  1. Your right technically, however assange will be formally charged when he hits swedish soil. As for the arrest, there was a court order for his arrest. When mr. Judge wants to see mr. Assange, mr. Assange is pretty much SOL. When there is a court issued warrant for arrest, bad guy is usually screwed.
  2. The swedes have those rape charges on him and assange skipped his bail hearing. Why would he be arrested by the brits in the first place? The brits should have remanded him and they wouldn't be in this mess. I'd rather defend the most powerful entity on earth that promotes freedom and enables a person improving themselves than the other entities out there...
  3. But we've never had a deal with europe, it was always trade at their mercy, and I know first hand my industry's dealings with the gong show that is europe. Europe is going to go through one hell of a temper tantrum when they realize that ag subsidies will have to be cut and they'll have to change their attitudes towards gmo's. Perhaps that's a card harper can play if they come asking for money.
  4. If lefty environmentalists hate industry as your saying and want it driven out, how do they propose they generate wealth to maintain their standard of living? Or do we have a case of the kennedy's?
  5. What part of a 2 percent increase of worldwide energy consumption don't you understand? To take fossil fuels out of the equation no matter how slow means people being put in the poor house. Not only will fossil fuel production have to increase, but alternatives as well to fill in the demand. Unless you decide to dictate to countries with a population of more than 2 billion people they will have to go back to being poor because some elitists in the northern hemisphere who are already rich have a guilt complex. Japan entered world war 2 because of a lack of energy. What you propose is not only arrogant, but dangerous.
  6. Are we getting screwed? I recall eastern canada making out like bandits after nafta got signed. The numbers don't lie, free trade has been beneficial for this country.
  7. It isn't a biggie, the western standard of living is well worth the risk of the once in a blue moon ship wreck. Why do you think china does those massive projects? So here's the question again with worldwide energy consumption increasing by 2 percent per year how are you going to meet that goal without reducing living standards? I think we know your answer to that one, damn everyone else so waldos parents can live the high life so waldo can "educate" people on the internet that oil is the devil and shouldn't be developed. As for my digs, here's an idea, how about smartening up the tone of your posts when you reply to people who disagree with you and then maybe I'll quit with the cheap shots. Its not nice when people have to deal with juvenile posts is it?
  8. That would depend on the intelligence of the owners of said oil and delivery system now would it. If both have a brain in their head they both benefit. We can look at it in terms of patented products. An inventor will get around 5-10 percent of a products revenue if he goes through the proper channels. How much does the salesman who sells said products to consumers get? The company that develops the product gets a healthy slice and rightfully so. So in that sense as far as delivery goes, the original terms were fair. Without the people making products, the salesman has nothing to sell and therefore no job. Given the alternatives availible, salesmen aren't that expensive. Just like the pipelines and power cable. Once there are alternatives that delivery system becomes cheaper and cheaper. Had quebec played nice with the original deal with nfld, they would have a second set of power lines running thru the province. However since quebec politicians are socialist idiots, they've squandered yet another resource.
  9. If the chinese can build the three gorges dam and alter river flows, I'm pretty sure we can build a pipeline north and ship oil to china. And not to worry about spills, enbridge has been well practiced in spill cleanup. But then people other than waldos parents would have money and that wouldn't do for poor waldo.
  10. How has it dampened, a google search shows articles stating his full support. But then you think an improved economy and jobs are a bad idea. But since that allows other people to make money other than waldos parents to bankroll waldos environmental crusade that just wouldn't do now wouldn't it.
  11. Its been clarified that the feds can trump bc as to where the pipeline goes. Since SK and AB directly gain and ontario through its financial sector also benefits, the feds can press the pipeline through. However harper probably won't do that and can instead look to the territories to do that. No billions for bc. Jobs for nwt, and more money for the economy. As for quebec, their incompetant fools just made running a giant ass cable under the ocean economically feasible. Looks like they're milking a dry cow. I wonder how marois is going to explain to quebecers if they get independance why nfld just turned the lights out.
  12. And this is why we remand people like this so they show up for court to answer to their charges.
  13. I could care less if I know how to use ticky tack quotes and preview features. If that's your burn, bravo Not my problem the nwt premier has a good idea that means wealth creation and jobs. And with energy consumption growing at 2 percent per year, its a no brainer. But your one of those who already has theirs (or should I say parents have theirs) and states that others should have a less standard of living for your cause. Bravo!
  14. [/size] so... you reply without addressing the direct challenge to you concerning practicalities of an alternate NWT pipeline route to the Arctic Ocean - a NWT pipeline reference you keep bringing forward. Your childish, 'mom driving Futureshop', idiocy simply highlights your deflection and inability to address the challenge. in any case, I'd suggest the next time you decide to name drop, you spend a bit of time on understanding just who you presume to reference. If you're going to name drop Mark Jaccard, someone who's statements and positions are leveraged on many accounts, from opposing sides, you may want to preface your attempted leverage with the over-riding positions Jaccard holds on energy sustainability amidst a continued... and diminishing... reliance on fossil-fuels towards that sustainable future - a reliance and progressively diminished use that presumes on full deployment of carbon capture technologies... notwithstanding his emphasis on GHG emission reduction climate policies that include strong emissions pricing and regulations. Really, because from what I get out of it is that you still need fossil fuels and given that worldwide energy consumption is projected to rise by 2 percent per year. The nwt premier sees the opportunity to facilitate the need to supply that demand, why can't you. So what do you propose we do without killing our economy to supply an approximate 2 percent growth in energy demand per year? Or is it waldo's mom gets to drive waldo everywhere and buy waldo all the products that involve oil/byproducts he wants while people in china, india, and brazil go back to living like peasants so the environment is saved? Let's see how that goes over.
  15. I suggest you look at Jaccard's projection chart on worldwide future energy usage, its really quite simple; no oil, no western lifestyle. In other words instead of getting your mom to drive you to futureshop like normal, you'll have to walk to whatever else replaces it because no oil also means no futureshop.
  16. Well if those lefist provinces keep up their extortion scheme nwt and nova scotia are going to be winning that little war down the road. Stupid is as stupid does.
  17. Something tells me they have... http://www.google.com/gwt/x?hl=en&u=http://www.pardinilaw.com/publications/news.php%3Fnewsid%3D127%26p%3D3%26catid%3D6&client=ms-rim&q=rich+emigrating+from+venezuela&sa=X&ei=6zUrUJybKYeqywHGqIDYBQ&ved=0CC0QFjAG http://www.google.com/gwt/x?hl=en&u=http://www.economywatch.com/economy-business-and-finance-news/Oil-Rich-Polarizing-Venezuela-Emigration-Immigration-Puzzle.31-01.html&client=ms-rim&q=number+of+rich+people+who+emigrated+venezuela&sa=X&ei=CzsrUMObN4SZyQHs2IGwDA&ved=0CCgQFjAG (Apologies for not putting in link -- blackberries you get what you pay for...) They're still poor and are being outperformed by their nonpetrol neighbours Its not that I hate obama, the guy is trying and does care, he's just going about it the wrong way. And if you declare war on your business class, crap like this could happen.
  18. And where does the funding for all those bridges and roads come from? It comes from sucessful businesses and the people that work for them. Infrastructure isn't a necessity, but one heck of a facilitator. Unless you want a gong show like venezuela, it would behoove one to not put the screws to those who contribute to society. I don't expect you to understand...
  19. And chavez expropriating businesses at a whim and chasing the rich out of his country. How does a country that floats on oil have a hard time keeping the lights on.
  20. How about a 25 percent flat tax and a 5 percent consumption tax. No loopholes. The rich still pay more and everyone who uses services pays. Chickens done!
  21. Funny thing about sweden, they elected a centre right govt which has job creation as its priority, no stimulus spending and tax cuts. Now why would sweden be copying us? And they pay a lot less in SK and Alberta and they've put the canadian economy on their backs. They also pay high tax in venezuela and the rich can't leave fast enough
  22. When your x trillion dollars in debt, the writing is on the wall. The debts have to be paid or the bond vultures start circling or worse your money is worthless.
  23. The majority of the western world is broke because we're wanting things that we can't pay for. When debt is climbing faster than gdp, that's a big problem. Nobody is suggesting zero taxes. But the levels that some people suggest are absurd. 50 cents on the dollar and above? That's proposterous. Anything above 30 percent is punishment. If you were working for 50 cents on the dollar and there was a legal way to pay less wouldn't you take it?
  24. An idiot with a good looking resume is still an idiot.
  25. Its simple, "we're broke! We can't afford anything and its short term pain for long term gain." If you cook the golden goose, everyone gets burned. One only needs to look at venezuela to see how this experiment plays out. People are different some are more talented than others. Why punish those who freely use their talents to benefit others?
