  1. I don't doubt that for a minute. I personally don't spend time thinking about it though. And I didn't care for Ignatieff but it had nothing to do with all of his time abroad.
  2. It was just a joke anyway. I don't think we let her. The party members vote her in. I don't really see it being much of a problem. As far as I know she has lived here for a long time and has dual citizenship. It isn't like she is a foreign puppet or something.
  3. Oh, OK. Canada is doing well now but it wasn't always and it won't always be like that. And I didn't say things aren't good here. But you are oversimplifying to an incredible degree. That doesn't necessarily mean that it was easy to get it to that point or to keep it there.
  4. Dont these two statement contradict each other?
  5. Nonsensical statement award.
  6. Is this an actual fact? You cant be referring to the last election because a Green Party member was elected.
  7. Are you attracted to other leaders?
  8. There are so many surprises this year-the Sens, Jets, Panthers, the Blues turning it around with Hitchcock. For opposite reasons the Lightening, Kings, Sabres and the Caps as mentioned. I can't say I saw Montreal doing so badly either. The same can be said for the Philly's goaltending. Correct me if I am wrong but don't the Oil need some blueliners and a goalie? Khabibulin is getting up there. Im not saying they dont have some great talent up front and some time to get all the pieces in place but you just need to look at Toronto to see what some iffy D and goaltending can do to a decent team.
  9. They don't have to make it up on the fly but they should be able to answer a specific policy question. This is especially true with party leaders and even more important when they are the only MP from their party.
  10. If it is proven that the Conservatives were actually up to these dirty tricks it will not surprise me if some-and maybe even most-MPs knew nothing about them. They could just be honestly ignorant of what their staff are doing. Their staff could have kept them out of the loop to protect them or because the staff thought that the MP might shoot down the suggestion to use said tricks.
  11. Napolean-like? Really? How is he pulling the wool over African American's eyes? And I'm pretty sure white people don't vote for him just because he is black. At least not most of them.
  12. I'm not sure how this plays out in history but I would assume that regardless of his age a PM who had a majority would not enjoy being in opposition again and therefore would retire after losing power. Personally I think Harper sticks around until he loses power. Anything can happen between now and the next election but I think the other parties have their work cut out for them. Even beating him down to a minority might be difficult barring an economic downturn or a major scandal (still waiting to see how this potential election fraud plays out). Can anyone point to an example where a PM with a majority stuck around to be in opposition?
  13. That's exactly what Dion was doing when he was Liberal 'leader' and they asked him about the carbon tax. He would just tell people to go to the website and punch in the numbers. His staff must have been pulling their hair out.
  14. Other than knowing that Elizabeth May is obnoxious I can't say I know a lot about the Green party. I would like to get to know their policies a bit more so I'm starting this thread. Maybe people can jump in and say what they like about the Greens and what they don't like.
  15. It wouldn't surprise me if an investigation/inquiry shows at least 2 or maybe 3 parties tried to supress opposition voters.
  16. It is just a feeling I have from watching the debates. They seem friendlier than the others. And I'm adding in my thoughts on them being center types. Just a guess really. And if you think Topp and Nash are radicals you haven't met a REAL radical leftist.
  17. The PM isn't going to throw away one of his most experience MPs. He too pragmatic for that. Also, I would bet my life Baird is in favor of gay marriage. I just have a....feeling...yeah...
  18. He's not going to throw a high profile cabinet member under the bus publicly.
  19. I rarely hear someone complain that Harper is too lenient. And by rarely I mean never. This times a million. Harper has sidelined him pretty well IMO.
  20. He's pretty conservative on foreign policy too. I would argue Harper likes him so much because of his work in the last election and not necessarily because their views line up.
  21. Jason Kenney would be at the top if my list. I can't see any path for Peter MacKay or Stockwell Day. I think our finance minster calls it quits when Harper does. That's just a gut feeling though.
  22. Lol @ whatever.
