So our troops are teaching and supporting Iraqi troops? Why are they wearing Kurdish flags on their uniforms? http://www.aljazeera.com/indepth/features/2016/05/canadian-troops-iraq-wearing-kurdish-flag-160505171906785.html The Kurds are in a war with Turkey. Who the hell are we helping there and why? When did we start wearing the flags of other countries? Why are we still in this deadly civil war?

Israel has decided that there will be two sets of laws for the country; One set for Israel proper and the illegal settlements and another for Palestinian areas: http://www.aljazeera.com/news/2016/05/critics-slam-israeli-proposal-dual-legal-system-160506113800584.html Shows you just how serious Bibi is about any chance for peace in the area. This rogue nation continues on its path of squeezing the Palestinian off their land - like a cancer that spreads in the Middle East. Time to start to acknowledge Israeli war crimes and and put a stop to this cancer.

America under President Trump
Big Guy replied to betsy's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
They all mean well. -
I fully agree. But I do have a background in municipal disaster preparation. I suggest that the mere fact of the results indicates that the preparations were inadequate. May I assume that since everything possible was done properly that we can anticipate a repeat of this tragedy?

America under President Trump
Big Guy replied to betsy's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
He can "unexecutive" any executive orders that Obama made. He can immediately reverse the following: http://www.govtslaves.info/comprehensive-list-of-executive-orders-under-obama/ -
Thank you for your expert evaluation. Shit happens. That is why we have contingency plans which kick in accordingly and depending on the escalation of a problem. You appear to "have a clue" so where were the contingency plans? This fire started on Sunday. Where was the help from other provinces? Perhaps you could share your clue with me? I can understand that other small fires are currently burning all over Canada but how many were in possible danger of wiping out a Canadian town of 80,000 people? You think maybe they would have the priority? I do.

Is Artificial Intelligence a threat to the human race?
Big Guy replied to Argus's topic in Health, Science and Technology
I understand that it has been discovered that one of the registered members of this group of participants on this site is actually an artificial intelligence computer being tested for development. I have been ordered to NOT reveal which avatar it is using so I will leave it to others to identify the impostor. -
I have made many mistakes in my life in believing something to be true that later proved to not be. My point is there is still time between now and July 21. Strange things happen in politics. About 5% of the population of the USA has mental problems. That translates into about 15 million Americans. It is estimated that there are about 400 million guns in the USA. There is a petition that guns be allowed into the convention. That may change things. If after this convention Donald is declared the Republican candidate then I will admit that I was mistaken. Any time you take a stand on the results of a competition there is the possibility that you will be wrong.

Every province with trees has special forest fire fighting units. There is also an inter provincial coordinating organization whose role is to organize additional people and supplies where an emergency exists. Where were the units from BC, Saskatchewan, Manitoba an even Ontario? If you feel that nobody screwed up in this case then you accept the fact that what happened was inevitable. I do not.

You were rude and I answered in kind. I do think that there is a directly proportional relationship between intelligence and the time it takes completing a task where intelligence is a component. "Brag" is your interpretation and based on your attitude. I assume that those creating this form, and then setting up the formulas for statistical analysis, take into account folks with your attitude. I also believe that it is statistically probable that those folks who refuse to fill out the form (because of the taxing length of time to complete) will spend as much or more time criticizing the form. I cannot give you the exact statistics because of the number of people who refused to fill out my questionnaire.

Canadians FEAR Trump...Big Time
Big Guy replied to bush_cheney2004's topic in Canada / United States Relations
The rest of the world is worried about Trump. His unpredictability is a major factor. -
That is correct. He is not the nominee yet.

As the rest of the world is focused on Iraq and Syria, Israel has taken the opportunity to take target practice in Gaza: http://www.aljazeera.com/news/2016/05/israelis-military-carries-air-strikes-gaza-160505080724719.html If you want to be in a position to shoot fish in a barrel, you have to create the conditions: The Gaza barrel is now containing the Palestinian fish who the Israeli's can use for target practice at will. Shame on Israel. Shame on Canada for being associated with this rogue nation guilty of war crimes!

I believe that running for VP along with a President Trump will not be a career booster for any politician.

which women should be on Canada's paper notes?
Big Guy replied to Topaz's topic in Business and Economy
Many organizations have been "burned" when they honor some live person and later that persons behavior changes or they do something that makes them unworthy of the honor - but it is too late - the honor has been published. Also In this case (Dead for over 25 years) allows for time for some secret transgression to have been aired before the person is honored. -
America under President Trump
Big Guy replied to betsy's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I think someone has already anticipated a Trump presidency and what would happen: https://assets.documentcloud.org/documents/2797782/Ideas-Trump-front-page.pdf -
And I suppose that you have a greater insight which you choose not to share here? Or have you found yourself on the wrong side of a issue and chose to dismiss opposing views?

I have just watched a documentary about charges of sexual assault against members of the Duke University lacrosse team that took place 10 years ago. This was a case of "she said", he said and he said and he said and the state decided that the "she said" should take preference: Fantastic Lies It is tragic in what happens when people get outraged before the truth comes out. I had forgotten about the incident and really had not known how it ended. This video shows what happened from an objective perspective. If you have an hour and a half, you may find this enlightening.

No. I would expect that any large habitat which is located in an area with trees, would have a plan which would prevent that habitat from having to be evacuated because of a forest fire. I understand that these forest fires occur quite frequently, have been breaking out since Confederation, and are not generally considered to be "natural disasters". Your question is silly and unbecoming someone entrusted to supervise silly comments. I would expect that Alberta and Mcmurray have a plan of how to deal with forest fires when things are very dry and the weather is very hot. I assume that trees drying out and weather being very hot is not an unexpected phenomenon. Alberta has just declared a provincial emergency - I assume to get access to federal funds. As to my interest, I live in Ontario. I assume that most of those homes and properties were insured. The insurance companies will pay off. No insurance company is going to go broke but the rest of the customers will pay off the cost through increased premiums.

I was doing some searching trying to find out how golf is going to be treated in the coming Olympis Summer Games: http://www.igfgolf.org/olympic-games/qualification-system/ Olympic Qualifications - The IOC has restricted the IGF to an Olympic field of 60 players for each of the men’s and women’s competition. The IGF will utilise the official world golf rankings to create the Olympic golf rankings as a method of determining eligibility. The top-15 world-ranked players will be eligible for the Olympics, with a limit of four players from a given country. Beyond the top-15, players will be eligible based on the world rankings, with a maximum of two eligible players from each country that does not already have two or more players among the top-15. Qualification will be based on world ranking as of 11 July 2016, with a total of 60 players qualifying in each of the men's and women's events. The top 15 players of each gender will qualify, with a limit of four golfers per country that can qualify this way. The remaining spots will go the highest-ranked players from countries that do not already have two golfers qualified. The IGF has guaranteed that at least one golfer from the host nation and each geographical region (Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania) will qualify. The IGF posts weekly lists of qualifiers based on current rankings for men and women. A proposal was made to have a 72-hole individual stroke play tournament with the official rules of golf. In the event of a tie for any of the first three positions, a three-hole playoff will determine the medal winners. Under these conditions, who will represent Canada and what are our chances at a medal?

If you consider a forest fire, one of hundreds that we handle every year, as a "natural disaster" then you may have a point.

This is a real change. In the past, when anyone had the potential to become the President of the USA, there was speculation on who would be given the honor of being chosen as VP. It appears in this case that the question is who is prepared to sacrifice their political career and accept a Trump VP job.

This topic should really go to the Federal Politics Section. There have been no casualties at this point and the immediate effort is to save lives. Mcmurray is now empty except for firefighters. I do not think it is too early to look for answers. About 90,000 Canadians have had to be evacuated because of a forest fire. Not an alien invasion, not a tornado, not a sudden fire hurricane. It is a forest fire. Canada is a country of trees - lots of trees. There are trees in every province. It is hot, very hot. I cannot accept the excuse that this was an unforeseen tragedy. We are not a third world nation where there is no coordination between parts of government where confusion can take place when something unexpected happens. Somebody screwed up here. I think it is time to start to point fingers and certainly come up with a plan where this cannot happen again.
