  1. So western Canada isn't allowed to make more money than Ontario, nice real nice. Punishing those who succeed is brilliant economic policy <sarcasm>. Western Canada has every right to make the money it has earned. You saying you have the God given right to 80 cent gas is like me saying I have the God given right to a brand new Truck for 15,000. Why isn't there a National Manufacturing Policy where everyone in Canada gets Ontario made goods for less than market value? You sir are a hypocrite and a fool.
  2. Have you not read any of my posts regarding pot use? I made it quite clear what my views are on that. No I have never supported organized crime in this country. Nice try though.
  3. Shall we decriminlize everything else while we're at it. Maybe keeping some of the repeat offenders behind bars where they belong instead of out on the street might reduce these things. Organized crime exists no matter what, the coddle approach is an abysmal failure.
  4. That's a way to tank the TSX, nicely done!!! Dropping the price on our exports, nice economic policy. If that's not whoring yourself I don't know what is. Our manufacturing base is a relic and in need of an overhaul, which hopefully is happening now.
  5. .6 is still growth. I haven't seen any changes from very very slight growth, then at around 3.4 % at 2010. Where have they revised those numbers?
  6. The conference board and the Bank of Canada have a different outlook.
  7. Jesus Christ, Martin overtaxing us, raiding the EI, and sucking the provinces dry while posting a surplus isn't being a fiscal conservative, it's theft. Hell a high school student could do what Martin did as minister of finance. The bankers and the opposition were on the Liberals to do this. harper is not a company manager, he is a politician with elections to win. People out east and in the cities like gov't spending so people like me have to suck it up. By the way harper slashed the GST, corporate taxes, and income taxes. Hell he tried to cut spending and bloody Quebec went ape, there we are with the looney left and their double standards. Harper can't win.
  8. Harper is a politician not a CEO, he has to spend money to get votes. And most of Harper's spending was to the provinces to get them up and running more smoothly. Martin would have spent the money that should have been going to the provinces and would spend it on pet projects and tuck it away in a piggy bank and we would be overtaxed. That's not fiscal conservatism, that's theft. What would Paul Martin be if he got elected and kept his promises, not a fiscal conservative that's for sure. Gordon Campbell is taxing the bejesus out of BCers, they are paying more for things that they need. Unless they live in a log Cabin in the bush, they're getting hit with this tax and are not liking it. Gordon Campbell is not a fiscal conservative by bringing in an industry impeding carbon tax. Saying a carbon tax is good fiscal policy is ridiculous. The only reason a carbon tax has somewhat credibility is the alleged income tax cut that goes with it. It's been proven time and again on this forum that the carbon tax is poor policy and it was proven in the polls. Harper's doing an adequate job with his economic policy. The Bank of Canada and the Conference Board figure we are going to weather this storm just fine.
  9. you have a computer and are complaining about being poor, a person in darfur hardly has enough to eat let alone a change of clothes. You might not be rich, but you certainly are not poor compared to what's out there.
  10. Poor my ass, high tail it to Africa and visit Darfur then come and tell us how poor you are.
  11. except that canada is an export economy with our export markets getting richer and richer and are able to afford our goods in spite of a credit crunch. The Conference Board of Canada is now on board with the 2010 prediction. I'll take theirs and the Bank of Canada's word on that. As the world population grows and gets richer, the better off we are.
  12. the population of people is always growing. In ag terms, that is an indefinite market. As the countries of the world get richer and they still are, China's growth will still be around 9% instead of high 10's. In Canada's situation, even though there is global problems, there is still demand for our products, we will take a hit, but won't be sunk. People still need oil, food, and metals. As for oil running out, that will occur in about 80 years, which is more than enough time for our country and private sector to spend oil and other revenues on diversifying our economy and discovering new technologies. The petroleum industry didn't exist 150 years ago. The amount of revenue from taxes goes up because it's based on percentages, not fixed values. The higher the salaries of Canadians, the higher they pay (same percentage of income though). Same goes for GST, the more Canadians spend, the more the gov't collects in GST. The more oil gets pumped out of the ground, the more provincial gov'ts get. When the feds cut tax, they cut off some percentage points. When times are good this doesn't matter as the levels coming into the gov't stay somewhat the same or even increase in spite of tax cuts. It's simple algebra.
  13. In spite of a recession, there are still uses for what we export such as grain, oil, metals, etc.
  14. What's your definition of a fiscal conservative, someone who taxes the hell out of people and doesn't spend a dime? We've had that and people voted that out of office. Then there's the Liberal spending promises... Which begs the question, Should the Liberals be Liars for breaking election promises to run a fiscally sound economy or be financially incompetant keeping those promises? Platforms of this election stated the tories are planning on keeping spending down. Harper has increased spending, lowered taxes, paid off some debt, and still runs a surplus (albeit a very small one). That is financially competant to me, and as a taxpayer is far better than having that money sit in some slush fund doing nothing. It's not Harper has vast amount of city people and easterners who believe in high gov't spending, Harper has to win elections by attempting to cater to these people. Hell Paul Martin, the Liberals financial hero was prepared to spend a boatload of money to cater to these people as well. I have had more money in my pocket due to Conservative gov't policies. I like how the Liberals equate theft with fiscal conservatism.
  15. No, I think your biased towards centre right gov'ts. You slam the US gov't and the Canadian gov't when both our economies are going in opposite directions. Who is right then? As for harper spending, he bloody well has to because eastern canada and canadian cities are full of people who want government to spend spend spend. It's not my fault some people over there have a poor grasp of economics. Harper has to spend because he has elections to win. Paul Martin had a much bigger spending platform in 2005, so there isn't really much of a case you have there.
  16. It is still bloody growth, what do you want integers? This is good news in spite of other countries making a mess of things. The looney left strikes again!!! We can see the end which is really great, we will still have growth through the worst of it even better!
  17. According to the bank of Canada, growth is expected to be 3.4% in 2010, and no recession!!! ctv What would the looney left do if this is what ends up happening...
  18. It`s the republican`s money, they can spend it however they want. If they want to drop a 150K of donated money on Palin then have at it. If repubs are upset about campaign spending, then don`t donate and vote for the other ticket. This is a non issue.
  19. If the race gave 70 mill to the gov't, then that is a net savings of 50 mill on taxes. Sounds good to me. It's like Alberta oil, a little investment and no PST.
  20. I am a mandatory shareholder, they take my money by force. I can only hope they invest it somewhat wisely. If they don't, I can cast my vote for somebody else. The Alberta gov't and the feds have spent a substansial amount of money opening up Alberta to oil production, Albertans as a result don't have PST and no deficit/debt at the same time. If my money has to be taken from me in the form of taxes, my vote goes to who spends it on making me safer and boosting the economy which in the end reduces my tax burden in the long run. The thing is the gov't is taking that 100 dollars whether you want it to or not. If the F1 boosts the economy and generates lots of tax dollars, then have at it. If not then cut the strings.
  21. We pay taxes nonetheless. I would rather have my tax dollars go to something that boosts the economy rather than pissing around with alleged global warming that is a money drain. Or at least have our tax dollars go to the army/police force. I mean both of us would like to not pay taxes, but we pay them regardless. I like tax cuts when they come, but the crux of the matter is we pay taxes like it or not. If the F1 brings in money to our economy, it isn't that bad of an investment on the gov't side. I'd like to see the real numbers before making a choice. The feds have invested in Hibernia and in Alberta, is that a waste of tax dollars??? I see the government as more of a corporation and the citizens of Canada are it's shareholders, the corporation can do with it's money how it sees fit providing the shareholders agree. The rest of Canada subsidizes Quebec for lots of it's nonsense, the F1 from what some posters say doesn't appear to be nonsense and it appears to boost the economy. Albertans are subsidizing Quebec politicians (their salary) to pass legislation promoting racism and bigotry (Bill 101 and reasonable accomodation), you are in no position to be poo pooing an F1 race.
  22. The toaster is working overtime...
  23. Oh great another anti-farmer ivory tower urban elitist. If you hate rural Canadians so much stay out of the damn grocery store. Political parties that don't accept rural people and rural values will also never ever gain a majority government. Redneck Canadians are just as Canadian as everyone else. By the way my MP is no token colored person, he was the mayor of a small city before entering politics and has been relected since 97. He is an immigrant, but he earned his spot. Harper has made inroads in Vancouver and the GTA, montreal is next...
  24. I agree completely, that having been said, how in tarnation did you decipher that post?
  25. touche! ha ha ha ha. 5 bucks to anyone who can decipher that drivel that was the opening post.
