The Federal Republic of Canada

So you want Canada to change because of your inferiority complex? It is completely irrelevant where she lives, as she is the Queen of Canada nowhere does it say that she has to live IN Canada. -

Do you work hard at it, or does being a joke come naturally to you? -

The US is Canada's largest trading partner, and our partner in continental defence, I'm sorry but we do need to "harmonize" in order to help each other. -

Queen OF Canada not Canadian Queen. Slight but important difference. -

We have an identity and a history, we can and should let some influence from immigrations but we cannot turn our back on our heritage as a nation ignore the shared history that we have. If we start switching our identity every generation because of immigration, soon enough French might be relegated to a non-official language when a minority overtakes French speaking Canadians. Please do explain this We have the GG, then the provinces have the LG's, we remove the Monarchy, we have to amend the constitution and what happens then when the provinces don't agree? What happens when Quebec does not sign because they want more power in the new constitution, or when maritime provinces don't sign because they don't want to give up the monarchy or use the change in the constitution to get something out of the federal government? Its not as easy as having a vote and then switching, the repercussions in many of our institutions will be tremendous. There is our law system that has traditions that are tied to the British, then there are the RCMP and the Military both organizations heavily influenced by British customs and traditions and customs. Then there are dozens and dozens of other organizations that are one way or another tied to Monarchy and will be thrown into chaos trying to reinvent themselves for no other reason then our desire to change our head of state. I don't know about you, but I am proud of calling myself a Canadian, and I don't see how changing head of state will change anything significant. Neither does your inferiority complex. -

Immigrants should adapt to the country, not the other way around. What is your reasoning to remove the Monarchy? Aside from: Tell me how would adding another layer of government improve my daily life? If we created a position for a president, what would change? Another election every four years? A figurehead with no historical significance to Canada? Honestly, as they say, If it aint broke, don't fix it. -

What would be the point of a change like this? We will be turning out backs on common heritage that we share with Britain. Changing from a Constitutional Monarchy to anything else does not save us money in the long run, and does not make us anymore independent then we already are. Adding a president or another layer above the PM might just add another election to spend money on. We should respect our history and the positive things that Britain has given us as a nation, as well as the great things that Canada has done as part of the British Empire. -
So wait, we cannot compare ourselves with Greece? You mean the Greeks magically went from financially sound to where they are right now? There are 3 kinds of people and this applies to countries as well... First, those who learn from the mistakes of others, second are those who learn from their own mistakes, and third are those who never learn. If we ignore what is happening in Greece we can end up like them, they ignored their own finances and hid from their issues for years and look where it led them. We can look at Greece as a case study and learn from their mistakes in order to avoid those mistakes, or we can look at the more successful nations while ignoring what is happening in Greece, Portugal, Ireland and potentially a number of larger European Economies and keep on telling ourselves how well we are doing until we hit a similar brick wall to Greece. I prefer to use Greece as an example, study them and avoid the actions that brought them to the place they are today rather then ignore them and have to face the same or similar problem in 5,10 or 20 years.

At least I can think... -
So you agree that the conservatives are handling the situation very well.

Cooperative mode? You mean like bursting in to schools and scaring students who don't agree with you? Or the smoke bombs to force "cooperation" from the rest of Quebec's society. What about the Molotov cocktails that they tried to force on the police? Sure sound like cooperative mode... I don't know about you but to me when I hear cooperative mode what springs to mind is not forcing other people to do anything.

The Quebec Premier and Montreal mayor asked for assistance and the federal government assisted. Just like the Quebec government asked the Federal government for soldiers to assist in the Oka Crisis. Sorry for the wikipedia but Im in school and have limited time. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/October_Crisis

This is an interesting read about the Quebec debt. And it could speak not just for Quebec but Canada in general. http://www.montrealgazette.com/opinion/Henry+Aubin+Strikers+should+fear+provincial+debt/6255769/story.html

Yes it is, its simple enough for a women to go and get an abortion, and no getting a condom is simpler but thats the point. I know women who have had multiple abortions because their boyfriends don't like using a condom. Its irresponsible and stupid women who expose themselves to this repeatedly, you don't think there are those who seem to think these people exist but trust me they do, and they are not ashamed to explain why they have had 2,3 or 4 abortions.
-
What does that have to do with the war MEasures act? I don't think the Army was responsible for that.
-
Man you are influential.
-
I think I have the right as does every other taxpayer. There are plenty of people waiting for legitimate operations and they have to wait long due to budget issues but then we spend money on morons who cannot use and form other form of birth control.Maybe if they had any sort of intelligence they would not be in the same position over and over and over again. If you want an abortion, then pay for it out of your own pocket, you are telling me that I have no say what comes out of their body but they have the right to repeatedly hit up the Tax payers for a free abortion?
-
The first time. Its ok to say I screwed up, I'm pregnant and I cannot afford or do not want the baby, but then they do it again, and again, and again and you guessed it once again. At some point someone has to step in and inform them that its cheaper and easier to put on a condom, use birth control pills or any other means.
-
You mean anyone other then you? When terrorists try to force their will on the elected government, that government has the option duty to defend the people. Seeing as in the subsequent referendums the No side won out I would have to say a good chunk of Quebecers agreed with the government and intelligent English speaking Canadians agreed with the government...
-
So you think its ok to have abortions instead of using a condom and/or birth control pills.
-
To me it is. I support abortion in cases where the pregnancy is the result of rape or when the pregnancy is going to put the women in unnecessary risk, but I oppose abortion for people who are too stupid to use a condom or other means of birth control. To me an abortion has to have a legitimate reason behind it, instead of some 19 or 20 year old idiot girl who gets regular abortions because she is too stupid to use other means of birth control.

Ok, so I might sound a little crazy or paranoid but it might not be just him, there might be someone or a group of people behind him with the intention to make a point to the government and then remove him from the picture. -
I have one question and its a standalone question. What is the opinion about people who are too stupid to exercise any other birth control and have multiple abortions? I understand that the position of many people is that you cannot be forced to deliver the baby but what happens when someone has 2,3,4 or more abortions?
-
I could't care less... I'm just glad you had nothing better to add to the argument then a ton of quotes in which btw he spelled the name right so I don't see your point. Besides, just because Jack Layton died does not mean people have to like him, respect him or agree with the reasoning behind him getting a state funeral.
