And what do you think Dalton Mc.Guinty and the Liberals have been doing to segregate immigrants? Mc.Guinty SUPPORTS SEGRAGATION! http://www.canadafreepress.com/2007/weinreb091107.htm

He did not identify that way. What he said was: "You could say (because I will) the Terry Fox Run is a part of Canadian Culture." That is Canadian culture is NOT money culture. BTW- If you want to get technical about other types of cultures, the culture of charity would be more appropriate in this case.

Canada ripped for opposing UN declaration
Leafless replied to jennie's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The only reason the declaration will most likely pass is because of oppressed African countries who last year actually opposed the declaration due to harmful self-determination issues could lead to rebellions, but has been ironed out with additional wording in the declaration that self determination should not mean a right to create a separate country. Canada is worried the declaration could lead to the reopening of already settled land claims. Let's face it. This declaration is not meant for Canada's Aboriginal but directed to the truly oppressed people of third world countries who have very few rights period relating to recognizing land and other rights of these truly deprived indigenous people. http://www.canada.com/ottawacitizen/news/s...0aab0e5&p=1 -
You are totally wrong and as usual no cite. No it is not part of Canadian culture. It is part of a charitable CASH drive for 'walking for cancer research. http://www.terryfoxrun.org/english/nationa...default.asp?s=1

Is there not a direct relationship between terrorist killer morons and Allah? -
Ethnic Canadians are a minority in Canada and cannot be considered part of the majority culture, if they wish to deviate culturally, from the culture of the majority. It is the 'Charter' that betrayed and is destroying the majority culture and is allowing direct cultural opposition from minorities including Quebec, who feel they do not have to integrate and do have the legal right to betray the majority culture, IOW, take away the majority's country and form their own. How many Canada's are we going to have in Canada. A Pandora's Box is in the making.

Canada ripped for opposing UN declaration
Leafless replied to jennie's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
In 1763 the Royal Proclamation did exactly that. It was created to integrate New France into the British Empire in North American. It created the Province of Québec along a fairly narrow stretch of land located along the shores of the St. Lawrence River. Part of the proclamation, however, expressively dealt with Aboriginal issues. The British, who now controlled Québec, wanted settlement to take place within the colony, but also wanted to ensure Aboriginals had their own land for reserve settlements. Can you cite these ratified and agreed treaties? -

Who is they? The 3% or so of the entire Canadian population, who were never able to defend their lands. -
What you had was a friendly dinner party consisting of younger people and fails to represent real life biases relating to the many problems associated with different religions, cultures and lifestyle. BTW-Racism is a product of incompatible races and believes, culture, religion and lifestyles.

Mixed Member Proportional representation
Leafless replied to Denny's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
I don't really know how this can be a subject for debate when Dalton Mc.Guinty and his provincial Liberals are making sure this will never happen. They are requiring that any proposed change get the support of 60% of the voters as well as more than 50% support in at least 60% of all provincial ridings. -
"Harper rips Elections Canada over veil ruling"
Leafless replied to betsy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
That is a good point having everyone be in an identifiable state anywhere in society. I mean just think of the crimes that can be committed while under the wraps of a burka, everything from shoplifting to murder, including men disguised in a burka pulling off these potential crimes. -
Canada is a Constitutional Monarchy which is a system of government responsible for our Parliamentary Democracy with the elective body being the House of commons. This gives the PM unlimited powers especially with MP's who vote party line. The GG in Canada is really only a figurehead, like the Queen. What you are saying is next to impossible to achieve, as Canada cannot simply demand the monarchy to follow the example of a single country within the commonwealth like Canada. Canada has primary obligations to the monarchy but does not "waste huge sums of money". Canada only pays for official visits or trips to Canada by members of the Royal Family. BTW- Canada is represented overseas by the monarchy at special ceremonial events involving Canada.
-
The British monarchy is only a symbolic figurehead in Canada and Royal Assent to bills that have already been passed by an elected majority are rubber stamped by our governor general which is only a ceremonial event. The Royal Family in Canada are traditional figureheads from a time when Canada was a British colony and NOTHING more. Canadians have nothing to do directly with the Royal Family as we are not British citizens. So Melaine, the only option you now have left is (your preference) to ditch the monarchy which will never or most likely never become a reality because of the power of a king associated with the position of a Canadian PM which obviously they don't want to lose.

Looks like political correctness does not fly in Quebec relating to veil covered faces. So why are other provinces in Canada sitting on their hands on this one? Maybe we should all wear mask, when we go to vote or better still all the time. http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/stor...hub=CTVNewsAt11

No kidding. You just finished stating Canada has nothing to do with British rule, so why are you so adamant with the business of another nation that has (politically) nothing to do with Canada? Again what do you care as Canadians are not British citizens and the only reason the Fed's retain the monarchy is for the absolute power to rule like a king. You have it backwards, Britain politically doesn't give a damn about Canada and you have nothing to do with Britain's political system or Royal Family. Talk about being stuffed!

Post #9 will clearly verify I was offering support relating to the popularity of the Queen Mother and further offering the same support relating to the popularity of the monarchy and Queen Elizabeth, in which I said, "Queen Elizabeth ll is her successor and this current queen enjoys support from around the world." To avoid confusion I should have said, to-day, Queen Elizabeth ll is just as successful as the Queen Mother in retaining world wide support for the monarchy. IMO the Royal Family is separate from church and state as the Queen simply follows the advice of her British ministers, "Thus, on all matters of State concerning the United Kingdom, the monarch is advised solely by British ministers" and "According to convention her powers are exercised upon the advice of her prime minister." So basically what you don't like is the way the traditional pecking order is formed relating to 'who gets what' in the Royal Family. I fail to see how this aspect of the Royal Family interferes with the operation of government. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_monarchy

Canada ripped for opposing UN declaration
Leafless replied to jennie's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The Conservatives have said what their opposition is to the proposed declaration: BTW- The declaration would have NO EFFECT on Canada since it is non-binding. -
Queen Elizabeth ll is her successor and this current queen enjoys support from around the world. http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/europe/04/21...sary/index.html If you don't know why the Fed's are hanging on to the monarchy with Canada being both a constitutional monarchy and parliamentary democracy, then you are politically ignorant. I would reluctantly like to see Canada a republic also, but obviously not for the same reason as you.

Your immaturity is astounding. That kind of logic can apply all across society including relating to many Canadians who are called Canadian but really despise the word, but nevertheless are all labelled Canadians whether we like it or not. Face it, the country is majority Christian. Quebecers up until the late 50's were fully controlled by the Catholic church, a fate decided by themselves but with dire consequences. God in the preamble of our 'Charter' is the successor from a longer version from our 1960 'Bill of Rights' and reads: "The Parliament of Canada, affirming that the Canadian Nation is founded upon principles that acknowledge the supremacy of God, the dignity and worth of the human person and the position of the family in a society of free men and free institutions; Affirming also that men and institutions remain free only when freedom is founded upon respect for moral and spiritual values and the rule of law; And being desirous of enshrining these principles and the human rights and fundamental freedoms derived from them, in a Bill of Rights which shall reflect the respect of Parliament for its constitutional authority and which shall ensure the protection of these rights and freedoms in Canada." But back to the 'Charter' it should be noted the Conservatives and religious groups wanted 'God' acknowledged in the 'Charter': "There were, however, various religious and Conservative criticisms of the Charter during its drafting, with fears that denominational schools and Canada's abortion law were threatened. At this time as well, religious groups in Canada such as 100 Huntley Street and the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada were growing and wanted God acknowledged in the Constitution. So again again it is obvious what 'God' we are talking about and it is the 'Christian God'. Make no mistake our country has Christian roots, right from the start. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Preamble_to_t...ts_and_Freedoms -

I agree and this surely is the fault of immigration officials who allow unqualified immigrants into this country. Of course the answer to this is to only allow immigrants from democracies similar to Canada with the the same values and educational standards as Canada.
