  1. Sure he could step down, doesn't mean he will step down. He could a lot of things does not mean he will do so...
  2. I am not saying that China is worried about economic reprisals, I am saying that China does not care what some petty little dictator wants and will not risk the financial loss they will sustain by having a war so close to home. They tolerate NK because they don't want to share a border with SK and a potentially substantial number of US forces. Because NK attacking SK or US forces in the area would be of no gain to China because at the end of the day the US and SK will roll over NK and end up on the Chinese border, they can invade NK and keep them as a puppet if war breaks out but ultimately China will lose much more than it could possibly gain from this situation and my hope is that they pull on the leash soon so that it doesn't come to a war. I am not underestimating anything, you seem to think that China will let this get out of hand but the reality is few nations want a neighbour to exchange punches with the US especially an aspiring superpower. They will look at the cost of a war so close to home, the cost of potentially having a really pissed off SK on their border with a large American presence on the ground, air and sea in the area and the direct and indirect economic damage that they will sustain because of any conflict between NK and SK/US, then they will look at what they gain and if they determine that they will lose more than they gain from the interaction they will rein in NK. A war in Korea will be bad news for everyone involved SK could lose potentially millions of people and will end up inheriting millions of impoverished NK citizens which would destroy the rest of their economy that the Artillery did not already destroy. NK will lose the war because as much as they talk up their abilities they are an impoverished nation with a mix of equipment from the time period of 1953-1990 which means that in all cases they will be outclassed by anyone and everyone involved regardless of their size. The US will probably lose a bunch of Servicemen and end up having to pick up the tab for the war and reconstruction or at least parts of it and China will end up with a pissed of unified Korea or whats left of Korea, a large US presence on their border as well as any economic damage they suffer as a fallout from a war. I hope to god that the leadership of NK do not believe their own propaganda because if they do we might end up finding out just how bad this could get.
  3. It gets me censorship? You did not call me out, you threw BS propaganda trying to twist history and ignore the parts you don't like to fit your agenda and now you are throwing a tantrum and reporting me... go ahead thats what I get for trying to educate someone who throws a tantrum every time their bs is disproved... you can report me 100 times and it will not make you right in this situation... or anywhere else for that matter...
  4. NK is not acting on behalf of China because it is not in China's best interest to have such a disaster waiting to happen so close to their own borders... this is not aimed at Japan but is aimed at the US because they are on of the players backing the sanctions which are now hurting the elite's and not just the common people... NK is the biggest threat to SK and that is exclusively because of Artillery...
  5. Or it could be because of British and French Imperialism and the need to maintain trade relations with China since the late 19th century...you know a war or two were fought against China by the western powers... so the US was there because of Chinese trade in the 19th century and the need to keep certain ports open to western traders, the US was occupying Japan in 1950 in part because of World War 2 but in a big part also because it was their strategy in the far east during the cold war... I realize you have cornered yourself and are trying to find a shred of legitimacy to your position but over the last 20 or so years after the fall of the USSR NK has been involved in numerous unproved attacks against the south which had nothing to do with Japan you can make the case it is all about Japan and I can if I wanted to prove that it is all because of the Roman Empire, or the Greeks, or the Persian Empire... Also if we are going to go back in history to back up your bs might as well point out that the US was in the region because of Spain see Spanish American War...
  6. Are you trying the same trick as the Syria thread? Doesn't work too well don't you think?
  7. And NK Needed Soviet support to invade the south which means that they didn't do this all by their lonely self but had a Superpower in their corner. Until the UN came in to make things a little even the North with Soviet support was winning... Neither side fought by themselves... unless you are reading North Korea's version of history which is just fiction.
  8. And likewise without China and even with active Soviet support they still would have failed.... What are you trying to prove? NK had Soviet support SK had American support, NK was defeated even with Soviet support and needed over a million Chinese soldiers to keep their borders. You conveniently forget that both NK and SK had superpower support... difference being that the US was there as part of the UN while the USSR pretended they were not involved...
  9. Yeah the UN got involved and for the first and last time they did something right...
  10. All about Japan? Has is been all about Japan for the last two decades or is this another lesson of the history that never was?
  11. And they lost all on their own even with material and combat support from the USSR...and they want to give it another try against the US only they stayed in the 50's and 60's while SK and the US advanced in to the 21st century.
  12. Wow so sensitive... your entire post was basically the US is big and bad while China is the good old boys that look out for the little guy... I think calling it BS pretty much summarized what I thought of your opinion on this. I love how you are into censorship...someone calls you out on your bs you cry about it...keep up the good work reporting those who disagree with you and I will remember that I need to treat you as one of the special little people lest you go cry in the corner...
  13. North Korea is a threat only to South Korea, they are not a wild card they will go as far as China is willing to let them go...once China says stop they may huff and puff all they want but they will go back in their corner and sulk.
  14. Due to the help in large part of the USSR through equipment and training, the US got involved almost immediately and it would be one Korea if it weren't for the over one million chinese soldiers who went in to save the NK government. Yeah thats what happened... it couldn't be that NK felt that they can overrun the south and when the UN forces pushed them back and crushed them they had to intervene or they would be sharing a border with South Korea and a powerful American army next door. Money talks and in this case when NK's BS starts hurting China's finances or even threatens to do so with their actions they will step in and rein them in... Maybe because they know that NK is an impoverished little country that thinks its a big deal and they are getting tired of it... It goes both ways, you spew your BS which is propaganda of the BIG BAD US which is an aggressor and the angelic China that protected the innocent nation that was the target of American aggression... never mind that it was NK that launched a war and that it was the UN that intervened in that war. Both the USSR and China were actively involved from the beginning and only became more involved after the US led UN forces gave back NK's army in pieces.
  15. I don't think they have the ability to do much with the nukes they have, my view is that they can hurt South Korea because of their obsolete but extensive artillery which is deployed along the border. The US and SK won't have a problem taking it out but before they can the north can wreak havoc in highly populated areas. As for them being able to kill Americas...the US forces in South Korea are the only Americans in any real danger.
  16. And the best part: They are angry because the sanctions this time are aimed at the quality of life for the leadership... http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/story/2013/03/07/north-korea-un-security-council.html
  17. NK cannot do anything to the US, the only nation they can actually hurt is South Korea. They cannot reap up the armistice because they lost the last war and were saved only through the interference of the Chinese Army and I don't think China will bother helping them this time around. You have a very disgusting definition of awesome... is it your version of entertainment to see millions of people die in a matter of hours? What does it matter if aircraft are flying out of Trenton? I mean it is an RCAF base and aircraft lift off and land there on a regular basis which is kind of the point of it being an Air Force base.
  18. Can we afford to give up the capability to operate fighters and do a crash buildup in 20 years?
  19. Yes, quality and abilities... look at your arguments and tell me you have proven that any of the other aircraft are equal to or better than the F35...let me save you the trouble and tell you that you have proven nothing because you are arguing against the aircraft for political reasons rather than technical reasons. The one you subscribe to? The one that says the F35 is bad because the conservatives want it? Because the promises will be met simple due to the fact that this fighter will be the backbone of the US Air Force... when we are talking about the US replacing most of their frontline fighters with F35's we can safely assume that it will meet the requirements now and when it is upgraded at midlife. Because in Canada it has been "politically partisan inspired criticism"... the whole position of the opposition here is that the price tag went from 15 billion to 40 billion even though the price itself did not increase but rather the things counted in to the equation which shocking as it may seem doesn't happen to other aircraft that people suggest. waldo aren't you tired of loosing already? You get beaten with facts and you stick your fingers in your ears and hum to avoid admitting defeat... love your style of kindergarden argument...
  20. And the opposition will have a field day if the government announces we are buying an aircraft until we can get the F35's. This would just mean we will never get the F35's simply because people will point out that we got our new fighters and do not need others. Better keep our CF-18s so that there is at least some sense of urgency
  21. Right behind the MiGs but before the yachts...
  22. I have the same problem as scribblet where I get this error when replying to posts with smileys: An error occurredSorry, but you have posted more images than you are allowed to This to only one smiley in the post...
  23. That was the "discussion" about MPs learning to fly armed planes to save on the cost of the pilots and so forth...
  24. In this case more expensive adds nothing to the project but a higher bill. If the price had an effect on the safety of the building then by all means spend the extra money but since it does not the government should just hire an architect who can work around the "problem" instead of splurging on more expensive materials.
  25. I am not saying we were, my point is that putting all of our eggs with the F35 is a pretty safe bet because the US is purchasing the bulk of the F35s and this means if there are problems the solutions will be pretty quick... one could say almost Lightning fast...
