I'd argue that the Liberal and Conservatives are close to the centre of the political spectrum. The Conservatives usually seek middle of the road policies on gay marriage [civil unions], financial spending, and on Justice the Conservative's want to make sure that the scumbags stay in jail. The Conservatives also want the senate to be democratically elected, this idea has been supported by some premiers, the Conservatives also want to give parliment more power than the Supreme Court Justices. For example, if the Supreme Court were to make a decision that would legalize some child pornography the Liberals, and NDP would allow it, because 9 unelected appointed judges are always right, were as the conservatives believe that the MP's in parliment should make decisions on issues such as that. The NDP and Liberals also support giving Carla Homolka, Paul Bernardo, and Clifford Olsen the right to vote, were as the conservatives don't believe murderers should be given that right. Yeah, and I hope the Micheal Ferrier votes for the "real thing" too, because of how similar NDP and Liberal policies are to each other. MS more people were willing to support the CCF/NDP when Tommy Douglas was running it, because he was a leader people could respect. He was socially conservative, yet compassionate towards people. Were as the new leaders are completely the opposite, that is the reason why Saskatchewan voted out every single New Democrat in the province. Because Jack Layton was going on a campaign about how evil social conservatives were, when the reality is most people in Saskatchewan are social conservative, yet compassionate.

Bill Cosby has recently caused a stir because of some of the comments that he has made. http://www.theamericancause.org/patbillcosby.htm How do you feel about those comment. I feel that Bill Cosby is 100% correct, in his TV show he depicted an African American family, were the family was put first and foremost before everything else. I'm glad that somebodies finally speaking up about the real problems in the black community rather than blaming "whitey" for all of their problems.

This country I believe was better run before 1969. We had a stronger military, a stronger economy, nearly debt free, lower taxes, and government did'nt spend money on bullshit programs like they do now. I mean we had a great military too, and we had a hell of a lot more respect from the international community due to peacekeeping, and Canada's involvement in the Korean war against the communists. Not to mention that Canada had a low divorce rate, and alot more couples were having children, which means that families were under less stress.

You know how I see it, each person is an individual, no matter what their skin color, sex, or ethnic background. When I apply to a government job I would like to be hired because I'm the best for the job, not because the government needs to fill a minority qouta. Sure the left wingers can whine and complain about racism, but they are the ones that are the real racists for insisting that minorities need to get an easier in for jobs because minorities are stupid. Everybody is equal, and everybody will be judged on the content of their character not on the color of their skin. The left wing version, Everybody is equal, but some are more equal than others.

Well in the last ten years, the Canadian Alliance/Reform party has'nt supported policies that would make abortion illegal. Hey remember world war 2, it was none of our business when Jew's were getting sent to concentration camps either. So Maplesyrup if you were having a child with your girlfirend, and you can't wait for this baby to be born, you would have no problem if your girlfriend decided to TERMINATE your child. I doubt it, so yeah abortion does affect men too. Most studies have shown that after a woman has an abortion they have psychological effects afterwards.

The Police Chief of Peel Regional should stay. He has been a great police chief for that area, and the police service. Maplesyrup, Blackdog, what is it with you people always trying to destroy a good police officer's reputation, god I'm getting sick of people pointing out the stupidest things. I think that if you caught a child murderer you would'nt have the greatest thing's to say about him don't you think, he is a scumbag, he is the worst possible type of human scum. Police Constables are trained to capture the bad guy's, and make their case against them so that they will be sent to jail. I doubt that the child murderer will get that much hard time, maybe five years in maximum, and then a few more years in a minimum security prison facility. Remember Carla Homolka, she was put in a minimum security prison for killing two young girls, and she had a goddamn Birthday party. Maybe instead of trying to get a police chief fired, you left wingers should instead try to bring back the death penalty and give hard time to these scumbags.

Actually I think that you should remember that most people do not want to be victimized. If a Christian were to be attacked on the street by a homosexual, than it would ne considered an assualt, if a christian were to attack a homosexual than it is a hate crime, and deserves a tougher sentence. Does'nt really seem right does it. More people have a problem with some gay rights groups advocating for a lower age of consent to 14, and even to 12 which many find disturbing. I don't believe that pro-gay books should be allowed in schools, as the bible and other religous texts have been banned.

If their was proportional representation that more people would be willing to vote for the Christian Heritage Party. But even here in Alberta they would never garner much support, while Albertan's are traditionalists who prefer a non interventionist role for the government on the economy they would'nt elect a CHP MP. I believe that in Saskatchewan they would garner a little bit of support, especially since that place is really socially conservative, which is part of the reason the NDP lost all of their MP's their in the last election. MS I believe that takeanumber said that anybody opposed to gay marriage is a facist. I think that Jack Layton should step down, he did not deliver on election day. Layton also alienated many of the social conservatives in his party, which is why he lost all of their Saskatchewan MP's. While people in Saskatchewan support social programs, they are traditionalists. It's fairly hard to get the support of hard working farmers and blue collar workers when your screaming that anybody against gay marriage and abortion is a facist.

If they want to make a counter to it, go ahead. It's because they know that their version of compassion is'nt really compassionate, it has more to do with giving people those things that are damaging to them emotionally, but that pleasure them in the present.

I agree that Alberta should not consider seperation but the Alberta Agenda. Right now I think that many people think that my views are extreme even though I support Civil Union's, and am more akin to Howard Dean. Surprise, Surprise. You would prefer a dictatorship were the people are oppressed and freedom of religion is oppressed. I believe that Castro had persecuted christian's right, its okay for Castro to torture christians, but at the same time its alot better than the US trying to jail terrorists, and torturing them to get info about any future terrorist attacks. I am in favor of harmonizing customs and immigration with the United States. That is a great idea. Then a Canadian could get a job in the United States as lets say a police officer, and an American can get a job in Canada without the immigration BS. I've talked to alot of American's, and many, if not all, are friendly people. I hate seeing people like Ceaser, and Black Dog spew their hatred towards them. It seems like its a sport to them to hate anybody south of the border.

Some school's force christian students to read materials talking about the beauty of the gay lifestyle, so shut it about freedom. Albertan's don't hate American's unlike you Ceaser. We have alot of respect for those who died in 9/11, and the soldiers fighting in Iraq. I think that Alberta should cut off all of the money we send to Ottawa. Alberta should become more independant of Canada, the fact is if you asked your average Albertan is they considered themselves more Canadian or Albertan, Albertan would always win. If their is no dissent of any moral, social, or economic matters Canada would be better off a dictatorship. I think that the left of centre would be perfectly fine with a dictator making sure that Canada remains a nation on the left.

Maplesyrup you think its a great country, you probably think Cuba is a great country. This country was alot better in the 1950's when we actually had a strong military, a strong family foundation, a strong economy, and a strong democracy. Actually can any of you name a single nation with COMPLETELY free health care. Last time I remember most were starting to experiment with user fees, and different methods of improving health care. Do all of you lefties believe that throwing money at health care will solve all of the problems in the world. It's like throwing money at a druggie hoping that his problem will go away.

Do you mean like Oregon style health care or what. Not every state has the same health care system. Their government actually allows freedom for their states to experiment with different systems of health care to see which one is better than that states. Most American's also say no matter what don't do healthcare like Canada.
