  1. Gosthacked, are you a scientist by profession?
  2. Do you think that what makes ID a pseudoscience is that it is religion masquerading as science? If ID is something other than a science, what would you say it is?
  3. I don't believe government debt is all that big a deal. Debt is how we ensure that those who use assets like roads pay for them when they use them through gas tax, etc. To avoid all debt we would have to pay for infrastructure like roads at the time of construction and not at time of use. Services consumed today like education and medical care are not financed by debt to be paid for in the future.
  4. Unions fight for the good of the lower and middle class. Why would you be against that?
  5. I focus on the environment...eco-justice and social justice.
  6. The principal said.... So the principal of this school has inside info that no one else has? Double If there are changes, you will barely notice them.
  7. I haven't heard anything. I foresee something similar to what Manitoba did; change a few words in the curriculum to appease the rabid back to basic fanatics. I see you can't provide a citation though. Oh well.
  8. So you work for Pearson International, largest receivers of corporate welfare in the world. American education thinks filling bubbles on standardized test is quality education. That is why US education is dropping in world rankings while Finland and Canada remain near the top.
  9. I'e read the documents from the NEA. Public education in the USA is grossly underfunded.
  10. I'm talking about public schools. You know, the schools that those who aren't filthy rich get to go to.
  11. America has terrible public education due to under funding, but gives billions of taxpayers money to billionaire owners to build football stadiums. No brains I guess.
  12. Stockton, California is indicative of the declining American empire. Chomsky is one America's strongest voice of reason.
  13. I've always been a big fan of Noam Chomsky and his intelligence. Take a look at this interview with Ezra Levant. Chomsky wins hands down. http://www.therebel.media/ezra_levant_clashes_with_noam_chomsky_on_freedom_of_speech_in_america
  14. I was doing my classroom practice teaching at the time. That means I was a teacher. I wasn't a permanent contract teacher though, so you have me there.
  15. Who's brainwashing? Man made climate change is a fact. Deniers have no clue.
  16. No. Last year I said I was completing my degree. I was in my last year last spring. You are wrong.
  17. So you don't think I should care about the environment or social justice. Nice world we live in.
  18. PCT. Welcome back. I see you've recovered from the verbal lickin' I gave you in the strike thread. If you don't believe I'm a teacher, then so be it. That is your decision. I haven't come upon any bible thumping teachers that exist in your imagination. Your post is full of nonsense and not worth my time.
  19. Do you think I should remain neutral on climate change? Do you not think that learners should know that the planet is being destroyed bu greed, consumption, and corporatism. Should I be neutral in telling them that if we don't make changes, like imposing carbon taxes etc., the world they will one day be adults in will be decimated? Should I not tell them oceans rising will have catastrophic consequences? You need to get a copy of "Social Justice at the HEART of Education" This paper addresses some of the themes and ideas that were raised and discussed at the Canadian Teachers’ Federation (CTF) July 2014 President’s Forum on Social Justice. The author presents an overview of topics covered under the broad umbrella of social justice, and offers some definitions, examples, and illustrations of how educators might take up the challenge to put equity and social justice at the centre of their practice. Notions of privilege and identity are highlighted, with a call to encourage student and teacher activism, and a rethinking of teacher education for social justice. http://www.ctf-fce.ca/en/Pages/catalogue/Publications.aspx I know you won't read these because it's easier to remain ignorant about social justice, while complaining in the background. Social justice is one of the most important topics taught in school. Here are some references to help you gain even a slight understanding. Accountability and Standardized Testing: http://www.ctf-fce.ca/Research-Library/AccountabilityStandardizedTesting_PDP_Summer2006_6-2_EN.pdf http://www.ctf-fce.ca/Documents/SJC_BackgroundPapers_EN_web.pdf http://www.ctf-fce.ca/Documents/WorldPeaceForum_PDP_Summer2006_6-3_EN.pdf http://www.ctf-fce.ca/Documents/sl20043-e.pdf http://www.ctf-fce.ca/Research-Library/MLD_TchrUnionsofthe21stCentury_Nov2010.pdf http://www.bctf.ca/socialjustice.aspx I know you won't read these, ash, but if you did, you'd realize public schools is much more than learning boring math facts all day. We are preparing students to be global citizens. That's why the neo-liberals want to gut pubic education. Because we are standing in their way of total control. But thanks for posting the lyrics to a silly song. It says a lot.
  20. Those of us who fight for social justice get angry at the fact that the rich exploit the poor and weak.
  21. Would you characterize ID as a pseudoscience?
  22. Why would you delete your answer? You have a right to express your views....as do I.
  23. I didn't become a teacher to be neutral. It's not my job to be neutral when the topic of social justice is being discussed.
  24. Thanks for the reply, Angus. I appreciate it. I'm always trying to learn as I am life long learner. So you are feel that proponents of ID who characterize it as a scientific discipline or as a scientific theory are mistaken?
