  1. And how do you propose the Israelis deal with attacks from palestinian lands? Remove the palestinians leave and have to come back in a few years? It seems that it is a reoccurring theme that Palestinians and arabs in general do something and then complain about the consequences. IF you launch attacks from a piece of land you lose said piece of land for the duration of the conflict. You don't want to lose your land? Don't launch attacks from there.
  2. Life sentence means life without parole... Now if you are willing to argue that 100% of life sentences handed out in Canada result in life in prison without ever being release I would like to see that. You are making an argument when you know nothing about the subject, and now instead of admitting that you were spewing bullshit you try and recover.
  3. Robert Clifford Smith. I don't know, some criminals go to prison and come out with university degrees, so I don't know what hell hole he was in. Its really nice idea to rehabilitate criminals, but what does that mean? Give them an education? Teach them a second Language? Give them all sorts of therapy? And if they reoffend what happens? Do we give them more of the same? If you make a conscience decision to endanger other people's lives you have to live with the consequences. Its easy to say we will rehabilitate criminals, and there is a time and a place for that, but at some point after the first 60 convictions I would think he lost the right to freedom, or should have at any rate.
  4. If the Palestinians keep using the land to attack Israel, Israel is well within their right to occupy that land to protect itself. And the Grand Mufti was brought up in every thread bud started yet never answered or directly addressed by anyone.
  5. You send in settlers to make sure they don't come back once you leave and set up shop once again.
  6. his views are pretty clear. the arabs are victims, without question and without causing their own hardships. Each side is to blame, what he fails to mention is that the ME is cyclic, you launch a suicide attack on me, I launch a conventional attack to remove you as a threat, you take that attack as justification and launch rocket attacks and further suicide attacks, where I launch further military action to get you out of range of my civilian population. When one side is determined to destroy the other, and is using the refugee problem that they themselves caused as an excuse it seems to me that they are not all that innocent. I believe that Israel has the right to exist and jews have the right to live, until such a time as the Arabs decide to recognize that fact, Israel is more then justified in using force as a means of protecting themselves. Hamas launches rocket attacks against Israel and when IDF comes knocking they cry abuse.
  7. At some point rehabilitation looses out. How much time has this guy spent in jail I would assume quite some time, and he still was not rehabilitated. At some point it stops being about changing or fixing the person and it becomes a means of prevention.
  8. One that comes to mind is China, with them the US Navy will quickly destroy their Chinese counterpart, and the Airforce and Naval air arm might have a hard time but will eventually prevail, the main reason china can stand up to the Us in a Conventional War is the simple quantity. It applies to other countries with substantial populations as well. The motive is irrelevant, if they had provided basic services and prevented the looting while keeping the army intact for the most part kept 400,000 armed men from the streets. The main help that the US gave to the insurgents was disbanding the military, as now you had hundreds of thousands of unemployed armed and trained soldiers who had to feed their families one way or another. I would disagree, there was a cooling down period when the US was seen as a liberator but all the mistakes added up and eventually the insurgency picked up strength. I'm not talking about dictatorships, I am talking about actions. I can tell you everywhere the US screwed up over the last 10 years, mainly because I have access to more complete information then the people who were making the decisions at the time. The US wanted to move in remove Saddam and leave a stable nation behind, whatever their motives were, that was the goal as it would have done no good for Iraq to collapse.
  9. Because when he comes in to the argument and presents an extreme one sided argument, it lines up everyone to take another extreme. -------------------------------------------- 1948 War of Independence 1956 Sinai War 1967 Six Day War 1973 Yom Kippur War ------------------------------------------- More then 140 suicide attacks between 1989 and 2009 and 70 since the year 2000 not counting the attempts that Israeli forces prevented. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/1197051.stm -------------------------------------------- http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/1654510.stm -------------------------------------------- source: http://www.science.co.il/arab-israeli-conflict.asp#Refugees http://www.palestinefacts.org/pf_independence_refugees_arabs_what.php
  10. In a conventional war, there are some that still will cause problem for the US. The whole thing is that if the US and their allies had moved in with the proper number of troops they could have stopped or prevented the looting and destruction, and provided the basic services almost immediately after end of hostilities between the Iraqi army and the US. The US suffered because their top leadership wanted a war on the cheap, if the military advice had been heard and followed then the outcome might be different. Better planning for the post invasion occupation might have been better. Thats the thing though, everyone has an opinion and everyone voices those opinions but its 20/20 vision because now we know they were wrong. We can blame the British and the French for not stoping world war 2 in 1936, but we have had over 70 years to study the subject and know the importance of the event while at the time they didn't have a clear picture even though there were people on both sides of the argument.
  11. If you are willing to deploy troops it should be an all or nothing deal, you cannot say that because you don't support foreign intervention we need a super majority while I don't support helping natural disaster but I need to STFU. You think one is important and the other isn't, I have a different opinion then you thus if we need a super majority for deploying troops on peacekeeping/peacemaking/peace-enforcing or war we should have the same requirements when sending troops to assist in disaster.
  12. So to you, strengthening the justice system also includes fixing the social class system? Someone steals my POS car it has an effect on me, at the same time someone steals a car worth 100k, it has an effect on its owner, yet both if properly insured will be covered. A crime is a crime regardless of the class of the victim, you steal a car wether it costs 1k or 100k it is still is just a car ignoring any sentimental attachments the outcome of the crime is not life or death and both crimes should be taken seriously. As for lawyers? I don't know what we could do about that. I work all my life, and have savings of 500,000 dollars, and if you one way or another steal my savings you should be punished, but here is where we need somewhat of a double standard. If you steal my 500k that ruins my life as its my life savings and I have worked for decades to put that away and suddenly my retirement standard of living drops dramatically, while If you steal 500k from Bill Gates it would be theft, but its not life altering. We need to punish the crime, and the impact it has on its victims. If you steal a car and smash in to my car causing me serious injury the law should take that in to account, as well the impact of the injuries should be accounted. If I was paralyzed my career prospects suddenly disappear and thus I have a limited earning potential for the rest of my life, my standard of living drops and it affects me and my family for the rest of my life, while you smash in to me, break some bones that will be healed within 6 months the overall impact on my life would be lesser.
  13. Over the last few weeks, all the bud has posted was how the big bad jews are abusing the little innocent arabs. Thats not how it is, its not 90/10 division of blame, and it seems to me that all those anti Israeli garbage he posts ignored the fact that there are guilty arabs, that many of them strictly believe in the destruction of Israel. Honestly, his biased one sided accusation and his refusal to see the Arabs and Palestinians as responsible as well puts me in the corner exactly opposite to him, he is anti-Semitic, there is no doubt about it, if he was balanced in any way, shape or form we would be able to see that from his "arguments". He posts random videos of the big bad Israelis abusing the little innocent arabs but does not post the story behind. Side A does something to instigate the Israelis, surprise surprise no one is videotaping that portion and once the Israelis come knocking on your door the video is running... This guy is racist beyond measure, arguing with him forces people to take the opposite extreme position, if he could open his eyes and mind he would see that it is not oh so exclusively Israel's fault. And you say he is not racist? He goes in to any thread and tries to direct the conversation in to how bad Israel is, wether it is related or not. You just can't go to a forum, outright attack one particular group of people who are in no way wholly responsible for the events in the ME, present them as the bad guy and ignore everything that the other side has done. He still ignores anyone bringing up Haj Mohammed Effendi Amin el-Husseini and his position on carrying out similar actions to the Holocaust.
  14. If you steal my POS car, it still does not does not have a life altering long term effect, while stealing your life savings along with hundreds of other people has a definite life altering aspect to it and should be punished accordingly.
  15. And you were wrong, so now you are stomping your little feet and throwing a little tantrum... good job.
