  2. Everyone I know in the O&G sector is looking forward to being able to skid the bottom 20% of their workforce. I'm not referring to workers from any particular province, just the younger ones that have never actually had to look for a job. Wake up at 10:30am. Smoke a joint. Shower (sometimes). Get buddy to drive you around Nisku and fill out five applications. Home by 1:30pm. Play XBOX until it's time to go to the bar. Accept whichever voicemail offers you the most money (as long as you don't have to work evenings or weekends). Take your days off and another week besides just for the hell of it. When your boss gives you that "what the hell..." look, return it with a stunned look and say "what? I don't see the problem." Repeat as necessary. As for the Alberta PC's (aka - the Federal-Provincial Liberal NDP Coalition of Alberta), they are a disgrace. Especially under Eddie the NDP'er. I think we may actually see a resurgence of the Wildrose party next election now that the Alberta Liberals have chosen the left-wing D. Swann. Eddie's an idiot farmer (as opposed to the farmers I know personally who are actually pretty decent guys) and is scared of his own shadow.
  3. Nah, I never flunked. Now Dr., remove tongue from cheek... Apparently, teachers are quite the little hot button for a few of you. If you want to investigate the big, bad Alberta conservative and why he doesn't like teachers, go here http://www.mapleleafweb.com/forums//index....mp;#entry193425 That thread has little or no association to this one, but I'd be happy to continue the conversation over there if you wish.
  4. A monumental waste of money on...well...a monumental waste of money. Question for all the bleeding heart liberals and dippers.........are you okay with a $22 million annual budget for this crap when children, immigrants and liberal arts majors are starving in the streets? (you know, the streets with all the soldiers in them?) I'll support the museum if Canada agrees to disband and forget the Human Rights Circus...I mean Commission.
  5. If you have the balls.... Upgraded my phone to the firmware v08.32 from 3.6(the rogers version). This will only work with Nokia 5310 XM BLUE Rogers. I do not know about others though. Phone spec: Nokia 5310 Express Music v8.32 23-07-08 © Nokia Variant:00.00 Language V 08.32 V 08.32 23 - 07 -08 Rm-303 © Nokia N First you have to download http://europe.nokia.com/A4579163 from the Nokia website. Second you will have to download http://www.b-phreaks.co.uk/index.php?main_page=page_2 After you download both, go into the Nemesis Service Suite and connect your phone. On the right corner there is a magnify glasses. CLick on that and it will check your spec. Then go to PHONE INFO> in the right hand side. you will see "Product Code" In the bottom you will see the option "Read" Click on read first and then check off "ENABLE" beside the Product Code. Erase the product code that you have right now and put in "0558988" in the product code box and then click Write. In the bottem you will see (...... Done) Close the Nemesis Service Suite and then open the Nokia Software updater Again you must connect the phone to the USB. Then follow the instruction and you will see the 8.32 firmware ready to update! SO you click update or what ever it is and then wait for a few minutes to update. THEN YOU ARE DONE> ENJOY THE EXTREME LOUD SPEAKERS AND THE NEW FIRMWARE DESIGN! It works. Trust me (I want to be a politician). It's the only way.
  6. cyber, That model of Nokia utilizes a microSD slot. While Rogers can restrict the ringers you download, you can always backdoor this by downloading (or transferring) any ringtone (or mp3) you want to a mSD card and then moving and assigning the file as a ringtone. One of my kid's mp3 players was "iTunes restricted" as was my wife's LG Chocolate phone (Telus download store). Two minutes later, they both had all the tunes they wanted from one of my computers. Don't let Rogers snow you on that one. As for bittorrent clients, there are ways to open and restrict your port forwarding settings. Shaw throttles my downloads ("Blocked"), but I still pull 660Mbps over a standard connection. What they don't know won't hurt me.
  7. First of all Michael, read the damn post. I said "And since they are qualified to collect, make the damn sum of money substantially higher to give them a fighting chance." For those that don't qualify, screw them. As for your statement about welfare being cheaper than a revolution...nice red herring. Bullets are substantially more cost-efficient than police or welfare. There would be no revolution (at least not for long). edit:sp
  8. Is welfare (you know...taxpayers) paying for your internet and computer equipment?
  9. Uhmm...who cares? Why should all of Canada pay (forever) for a bunch of auto workers from Ontario? Where the hell was the concern in the 80's for Albertan oil workers????? Oh, that's right...there wasn't any. If there are 400,000 people in Ontario that will be out of work, best call Kwebek and ask for help. $150,000 a year to install Screw #112-756 in Dash Panel #443-34. Wow, do I ever feel sorry for those guys! Must be terrible to only have a few hundred thousand in the bank and investments and have your job threatened. (After all, aren't all auto workers rich? Isn't that what was said about Alberta oil workers?) Let them starve.
  10. Wrong. Many people are complete write-offs. Drug addicts, child molesters, convicted violent offenders, repeat criminal offenders (too stupid to learn from the first time), hard core socialists, people who think they have a "right" to my money, etc. Why society would spare a single cent on these useless wastes of skin is beyond reasoning. Those are some of the write-offs. The list of those who contribute nothing is substantially longer. Teachers, for example. Welfare should be strictly for those who cannot provide for themselves (and not by choice). Mentally handicapped people without other means of support, a parent who suddenly finds him or herself widowed with several small children. Uhmm...I'm sure there must be more but they haven't popped into my mind yet. And since they are qualified to collect, make the damn sum of money substantially higher to give them a fighting chance. People without mental or physical impairment? As long as there is not a single job advertised that they haven't applied for (and I don't care if it's for $1.50 per hour - we pay the balance) they should be able to collect. Fail to have PROOF that they applied and were not offered the job, and instantaneously cut-off without warning. Convicted of a violent offence (or repeat offenders) should not be eligible any longer. Perior. Lazy should not pay (outside of the Canadian Senate of course). Stupid should not pay. I should not pay.
  11. Oleg, I'd like to challenge your statement. Not ALL seperatists are as you describe. There are those of us who wouldn't wait for "Mom and Dad's cab fare" considering we're the ones who earn the cash. Now, Kwebek seperatists are an entirely different breed. They wouldn't survive the first quarter on their own. Alberta is a different story altogether.
  12. The UofA in Edmonton elected an NDP'er not unlike the other "centers of learning" across the country. It has nothing to do with education, it has to do with money and success. The people around Old Strath (UofA) are a huge pocket of university students that have never had to pay taxes other than maybe on the waitressing job they have outside of school. The more people earn, the more they vote conservative so they can keep their money. It's not that education=NDP.
  13. But I thought the Liberals, NDP, Greens and BQ were screaming that "the environment" was the end all-be all of the last election????? When did the economy trump the Dion environmental policy? Sit, Kyoto. Good dog.
  14. Well, that's one (and I'll have to research it for validity). Want to answer the rest now?
  15. Where to begin.... Of course the HRC would take your case (if you actually had one). That's what the HRC does....take cases without any shred of merit. It's what they think their job is. Class action lawsuit? Really. So you're going to have the Supreme Court give you and ...who else?... permission to proceed with a class action against who exactly? So, contractors are offering you "tens of thousands" to be quiet, eh? I admit that I'd be willing to throw $10 or $20 in myself to get you to just admit you're full of shit, but it's likely not going to happen. Care to name even ONE contractor? I doubt it. These forums are always getting bullshit artists of one type or another, and they usually either change their tune or go away. What? Still don't want to comment on the whole DOT thing? Did all those scary facts get in the way of your perfectly good argument? See, I don't have a problem with you per se. But imagine if you will, telling a management accountant that he doesn't know how to add numbers. In the exact same way, you're telling me that I don't know anything about A&D policy and testing procedure and it's legal ramifications. You're quite a ways off base there, believe me.
  16. My god are you grasping. The Department of Transportation (federal) ONLY dictates under NSC (National Safety Code) that federally regulated carriers SHOULD drug test prior to entering the US via land. They DO NOT have a testing standard that is enforced. P.s. - Go back and read where the testing done at NON-DOT locations (everything except federal cross-border transport) is NON-DOT standard. There isn't a worksite ANYWHERE in Alberta that uses the DOT 5-panel test. It's all NON-DOT. Pull your head out of your ass long enough to read. Craiger, you haven't got a simple clue as to what you are talking about. Give up and go home. You're beat. Bad. The Department of Transportation did NOT draft an A&D policy that was ADOPTED in Canada. First of all, CANADA doesn't HAVE an A&D policy. Man, do you ever need to go and roll another one.
  17. Angus, that is exactly what I was trying to get at with craiger...I want him to post links (or even just one) to HIS "facts". The ACSA (COAA) policies are the standardized, canned versions that cannot necessarily be used out of the box, but they are a good start for companies that don't have the expertise that craiger brings to the table. Read back through the thread and find the post where he claims that HIS test will find use of oxycodone (oxycontin) and percocet (morphine). ALL testing does that already. I usually don't take someone on over inconsequential posting, but when they outright lie and mislead members of this board, then I'm going to speak up. Too bad for him that he picked the wrong subject to bullshit about.
  18. Where do you get these mystery "facts" from? I am in the health and safety field (and have been for many years), and am also an A&D administration contact for a very large firm. Most of what you say sounds remarkably like a high school rumor mill. Please provide a link to ANY of the "facts" that you have stated regarding drug testing and blood test sampling procedures Bet ya can't, and you'll just post back some suitably "witty" retort without answers.
  19. You're very odd. Do you actually read what you write? "Bigot"? Do we need to get the big dic'shon'airy out? Some of the more intelligent members of this board know that I am definitely not a union supporter of any type. And I didn't kill any "china men". As for you....you're simply someone who likes to blame everyone else for your problems. "I'm yours?" Sorry. I don't swing that way. Quit smoking dope and get a life. Edit to add: Doctor's don't draw blood for any type of testing. Lab techs or nurses do that in all situations. As for "online" testing....do you, like, piss on your keyboard or how does that work?
  20. You didn't fool the test...you used a "Whizinator". The urine you supplied was real and because it was held against your body it was warm. A normal collection tech would have noticed that it didn't fall in the normal temperature range, and most can spot use of one of these kid's toys. Good luck with the career loser.
  21. Ya, you'll see it again in the next election. The Liberals just cannot understand that ORDINARY people don't believe in what the Natural Governing Party believes in. Too bad. They might have had a chance if their leader had been able to speak one of Canada's official languages and able to explain his ideals for Canada.
  22. Not a chance of a resignation. Too bad. If he did, he would probably be better remembered instead of fallling into the Pit of Campbell.
  23. TCCK, Back off. I'M the resident Alberta separatist here. You're right though, the west (read: Alberta) does bellieve that the only way to get noticed for financing the country is to pull a Kwebek and threaten separation. Works for them...should work for us. Gimme the transfer money. Gimme, gimme, gimme!!!
  24. Man, are you full of shit. The "Urinalysis" you are talking about is a simple POCT drug screen (Pre-Access testing). Good luck "cheating" it. At last count, those simple "cup-o-noodles" were testing for the five major groups (non-DOT 5-Panel) and 35 masking agents. Any variance in temperature or suspected adulterants, and...BAM...you fail. By the way, it's not Dynacare anymore. Hasn't been for quite a while. Doesn't matter anyway...Dyna was only one of the lab companies that are used (see: Drivercheck, ECS, DrugTech, etc). The "government" isn't making you take the test, the site owner is (where do you get this crap?). The "government" has no leverage to force any employer in the province to test (only federally-regulated institutions can be forced). In fact, the "government" is typically the one (through the Human Rights Commission) that puts pressure on employers NOT to test. Ten bucks says you were refused entry based on a failed Pre-Access at either Suncor Firebag, CNRL or Albian Sands. Don't want to test? Go work somewhere else. The Temporary Foriegn Worker (TFW) programs are controlled to a standard. TFW's have their own version of an Ombudsman in this province. There are no "Gulags" in Ft. Mac. They're camps, plain and simple. As for the A&D policies in place, they are written to the COAA standard. (Which means, by the way, that they already TEST for Oxy and Perc). The reason why so many guys are getting away with doing dope on those sites is that once they're granted access on a clean screen (one per year minimum), they are only tested for Reasonable Cause or Post Incident. A Pre-Access test is known as a Stupidity Test (you knew you were going to have to test when you applied for the site). The ones that don't pass are labeled CFS (Can't Fix Stupid) and blacklisted. Go ahead and try to sue the "30 unions" involved. Most of the sites up there are under CLAC, and they all signed on to the program through their CBA (quite legally). What information/names are you hoping will come to light in court? It's all a matter of (union) record. There are no layoffs in MacMurray. I currently have around 3500 workers up there, and we need another 2500-3000 over the next 24 months just to meet contracts. Nobody's chasing anyone out (unless they're CFS). Grow up and quit smoking dope.
  25. Exactly correct. It wouldn't matter if you called the Liberals the "Giving Away Free Money Party", they would simply be known as the "old Liberal party". Alberta will be PC (unfortunately!) until it's people take their heads out of their asses and decide to finally endorse a right-wing party. Ed "the liberal/NPD'er" Stelmach is a massive disgrace to this province and should be booted out on his ear. " The Liberals in AB need, first, a chaismatic leader. They have had a series of blandoids and duds." No, first they would need a platform that doesn't consist of "we're not them".
