  1. When it started I wanted Cullen to come out on top but I see Mulcair as the best choice now. I still like Cullen however and I think he has a bright future. But I think Mulcair has the best hope of getting the center votes which in my opinion is the only way they'll form a government. I really don't see Nash's appeal other than her being one of the more left wing candidates. Although I honestly didn't see her performance as finance critic being great either. That's not to say she won't or can't win though. I've been following the race pretty closely but if it ends with Nash or Topp winning it'll feel like I sat through a 3 hour movie and the ending was terrible.
  2. I'm not convinced that it is time for drastic cuts yet. Convince me.
  3. ^I couldn't agree with this more.
  4. I'd like to see the same poll with people assuming Mulcair is the NDP leader.
  5. Explain the logic behind that statement.
  6. Duffus? Lol
  7. I think their thought process would be that they would delay the Iranian program so that they could buy more time and hopefully come up with a solution or a way to stop it. I see Israel as being more likely to take this route.
  8. Actually it was one of my friends (who isn't a liberal) who mentioned it to me. But yes I would think the Liberals would want him to run in their party. Who wouldn't want him in their party? I think you are jumping the gun with your assumptions about some journalist, socialists and the bandwagon. I thought your initial comment was based more on fact than just assuming he was a Conservative because he was with Goldman Sachs. I'll admit I made assumptions but yours are just as precarious.
  9. I heard his name thrown around as a potential future leader so I made the assumption. I would have to disagree with the assumption that just because he was with Goldman that he is too far right for the Liberals. He could be liberal on social issues and there are many fiscally conservative Liberals.
  10. I was going by what I was told. That Carney isn't a Liberal. I assumed the correction was to the right. I think I'm confusing....myself. lol
  11. He's apparently not running anymore. Cherry beat him in the nomination vote.
  12. Liberal was the last one I came up with. It was going to be Dryden but I was trying to pick people who didnt run before.
  13. How about this Conservative-Don Cherry Green Party-David Suzuki Liberal-Mark Carney NDP-Sam Roberts Yeah, I'm bored.
  14. I thought of that and went with the idea of it being the same candidates for MP as last time.
  15. Man, you watch debates from the 60s? That's so hardcore. I might (MIGHT) watch Kennedy v. Nixon but even that is a stretch.
  16. Simmer down young fella. Were we or were we not in a discussion/debate? I'm continuing that debate. Why so angry? If you are going to disagree with someone you shouldnt fly off the handle when someone disagrees back. It is called debate. Isn't that what we are all here for? If you can't engage in debate without jumping down someones throat and name calling I don't know why you are here. And you really need to stop making these jumps from you saying that a war will 'collapse the world economy' to saying that I don't think it will 'affect' it just because I asked you to explain yourself. Nowhere in these pages did I say the economy would not be affected.
  17. That doesn't answer the question. How about some specifics. Explain to me how the US debt affects its foreign policy. Give me some talk about interest rates, the Fed, monetary policy....something. Your answer to every question and counter argument is a variation of "I'm right because I think it will happen.'
  18. I think I said that I thought Cullen and Mulcair would team up. I'd like to see it happen. http://m.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/john-ibbitson/will-cullen-be-mulcairs-kingmaker-in-ndp-leadership-race/article2359917/?service=mobile
  19. This made my night. I lol'd for a good 20 seconds which was more time than I spent listening to said idiot.
  20. Not related to the GOP but since it happened on Super Tuesday...apparently Dennis Kucinich lost a primary battle tonight. From what I understand it was the result of redistricting. He's been around for a looong time and I think he was mayor of Cincinnati when he was like 30. He is also a strange little man.
  21. The WW3 comment to more directed to the thread in general not to you. I agree we don't know what will happen I just felt the thread was going from one worst case assumption to another to another and so forth. I'd also like to point out that I'm against any strike. I think the consequences of even a so-called limited strike could be far worse than Iran having the ability to make a bomb. Although I'm of the mindset that they act rationally in their foreign policy and their rhetoric is just to shore up their domestic support and anti-western/Israeli support in the region.
  22. Romney still didn't have the showing he needed to shut his critics up and provide a KO to Santorum. I'm content with that.
  23. So the US can't afford war but Central and South American countries can? You mean the almighty strong anti-US economies like Venezuela? Bolivia? Ecuador? This just tells me how distorted your view of the world is.
  24. Ummmm I dont think I said that a war wouldnt be terrible for the US and the world economy but I'm not really sure what you are disagreeing about with my Us/Pak aid comment. You don't agree that they would pull the aid? MILITARY aid to an apparent enemy in a war? And while I'm on the subject you do admit the war would be terrible for the world economy but you see dozens and dozens of countries lining up with Iran against the US even though they would know full well that their economies and the world's would be severely damaged? So are you saying these countries would throw their national interest out the window to side with Iran against the world's stronger military? People have been saying for years that Pak will ditch the US. Let me ask you this. Pak allows the US to launch drone and CIA raids onto it's territory. Does this sound like a country that would toss the US partnership out the window? Yes they have a strained relationship but you are making a big jump from that to all out war. Pakistan can't even fend of the Pak Taliban without US support. They would be overun in Islamabad if the US stopped providing assistance. So again, would the Pakistanis throw out their own survival as a regime to side with Iran (SHIA Iran I might add)? Oh well. I see how Brazils turning away boats is the same thing as fighting a war against the US.
