Am I to assume that you have evidence from MULTIPLE sources that would support your argument? I never said that all police officers were good, but the vast majority were. There is no point to argue here, all this rhetoric about Toronto Police proves to me that you are as well as a number of other members on this bored spoiled entitled people. End of the day is, Canadians have it pretty well compared to the rest of the world and many people try to find oppression anywhere weather it exists or not, more often then not, the oppression the find is just make believe. Its funny that in my years that I have had to deal with police I have never had a problem with any of them. The Toronto Police Service is an experienced and fair organization that protects the people of Toronto, but ultimately many people tend to abuse police through any means available until they require police assistance. What gives me satisfaction is the ignorant police bashing going on in many places would have happened one way or another. If the TPS had not taken the measures that they did take, then we could have had deaths and even more destruction at which point you people would have been accusing the police of not doing their jobs. I think the TPS was given a lose lose mission and they did the best they could with the limited resources that were available. Also saying that its obvious that what happened to the "protestors" seems arrogant of you as I expect you were not present and neither was I, but I would believe the police officer over the so called protestor.
-
It has to be free for everyone, just because you want to protest does not give you the right to disrupt hundreds or thousands of people lives because you want the right to protest. Asking for a permit, means that the police are there in order to ensure security, traffic is stopped in order to prevent accidents. Do you agree with the Tamils in 2009 when the closed off the Gardiner in the process of their protest? They disrupted one of the busiest east-west arteries of the city to protest, completely without care weather they were disrupting people's daily lives. I personally do not believe that the rights of the few should outweigh the rights of the many. You want to protest go right ahead get a permit and protest, but don't disrupt MY life and the lives of everyone else in the area because you want more exposure. As I have said, there is a right way to protest and a wrong way to protest, and most often the wrong way to protest diminishes the issues that the proper protestors are bringing forth.
-
Lets go back to all of those events and then some, and please tell me what is the common denominator in all of them? Same group of "demonstrators" same tactics and same accusations even though they are happening in different countries and continents. I am inclined to believe that the dozens of different police departments are not to blame but the people that are common in all those events are to blame. Thats not to say police are innocent 100% but the fact is, these"protestors" have learned that you can do pretty much anything you want when in a large group and get away with it, and if you were arrested cry police brutality and you get off.
-
Please don't argue with me if you cannot be bothered to read AND understand my comments. I never said that they should grab protesters at random, I said they should detain people who they deem to be a reasonable chance of committing a crime. I support the protestors, when they are following the rules and do so in a peaceful manner...but then again why am I arguing with you? It seems to me that you are a spoiled little brat who has probably never held a job in his life. I don't agree with violence in protest, not in Canada anyway. In many countries where the right to protest is taken away violence might be the only way, but in Canada where the rules have been set forth there is no excuse whatsoever for violence. Ultimately this pieces of garbage were detrimental to the entire protest, because while the legitimate protesters did as they were supposed to and protested, the animal were out in force destroying and diverting attention and removing legitimacy from the ACTUAL protestor. I believe in the rule of law, to me its a simple concept. There are rules and everyone has to follow them, If people do not follow them or it is blatantly obvious that they intent to break them then they should be arrested/detained and/or their efforts should be thwarted. This falls in the same category with those pieces of garbage from Vancouver that rioted after the game last year. Its time to stop pandering to these idiots and start cracking down. Every G20 summit the legitimate protesters are virtually ignored because all of the attention is focused on the animals looting and damaging the property of hard working people, I find it hard to believe that there is mass police brutality every time there is a G20 summit, mainly because they are sometimes in different continents and the only common factor is the protestors themselves. Argue all you want, but the majority of the people that took damage to their property were not the big business they had issues with but were small private stores and businesses.

Why conservatives want tougher laws and less immigration
Signals.Cpl replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
How would one distinguish Canadians of Convenience from say someone who immigrates to Canada, stays 5-6 years and gets a job with a Canadian Company to be a representative in their home country for example. What Canada needs is an easy way to remove people who obviously don't want to be Canadians. For example people like the Khadr family most of whom had in one way or another fought against Canada and our allies, and when one of their sons was paralyzed in Pakistan while in a terrorist safe house they decide to bring him to Canada so he can get health care. Honestly if you want quality immigrants fine improve the standards, there are enough qualified immigrants to meet the criteria. But also make a way to throw away the garbage, make a point that a Canadian Passport does not guarantee sating in Canada if an immigrant/refugee decides to live a life of crime. -
There is something seriously wrong with the premise of your argument. The Liberal government told them this is the law, enforce it. Police officers doing their job enforce the LAW. No see police go in, and infiltrate this groups as a means of finding the leaders and arresting the perpetrators before they can do something. Just because I think the police were doing a job and were justified in their actions does not make me ignorant. I just wish that the government had given them more leeway in preventing and failing that stoping the animals from running free. I think it comes down to the fact that it was the governments fault that they decided to have this event in a major city and tie the hands of the police. There were pictures of the police "abusing" protestors and video too, funny thing though it starts after the initial spark thus it leaves out the most important part the why. I can go to an officer, punch him in the face, and have a friend of mine video tape the response at which point I will go to the media and complain about police brutality there was justified force in an effort to accomplish their job yet due to the propaganda I present it comes out that the police are at fault. I personaly don't believe that the TPS should have been put in that position, the G20 should have been in a much more remote location where the Military and Police could secure it without having many issues with this lowlife pisses of garbage but the government did not do that and therefore the TPS was put in the unenviable position that they were in. Huff and puff all you want but if you or someone close to you had been injured or killed because of a protestor, you would be singing a whole new tune about how the police did not do their job.
-
And if they had arrested hundreds more, maybe there wouldn't have been a problem. You are saying the the police were oppressive to those animals, yet you don't condemn those animals for what they did. I believe that there was some irregularities with the arrests, but in the majority of them I personally believe they were justified in detaining them. For example going to the G20 with a gas mask on you probably would not make you a peaceful protestor, honestly how many of the protestors in the G20 had their rights taken away? By this I mean the legitimate protestors who followed the rules set out before the summit and protested peacefully.
-
If you are stupid enough to poke yourself in the eye, are you going to blame the pen for being brutal? If an idiot was to do something illegal, police arrive to arrest him for breaking the law, that same idiot fights the police I would say he deserves what he gets. At the end of the day the G20 was a disaster mainly because the police had unrealistic restrictions and those animals damaged our city, if anything I believe police were too tame and not aggressive enough.
-
That argument is bullshit, you cannot argue that the mass arrests were no justified. I think the mass arrests were no enough as was evident by the actions of the animals during the G20. There is a right way to protest and there is a wrong way to protest and the G20 were split in the middle. There was a group of protesters that were within their rights, and the other group, the animals that should not be allowed to live in a civilized society. You can say that the Toronto police service arrested over 1000 people and charged only a couple of hundred, and it would prove a point until you go to the events in question and view the chaos. The police did the best they could with their hands tied behind their backs, I hate little punks like you who probably have never held an honest job in their lives who bad mouth the police who routinely put themselves in risky situations to keep the rest of us safe. Sure there are bad cops, but they are a very small minority and painting the entire police department of Toronto or any other city as being brutal and corrupt is ignorant and idiotic. I would suggest you go on a tour around the world in say Syria, or Iran, try China and see what REAL police brutality is and you will see that the Western World has intelligent hardworking fair police officers and are not even remotely oppressive.
-
See that sounds like good old "waa waa poor me". Cops do not go an arrest people for no reason, and resisting arrest is resisting arrest. People like you do stupid things that get them at odds with the law, when the police arrive they try to fight back, lose and then cry in the media about police brutality. If those idiots weren't doing something wrong, the police will have no reason to arrest them. If they complied with police they would not get hurt, I honestly believe in the overwhelming majority of these cases this retards cause a problem, get arrested and hurt because they are resisting arrest and then complain in the media.

I don't know, what about it? I haven't dealt with US soldiers in a couple of years so I don't know what new uniforms they have.
-
Maybe I am making an assumption, but every time I have seen US soldiers on base, and they were either wearing ACU's or Desert Camouflage. Maybe its new, or another kind of uniform but it does not look like a dedicated desert uniform.
-
Ive seen american desert Cammo and that was not it.
-
I don't know how effective that will be as they would probably be swamped.
-
Seeing as the Americans were not wearing desert camouflage I don't see your point.

What is the overall goal in unifying a nation that cannot sustain much more pressure due to their economic situation? I mean it would be fine if the whole country was behind the leadership but would it do anything? Unless the coveted arab support brings them cash they will not be able to sustain their nuclear program.

New poll shows NDP tied with conservatives
Signals.Cpl replied to WWWTT's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I'm sorry, can you point to the part of the treaty where Quebec is given special treatment? And by special treatment I don't mean allowing it to practice their religion, increasing the size of their province and giving them leeway when it comes to their culture and law system. It does not state anywhere that should Quebec become part of a union with other colonies, it will get treatment above and beyond what the rest of the colonies of said union would receive. And when did I ever bring religion in to this? Don't throw "evidence" that proves something I never argued for or against. The fact is that the Quebec Act guarantees nothing but the bare minimum, The right to continue practicing their religion, the right to continue using their civil law's, increase their boundaries, and the right to have Catholics run for public office ins Quebec. Im pretty sure that the Quebec Act is pretty irrelevant at this point in time as everyone has the right to practice their own religion, everyone has the right to run for public office, nobody is arguing to cut the territory of Quebec down so thats out, neither are we arguing to change their civil law, so again that is also out. -
Obamacare VS The Constitution

4 Navy Minesweepers on it's way to Persian Gulf
Signals.Cpl replied to stopstaaron's topic in The Rest of the World
I don't know about that, I don't see Iran going any further mainly as their economy was weak to begin with and is now completely in the crapper, so sooner or later they will go to the negotiating table to avoid complete economic collapse and forces political change. And so what if the SK, US and Japan shoot down the missile? I'm willing to bet that if the US shot down the missile NK will huff and puff but will not be able to to do anything because they are trying to extract aid from the west and the best way is show of force, but if they are called out NK will back down. Russia vs US, nothing new its been going on for 60, even after the Soviet Union collapsed Russia was still a major power thus they do some sabre rattling once in a while and the US will eventually back down. I honestly hope someone acts to stop the slaughter on Syria. And Britain and Argentina: Nothing new here, they have had the same problem for over a century and the situation in both countries is so different that nothing will happen. In 1982 Argentina was somewhat of an outcast and had nothing to lose, but everything to gain by distracting their people from internal problems, now it is much different as they are militarily weaker and have much more to lose. -
Tory MP tells high schoolers they should carry guns
Signals.Cpl replied to stopstaaron's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The way I see it, the evidence provided states that the "what if" scenarios that the minister said were promoting vigilantism and then the evidence goes to mention the "frightening" scenarios of robberies and rape as being those what ifs. Quotes from the "source": "What most bothered her were the "what if" scenarios that, in her view promoted vigilantism" "Breitkreuz should have known better than to describe violent and frightening scenarios - such as robberies and rapes - to an audience of impressionable children, Sakisheway said." -
Tory MP tells high schoolers they should carry guns
Signals.Cpl replied to stopstaaron's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
So you are saying if a girl is being raped and she fights back with any means at her disposal she is a vigilante? Or if someone in a rural area defends his home and family from criminals who illegally enter his property is also a vigilante? Im sorry but the "what if" scenarios he supposedly presented might have been taken a little out of context. I personally don't believe that we should have the same freedom with fire arms as the US has but that is my own opinion, because ultimately it is not guns that kill people but people with guns kill people. The Idea to label anyone who fights back with any sort of weapon a vigilante is ludicrous, I believe that kids should be tought weapon safety at an early age, and show them the truth about fire arms, and change the culture associated with them. Right now how many kids have seen war movies and played combat games and don't understand the gravity of using a firearm? Many don't think its a big deal to play with firearms because of the cultural impact that firearms have had on society through media. -
New poll shows NDP tied with conservatives
Signals.Cpl replied to WWWTT's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Separation is not dead because Quebec still holds Canada hostage with demands for special treatment and more power then any one other province. If you want Quebec in with the rest of Canada, give them 2 options: 1) Be an equal partner in Canada, just like every other province. 2) Get out. Should they want to separate at that point kindly let them, within 5 years they will be ruined and begging to be part of Canada.Honestly, I don't believe that most people in Quebec have even thought out all of the ramifications of separation if they were to go through with it, and the fact that people hold the belief that should Quebec separate they can still retain all of the good parts of being Canadian while rejecting all of the parts they view as negative. I say give them an ultimatum join the 21st century and Canada, or get out and make sure to outline what they will lose in the process and what they will gain. Once they see that the cons far outweigh the pros all of this nonsense about separation will be long forgotten except by the die hard supporters, but in reality they would be nowhere near the 50% required.
