It is our job as educators to bring politics in the classroom to create critical thinkers. I have no problem expressing my views. I talk to many teachers who, last year, taught their learners what would happen to Ontario if Hudak won. Educators look to support the collective community.
Mighty AC, toy are very scientifically astute. I'm still in the process of studying and learning.
Would you say that intelligent design is not a part of science?
You're off topic, ash, again.
The BC government is trying to squeeze the life out of public education while giving more to private schools.
The assault on public education by neo-liberals is not new, but it is definitely growing across North America. An assault on public education is essentially an assault on democracy. Can you even begin to realize that?
You cannot compare individual debt to government debt. It reveals a lack of knowledge.
If I go into deep debt because I bought a Ferrari, that is one thing. Bit a government goes into debt because it provides essential services and those services are always costing more.
Your welcome for the simple economic lesson that seems to evade you.
The more I hear him debate, the more impressed I become with Ian Capstick. A true voice and leader representing the progressive left in this country. A true breath of fresh air.
He is all right for a pinko commie. I have read his work on rabble. Agree with his gay rights stance and for his latest on the latest floor crossing but other than that well he writes well.
I'm an advocate for public education in all Canadian provinces. I keep up to date with what is happening everywhere. Right now, educators in BC are having a tough time because the government is under funding education. Wynne will not make the same mistake in Ontario.
It sounds like things are getting heated in BC, and once again it is the province's educators and unions leading the charge to expose the nonsense. The BC government is not properly funding BC education and people are getting fed up.

The neo-liberal attack on unions won't end well.
Oh squid, come now. Are you still bent out of shaping trying to prove your fake conspiracy. I guess you're jealous because you will never earn a masters degree like me, so you feel the need to try and bully me. I feel sorry for you; I really do.
Overall, we are more dedicated to our learners. I high % of Canadian teachers are working towards a masters degree. People think we work for our masters degree for the increase in pay, but we work towards our masters so we are better prepared to help all types of learners.
Ash, you genuinely seem like a nice guy. But you are not trained as an educator. You really don't kn ow what works and what doen't. You haven't read the research to prove that Discovery learning is superior.
I'll tell you what. Go to your kids school tomorrow and have a chat with the principal. Ask him or her if the school is focusing on 21st century skills. Maybe their explanation will satisfy you. Get off this forum and do your own investigating. Once you hear the truth from experts, I'm confident you will change your tune, which seems stuck in the 70s.
In today's schools, we focus on 21st century skills such as critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration, because we heard that that is what employers seek. Grammar is somewhat important but not as important as the Cs of 21st century skills.
As a Canadian educator, I know how many hours I put into this job, along with all my colleagues. You can cry anecdotal all you want, but I live it every day.
There is more emphasis on the explanation and the how in math, instead of just memorizing an answer. This is what you don't understand , ash. You haven't attended any PD on the subject. I have. I hear what the experts say. Here's a short clip that explains it.
The evidence speaks for itself. I've been saying this for a long time here, but few people on this forum want to discuss facts. Well, this research article proves that I was right once again.
