. Look at the learners in the picture...look how engaged they are. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/windsor/story/2013/06/19/wdr-teacher-tweeting-classroom-award.html Also, educators are bein recognized for their great twitter skills. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/story/2013/07/17/mb-blue-jay-bridge-teacher-twitter-award-winnipeg.html
  15. Students need cell phones in the classroom to facillitate learning. I will be using my cell phone as a tool. We need to teach students how to use cell phones, facebook, twitter, instagram etc. as tools and how to use them properly. I know some teachers who are teaching learners 5 and 6 years old how to tweet. Awesome things are happening in education. http://www.cbc.ca/hamilton/news/story/2013/08/17/toronto-cell-phone-ban.html
  16. Last night's by-election results reveal the public supports public sector unions., keeping Ontarion strong. PCs are done.

lol socialist talking about debating... I still think he is someone's imagination of what a socialist is but then again there are all kinds of people in this world...

  17. I have an excellent understanding of what went down, and how it went down. If you tick off the teachers' union, good luck etting elected. We are powerful.
  18. Oh, blame Martin. You guys make me laugh with your lack of knowledged of what really went down.
  19. As long as Hudak doesn't win. We don't need them to gut public education the way Harris did.
  20. If you can read this, thank a public educator.

Grammar, spelling, and proper punctuation are really important these days. But good for you...and your mommy.

      GostHacked

Remember you are the one who said those three things are not that important in this day and age.

Now you are doing a 180?

      I don't like hypocritical teachers.

Sorry, I meant to say "aren't". This is the 21st century, ya know?

  21. Your mon doesn't matter. Liberals voting PC will dilute that party, so maybe your mom is doing a good thing.
  22. Not the people I talk too. The Liberals were supposed to lose last election.....but what happened?
  23. Could, but won't. Kathleen Wynne is doing an admirable job, and she has made ammends to the teacher unions which will return a pile of votes to the Liberals.
  24. I guess you don't understand the movement. Read up. (sigh)
  25. I don't see how your reply has anything to do with my comment.
