Of course. But the impact on retailers is about a lot more than milk. If this was just a bout milk, then meh.
-
It doesn't affect the much at all. The quantity of milk that crosses the border compared to what's sold in Canada is minuscule. The milk industry in Canada has political power well beyond its size, hence its continued existence as a cartel. If cross border shopping was a problem for them, they would have already twisted the appropriate arms.

More guns = more homicides

Agreed. We don't need them, let's ban them. -
Perhaps. If so they're keeping it to themselves. Haven't heard any complaints in the media. They're probably much more worried about their cartel being bargained away in the TTP talks. Let's hope that American subsidies are also on the table.

Nope, it's based on nationality. Try advocating for not allowing Indo-Canadians to immigrate to Canada, and see if you wouldn't be accused of racism. Strictly speaking, the term racism is way overused, but we all understand that what is meant is bigotry. Bigotry just doesn't have the same panache and doesn't result in the same amount of reparations dollars if you are a victim of it, that's all. Indo-Canadians are free to associate and prevent others from joining them same as the Swedes you mentioned. If the Swedes kept out the Indo-Canadians, they would probably be accused of racism. Of course they might be Swedes of African origin, in which case that would be funny. But, accusations aside, it's legal for non-profit groups to discriminate. I don't have a problem with that, even if I don't agree with what they're doing. It would be kind of funny to see an Indo-Canadian soccer team populated by a bunch of blue eyed blond haired boys because they happen to be the best players tho.

Canadian dairy farmers are part of a cartel, it's a license to print money, profits are guaranteed. They're not worried, since you can only bring back $20 of milk at one time. Plenty of Canadian milk being sold in BC.
-
No business case for it, or it would have already been done. It is happening with milk in Lynden, where a dairy opened an outlet right by the border just for the Canadians. I believe this is for prime quality milk, not the antibiotic laden crap that Americans usually like to drink. But big diff in investment in a milk store and a Costco.

Just say no to drugs.

What premise is that, exactly? You seem to be trying to nail me for something, but I can't on the life of me figure out what it is.

I am. Seizure from one American: My link

You're confusing causing an uproar with being allowed. This is not illegal, whites could do the same thing if they choose, for all I know they do. As you say, it would cause an uproar, but the whites could just tell the uproarers to piss up a rope if they felt strongly about being exclusive. But most whites have been raised with guilt for being white, so they'd tuck tail and change their policies.

Of course it is. Vancouver earns a good chunk of its wealth from tourism as well, and we don't always embrace them. Of course with the Americans we're afraid to, since they probably snuck guns across the border and are as touchy as Ocifer Wawa.

You guys are taking this way too seriously.

You seem confused, maybe intentionally so. Here's what I said So these Indo-Canadians aren't racists, the Swedes wouldn't be racist if they chose to do this. Just people who want to hang together - why do we want to interfere? For private organizations you can make up rules as to include or exclude anybody you want - that's as it should be. Since neither Indo-Canadian or Swedo-Canadian are races, by definition it can't be racist. But we hurl racist at all sorts of things, so going by that laxer definiton, it's exclusion based on "race". It's legal, I don't see the problem with it, since this is a private club.

Nobody ever accused Americans of being the brightest bulbs in the chandelier. This happens basically in every tourist town. The tourists are sought after for their money, but not so much for the crowds they bring. This stuff goes back years. I've been called a cheesehead there, and I don't even go to big box stores. OTOH, I've met lots of great Americans. Like everywhere else, there's all kinds. Just way more nuts than we have in Canada, or at least nuts with guns.

What, are you running a grow op or something? Really, you can barely afford your energy bills? Have to choose between food and heating your home? Funny how those Chermans, with much more expensive energy costs don't all freeze in the dark.

Read my whole post and you will have your answer, it's right there. You just need to read past your trigger point.

Wow, the pc cant comes out. How can you write this crap without barfing? Discrimination against brown people bad, discrimination against white people good. With the continuing shrinking of the proportion of white people in Canada, will you at least set a marker of when we can reverse this, start discriminating in favor of the white minority? In Vancouver whites make up 50% of the population. Punjabis and Chinese have very strong communities. Have we met your marker yet for not allowing discrimination against whites? That said, this is a private organization. They can do what they want, the more power to them.

Michigan Cop visiting Calgary - what a world view!

I don't think they went for culture, since gun culture isn't really that attractive. -
This is a private club, and yes those can exclude on any basis they choose. But not if they get govt funding - in that case the govt should withdraw the funding.
-
If they don't take any money from the govt, it's their business if they want to exclude non-Indo-Canadians. If they get a cent of govt money, (including using govt facilities) that's a different matter, and should be stopped. But good point - can you imagine the outcry if a white group did this? I wonder how this group feels about Hindus, since they are undoubtedly Indo-Canadian, but not Sikhs like these guys are. Or Muslims of Indian descent for that matter. Christians? Jains? Buddhists? Would they make them feel welcome?

Apparently so, or made out of sterner stuff, since they don't go whinging about how unsafe they feel when they don't have their gun with them. Sure. And you do realize the US has way more gun crime than we do, since you're all locked in an arms race with each other. -

I assume that anybody that whines that they need a gun when approached by strangers is living in way more paranoia than is good for them. The RCMP you mention are trained to not use their guns unless the other person has a weapon and represents a clear threat. They know there will be an inquiry into their actions, and they'd better have just cause. When they go home, they don't walk around armed, yet somehow manage to to stay cowering in their homes. If most people are carrying weapons while walking about, what are the crooks going to do? I know what I would do, draw and shoot first, before my victim can. It's just an escalation of violence, and, as we see from the statistics, that is exactly what happens down in paranoia land. Way more shootings. -

Yes I was. It's been known to happen. I'm just glad this guy is back where he belongs, feeling safe with this gun. Certainly not an incident that would make anybody want to visit Kalamazoo, even with the cool name and all. The last three letters of the name seem apt. Imagine getting lost in that town and trying to ask directions. I guess you yell out "Can you tell me where..." as you hit the dirt.
