Alberta: Francophone scores key win in court
Leafless replied to Leafless's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
So designating a provinces majority language as an 'official language' allows a province to ignore a Canadian citizens certain constitutional rights such as the case in Quebec. Then all majority English speaking provinces should wake up to this fact and save their taxpayers a bundle. Discrimination pays off and earns respect, don't you think, guyser? -
Nothing justifies a cowardly terrorist attack, nothing. For instance, why wouldn't he not want to be president of a country he could believe, to be manipulated to the desires and ideologies of countries America currently is enemies with. One does not have to love America to run for president, but could be completely opposite, namely loving other countries.

Tories tally $3B in funding on cross-country tour
Leafless replied to Leafless's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
One can not really blame Mr. Harper trying to capitalize on a Liberal success story (vote buying) especially in Quebec. Only trouble is Mr. Harper is a Westerner and is not a Quebecer. Waste of time and waste of tax payers money. Could be and probably is. -
Alberta: Francophone scores key win in court
Leafless replied to Leafless's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Alberta, unlike Quebec has no provincial language law or act designating the English language has the official language of the province of Alberta. Alberta currently recognizes the federal governments two official languages English and French. I believe it is only the RCMP that are legally required to speak both English and French in Quebec. Most tickets though is something else and it appears your only recourse in Quebec is to have your ticket translated into English. But this takes time unless you intend to fight the ticket which could be an additional source of time and trouble. http://www.quebecticket.com/non-coupable/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legal_dispute...language_policy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitution_Act,_1867 -
Devout Muslim Woman Denied French Citizenship
Leafless replied to August1991's topic in Religion & Politics
It could be viewed by some or many that a radical Muslim equates to being uncivilized. Regardless, it appears France has outlived its tolerance with problematic Muslims and Islam. I think a country reserves the right to protect its citizens against groups that have proven to be harmful. -
I agree with you. But you mean you actually found someone that hired you in the private sector? Generally speaking no employer will touch you with a ten foot pole once they find out your previous employer was the federal government. That is why most public servants are 'lifers' and stay within the ranks of the federal public service.

http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,2...100-663,00.html I thought the cartoon was funny. Maybe the democrats should have foreseen possible consequences of nominating someone with a past like Obama with a wife who has expressed anti-White sentiments in her thesis. "My experiences at Princeton have made me far more aware of my 'blackness' than ever before," the future Mrs. Obama wrote in her thesis introduction. "I have found that at Princeton, no matter how liberal and open-minded some of my white professors and classmates try to be toward me, I sometimes feel like a visitor on campus; as if I really don't belong. Regardless of the circumstances under which I interact with whites at Princeton, it often seems as if, to them, I will always be black first and a student second." http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0208/8642.html

Edmonton Police Private After Hours Club
Leafless replied to August1991's topic in Local Politics in Canada
Ha- ha-ha-ha. The title of that CBC article should be renamed to 'Cops gone bad'. -
http://www.canada.com/ottawacitizen/news/s...0858000&p=1 I assumed Mr. Harpers leadership was all that is needed to win the hearts of all Canadians to vote Conservative. Why waste tax payers money on pork barrelling and especially dedicating the lions share to thankless Quebec. Does Mr. Harper actually think he will gain headway into Quebec and increase party fortunes, while transforming Quebec into just another docile Canadian province? Think again Mr. Harper because you are going to fail. Stop playing dysfunctional politics and give Canadians by way of referendum the choice, to decide, on whether or not to retain Quebec in confederation.

Russell by-law spat sparks bilingual study
Leafless replied to Leafless's topic in Local Politics in Canada
It is clear you do not understand the scope of the problem that exist especially in Eastern Canada as the French currently have not yet gained that kind linguistic foothold in your neck of the woods. Employment is the name of the game. The minority French want English employment under the guise of bilingualism, but at the same time keep Quebec unilingual French along with their employment, proffessional services and even suppliers of food, various types of equipment, contractor supplies etc. The French have created an artificial requirement for bilingualism in provinces like majority English speaking Ontario, 4% French, that have no provincial specific language policy. How dare federal and provincial or municipal governments encourage and allow this type of French linguistic manovre and at the same time destroy employment opportunities for the English speaking majority residents of Ontario. The French have partially succeeded in slowly forcing the French language outside of the province of Quebec including the federal government itself that harbours an official bilingual policy. Of course federal and municipal or provincial promoting of bilingualism is racially discriminatory as 'freedom of expression' is a guaranteed Charter right, but is totally ignored by corrupt politicians. French is NOT being freely propagated. In Ottawa, Ontario a bilingual policy was implemented by mere city councillors rather than by the residents of Ottawa themselves in a province that IS NOT officially bilingual. Even in the province of officially bilingual New Brunswick there are MORE problems with French immersion: http://www.canada.com/ottawacitizen/news/s...7e-88153e966f65 You better pull up your socks if you want to ensure that English speaking job, you probably have, remains English speaking. -
Canada does not guarantee good jobs that provide a meaningful existence for all of its citizens. So why should those who have not been lucky enough, for one reason or another to gain substantial employment and forced to go on welfare be further humiliated? Welfare recipients are not the primary cause of high taxes. Greed and mismanagement is the reason. I posted this elsewhere but let us not humiliate ourselves further as we have already by ignoring basic freedoms. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/feb/2...sia.humanrights

http://www.reuters.com/article/latestCrisis/idUSN12381560 Looks like Obama is beginning to show his true socialist stripes. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/feb/2...sia.humanrights Freedom of expression curtailed. This sounds vaguely familiar. Anyway, we all know who is a major ally of Iran. Mc.Cain is right and Obama is wrong.

Quebec group requests French citizenship
Leafless replied to Leafless's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Before 1947 all Canadians were British subjects. To-day we are all Canadians. This should make you very happy to be a Canadian. -
Quebec group requests French citizenship
Leafless replied to Leafless's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Quebecois are behind her hoping for a domino effect: Denouncing the White, English speaking culture of the Anglosphere is the last thing I would ever do. Founding cultures of what? Quebec was not a founding member of the Canadian confederation. Canada was CREATED by confederation out of the old province of Canada. -
Does Canada really want Canadians to have families?
Leafless replied to Leafless's topic in Political Philosophy
Unfortunately this is true. But on the semi bright side we have the feds, the federal public service and our natural resources. Now all we need are more hot shot imperialist. -

Yes, I know. Millions of immigrants love Canada. They think it is heaven, compared to their previous state of existence. -
I did say the U.K. is not independent. And we already know it is in a personal union with 15 other countries What I said was: The U.K. technically is in a personal union not only with 15 other countries but with itself as it cannot do what it wishes since itself is a creation of four separate entities, each with powers if their own. BTW- provide a link that proves the U.K. has a single written constitution. I know that isn't what you said and don't come back with the Magna Carta, Bill of Rights etc. because this is not a single written constitution. It has no single written constitution.

They developed the tools to accomplish this great feat. The monarch serves as head of state of 15 other Commonwealth countries. This puts the U.K. in a personal union with those other states. It is a country with no single constitution. This puts the U.K. in a awkward position even though is sovereign island country. I would say it is tied down by its own apron strings and is not an independent country as it is a part of four constituent countries.
