Well in that case, anyone and everyone who is responsible...

How do you feel about profanity?

Good lucy with that, so your kids will be serving food for my kids... I have seen some people who cannot do some basic math or lack even the basic of linguistic skills, skills of a 5 year old child. You don't have a degree from any university institution, because I can guarantee you unless you bought your degree online you would know that English and math are not only important but down right a necessity in everyday life. You are close-minded sheltered child who has no math or English skills and your future has the phrase "would you like fries with that" written all over. -

That would make them bad teacher now won't it? I don't know what third world "university" you went to, but if my kid is "taught" by some joker who can't spell and doesn't find spelling important then Ill have words with the principle and I am certain most people feel the same way. Schools are meant to provide a well rounded education, remove teaching English from the curriculum and whats next? Math? Sciences? History? Geography? a few years down the road we will have illiterate kids who cannot do basic math, find Canada on the map, and do not know the most basic historical facts of the country they were born in. If you become a teacher god help us all, and if by some miracle you become a teacher and are hired, I think you could singlehandedly be responsible for making a generation of idiots. -

I graduated from High school several years ago, I have gone to both college and university, I don't know what third world institution you have attended but spelling is important especially if you would like to be a teacher. I hope to god that there is no institution stupid enough to hire a teacher who cannot spell... let alone a one like you. -
You help the kids, you help the flies... same price twice the positive feeling.

A government organization might entail military intervention in order to secure the government workers

I would hope so, I also hope that he/they rot in jail for this negligence.

Practice teaching? Does that involve a mirror or something? And umm yes spelling does matter, that is if you want to get a respectable job. when feeling out your resume don't use proper spelling and just watch the offer NOT come in. -

What does public education have to do with anything? You are not a teacher, and likely will never be a teacher at least not for long, once you are introduced to the real world you will rethink your whole life. -
We don't do what? Take in everyone and anyone? Because if thats your argument I would beg to differ, I know of a number of "refugees" who come from stable countries and found being a refugee the easier way to come to Canada.
-
They can grow up once the bluff of separation from Canada is called. Once they see that TROC don't care wether they stay or not they will rethink their position. What the government needs to do is remove all those special rights that Quebec get that other provinces don't get, let them threaten separation and when TROC shows them the door, I highly doubt they will think twice about leaving Canada and will likely start playing nice with the rest of us.

And what will you do when "there" parents are doing something harmful to "mother earth"? What exactly is your definition of a global citizen? And how do you and who are you to determine what is for "the good of all mankind"? -
The question is simple, you think about the children who are not at fault, I think about their parents who will come to Canada and drain the resources of the welfare system and those innocent children who will continue to drain the system. And I believe that bush_cheney2004 was referring to the mission to Somalia in the early 90's hence the "been there done that"
-
It is an either/or scenario, you want to take people from their country in the hoped that 10,20 or 50 years down the line they will go back and help rebuild their homeland. How is that working for the Somali teens going back to Somalia and joining militias? What about Sudanese children? Who will help them? We need to make our Refugee system available only for those clearly in need of asylum as opposed to taking anyone and everyone. Help them help themselves as opposed to bringing some of them here to stay on welfare and still be crying "Will somebody poles think of the children"... We don't have the resources to bring all the children in need to Canada.
-
Who says we don't have sympathy for children?
-
Have they proven willing to play with TROC? From where I am standing you give them a piece of the cake and they turn around and demand the whole thing. I think the only way Quebec would truly become part of Canada would be if they started up with the sovereignty song and dance again and TROC shows them the door, then mot Quebecers would think twice as to wether they want independence or not.

The TRUTH or the "truth"? -
The most permanent thing is a temporary solution. We need one body to pool our resources in so that all those little programs that in many cases overlap and waste resources are reorganized in a better and more productive fashion. We need some way where an emergency happens within 2h we have people on the ground planning the response and a list of available resources being made available to the field commander which would include all provincial and municipal assets as well as any available military assets. We need efficiency as opposed to like you said creating a temporary solution that continually wastes money even after it is supposed to end.
-
In all fairness do you think that the refugees we get from Somalia are the needy once? Just like those Tamils a couple of years ago were most likely not the neediest of them all. Honestly is the solution to take people out of Somalia rather then help them build a stable country of their own? We can't bring all Somalians here but we sure can send some Canadians there to help them which in my mind is the better choice.
-
I'm curious what your solution is?

Here is the thing though, how many people would have cared about a funding cut to the 5 HUSAR teams? The point at which people start noticing and complaining is when something like this happens then people ask where is the Elite SAR team we had?
-
Im kind of hoping that the government and the PM sees the light on this one, as it seems stupid cutting the budget when it is clear that there are significant shortcomings.
-
You just made my day...
-
Is the HUSAR funding from the province and and all municipal governments in the province investing in to the team or is it just the province and the municipality where the team is stationed investing?
-
Just because the military offered help does not mean that they could be of much help in this situation. The military engineers could be well equipped for a different type of emergency and would just end up sitting on the sidelines waiting for HUSAR to clear the area. We should look at each failure and try to fix them, for example, maybe we should create a larger degree of separation between the HUSAR Teams and politics, meaning that once they are on the ground they have the final say and their pick at all available municipal and provincial resources at their disposal. Lets say something like this mall collapse happens, HUSAR is called in and at the same time all emergency departments are put on notice that they are in effect subordinate to the HUSAR team and they should assist them in any way shape or form and at the same time leave the politicians on the sidelines. Once the initial emergency is declared then the HUSAR Commander on the ground is in charge, not the local mayor nor the local MP or MPP, not a minister of the Premier, the final authority rests with the Commander on the scene to request equipment and resources as he sees fit. This way the people who know what to do are free do act in the best interest of the mission while the politicians get the reward of a job well done with out the chance to screw it up.
