Weather Canada was a colony or an independant nation, the fact remains that with the population difference and the fact that the US at that point had a very powerful army with combat experiance meant that independant or not, England would fight if the US invaded. And the US did not invade in part because the Royal Navy was still the most powerfull in the world.

Iranian Nuclear Threat - Real or Not?
Signals.Cpl replied to Hudson Jones's topic in The Rest of the World
The Soviet Union managed to survive the crucial year of 1941 with minimal assistance from the west. And I realise that the US supplied the allies with alot of war materials, but my experiance is generaly it is viewed by Americans as the US saving the world. The Soviet Union did recieve alot of help but ultimately that help made the war easier and faster, but the war in the East would have turned out the same result. World War two was a combined effort and every nation deserves equal credit, because in some cases the smaller nations gave disproportionate commitment to the war effort. -

Yes, England, France, and the US do rate way ahead of Germany in Invasions and wars started, but Germany takes the cake when it comes to Genocides. And Also I do agree that the allies were just as guilty if not more so in starting World War one, but the reason why World War Two started was because everyone felt guilty about the treatment England and France dished out after the war so they let things slide for Germany until it was too late. -

Britain has 1 Carrier and one assault carrier, no Harriers, and Im pretty sure the US needs little help in the Nuke department. And ultimately, the Canadian Forces have proven that no matter what kind of shortfalls they may face, the CF can play with the big boys, and punch above its weight class. -
Iranian Nuclear Threat - Real or Not?

The Soviet Union and their 26,000,000 dead? You know the same country that kept between 57%-75% of all German Forces from 1941-1944 tied down? One of the main reasons D-Day succeded. Also the Nation that is responsible for 4,800,000 Axis Casualties in the Eastern Front. If we play this game we can be here a long time, as the US did not win the war for anyone, if the Soviet Union had made separate peace or lost the war the outcome would be different no matter American Involvement. If Greece had been defeated by Italy in the first place, Germany might have launched their Invasion on schedual thus the war gets different outcome. Many Nations played a role in the defeat of the Axis in WW2, if you claim that the US was the main reason for the Allied victory, I would like to ask you, what would have happened to the Western Allies if they had had to face 150 German Division on the beaches of Normandy? If those divisions were avaiable for reinforcement? I would guess that the Invasion would have been short lived to say the least. -

Well Hitler said he will conquer his nighbours and he did that. Iran said they will destroy Israel, I think for everyone's sake we stop them before that happens. The smoking gun in this case will not be good for anyone -
Iranian Nuclear Threat - Real or Not?

To be fair, the US was involved to a degree before they decalred war. All through 1941 the US was escorting Allied Convoys in the Western Atlantic between Canada and Iceland. And then there were American ships damaged or sunk by German U-boats and the US destroyed a German weather station in Greenland. Officialy Pearl Harbour was the cause, unofficaly the fall of France, because once France fell and Britain seemed on the verge of collapse, the Atlantic Ocean did not seem that big anymore. The US wanted to stay out of the war but once the danger of both the French Fleet, and any Remnants of the RN that Germany Managed to take if they invaded the British became aparent the US knew they would be at war with the Axis at some point in the near future. -

The fact is that yes, all those wars were orchestrated by someone but the argument was that the wars were a means of jumpstarting the economy, and to me that is downright idiotic. Maeby historicaly a small war would have such an effect and the added bonus of distracting people from political mistakes, but of all thnings, the Western Europeans feared a General War so much that they would not wish to start one for the single reason of economic recovery. The Reason the US joined 3 years late in World War 1 could be attributed to the desire of the US to say out of European wars, but Germany decided to use unrestricted warfare by the use of submarines, thus they eroded the US desire to stay out and eventualy this was one of the main reasons for their entry in to the war. -

Israel has the right and the duty to its people to do everything possiable to assure their continual existance. Saying that Israel is an agressor is missing an important part of the equation. Israel has said they will act on their own should the world community fail in preventing Iran from getting their on Nuclear Weapons, thus the ball is in the court of Iran.If Iran stopped their research Israel would have no reason nor desire to attack Iran. -

Oh the US supported Iran with weapons too, rather unwillingly but they did. But to be fair, the US and EU are not asking for much, all they require is stop enriching and give inspectors 100% access to anything they need to see. The way things are now, words do not mean a thing when you take them in conjunction with Iran's words. To me, the situation could be fixed quciktime, if Iran just agreed to stop research on nukes. I am sure that the US and EU will be more then happy to resume trade, lift sanctions and guarantee freedom of Iran if they complied. But this will not happen because they are trying to build a nuke. -

Really? Then why did the US wait 2 whole years to join the fun? Why did the British, the French and the Polish sellout Czechoslovakia as a means in avoiding another war. If western europe was looking for another general war, they would have started one in 1938 when they could have beaten Germany. The French did not want war, because the last one was fought on their soil and Belgium soil. This would not be economicaly sound, and the British depended on overseas trade yet they ignored the German Naval buildup and the creation of the U-Boat Forces. -

Nobody wants a war, from my point of view, the US and EU are going to tighten sanctions, and feed the fire with the hope that Iranian people get tired, and liberate themselvs. This way US has its hands clean gets the job done at miminum price, and the Iranian people get to make a choice. Iranians as a nation do not hate Americans and vice versa, unfortunately for Iran, they have leadership that has managed to alienate the majority of the civilized world. War is not likely, but a revolt might be. -

I did not mean the US is unable in the sence that its military is unable to wage the war. What I meant was the US economy cannot sustain another occupation, and the American public will not be willing to go to war with Iran unless its a last resort. -
Iranian Nuclear Threat - Real or Not?
Signals.Cpl replied to Hudson Jones's topic in The Rest of the World
The argument is not weather or not to invade, the argument is weather or not to stand by Israel in the face of Iran's threats. If the allies, had interviened in 1936, and informer Hitler that Remilitarization of the Rhineland would not be acceptable under any and all circumstances, if the allies, had stood by Austria and guaranteed its existance and if they had protected rather then sold out Czechoslovakia the war would have been avoided. If they had acted properly during ANY of these events, World War 2 might have been a minor affair. I do not favour war in this case, mainly because by the best of estimates, the Iranians are years away from obtaining a working weapon, thus I think this is the perfect time to prevent this by attempting sanction and any and all other peacefull options at our disposal. War has been and will always be a last resort, a desperate decision to prevent something worse then war from happening, so please do not put words in my mouth, I favour strong action with military action on the table but as a last resort, I do not war until all other options are exausted. -

And yet Hitler had written what he wanted to do with Czechoslovakia 13 years prior to those events. I guess the human race is doomed to repeat the same mistakes. Also just a simple question, who here believes the US is willing and able to eneter in to another conflict with a country that has 2 and a half times the population of Iraq? -
Here is the thing, China has alot more buissness with the US and Western Europe then with Iran, they can huff and puff all they want, but at the end they will lodge a protest and move on.
-
I wish the Chinese good luck with that.

Is that how you prove your point? I post evidence, and since you can’t prove your point, you run to the corner to cry? How are my claims false? Has Iran ever said Death to Israel? Because no matter how you twist it, Iran has threatened Israel. But then again its likely I value life a lot more then you do, and I have the wish to see nuclear war averted, all you wish seems to protect little innocent Iran from the big bad Americans. Go hide in your corner; this is way above your mediocre capabilities.

Iranian Nuclear Threat - Real or Not?

At this point in time, no nation in the western world wants a war with Iran, least of all the Americans. This is not about going to war, this is about assurance from Iran that they will a) Not attack Israel, and stop all production and research in to nuclear weapons. In 2003 the US was activly seeking war, in 2011 the US is activly seeking to AVOID a war. I dont want a war, and I am sure the vast majority of people in the westworld want a peacefull resolution. The Iraq war put 4 trillion(4,000,000,000,000) dollars of debt on to the US as well as 4700 Coalition soldiers death and 32,000 wounded. -

The guy was an idiot, and didnt do his homework? Probably didnt know Obama was not at the White House. -
Death to Israel might be a slogan they have used for the last millions years, now the death to Israel and their insistance on getting nukes at the same time makes it a threat.
-
I agree, but what I understood from that was that you were implying it was due to their nuclear weapons and Iran is just trying to get some security. If I misunderstood this I would like to apologize to you.
