I wonder why? Responding to you is like talking to a wall because of your blatant anti-left and blind pro-right. Critical thinking is an important skill to carry throughout life... not dropping in your teens. In times like these we need an angry career soon to be ex-politician with no practical experience in anything rather than a polished and globally respected banker and proven business leader. Couldn't agree more...

No they haven't. Wonder if that has something to do with this national research project? It's either been the Pillow Guy or the guy who has little substance, is generally uncooperative, and has an affinity with slogans? A person can only take so much. If only there was more rebel news for the masses....people would appreciate him more. Good thing for Pierre he won't have to get beat too much longer.

Why no rebut.... don't you think the conservative farmers or fishermen cheered the tariff relief? What's the problem with a Chinese car? Volvo's, Polestars and Buick Enclaves are coming from there. If someone can buy a good electric vehicle for under $35K I'm guessing there will be a good market for them. I remember when my kids were young and every now and then when they made a statement on something I'd sometimes ask 'why'... their response from time to time similar to yours - 'because'. Not much of an answer.... Get over the Carney thing. If he ran for the CPC you'd hail him as the second coming of christ.

I wouldn't expect either of you three to understand but you'd figure the guy who wrote the op ed would... It's a $6B investment over 15 years with studies the will help drive solutions in productivity as policies, our economy, and the world evolves. The world changes and so do policies. You obviously do but have to ask...... Do you guys seriously think they're going to meet for 15 years then report back with recommendations??? 😂
-
How can they do that when it's not their money? Companies lined up last year to get their names added to lawsuits for tariff repayments if in fact Trump lost which he obviously did. Pritzker and Newsom told him yesterday invoices from their states are in the mail. You're going to have to find the money elsewhere. Done.
-
He has tried to make it work. You're obviously not paying attention... and you're certainly not in the lumber, steel or auto sectors that have been thrashed with job losses. Think maybe they have a right to 'lose their minds' over someone trying to decimate their livelihoods? Of course you don't think Carney cares much....you're politically bias. Fortunately ~70% of Canadian's think he's on the right track.

Trump is hands down and unequivocally the most obnoxious, belligerent and failure of a human being to ever grace the earth. I won't even comment on his strong points of being factually dumb as a stump and on the doorstep of senility.... The SCOTUS sides with a family-owned education company that has been in business for 110 years and the pathetic one calls them 'sleezebags'. Very presidential don't you think.... The only thing dumber than this guy are those that support him.

Your debt increased 2.25T last year under Trump and the US trade deficit is essentially the same despite what he tells you.. Bidens fault I take it?
-
Don't forget to mention the conservative canola farmers in AB, SK and MB who have cheered the deal, and can't forget about the conservative NS and NB lobster and crab fishermen who also cheered the deal. I'd also expect those in the market for an inexpensive electric vehicle to cheer it as well. Not a big revelation but your political bias is on full display in this thread. For what it's worth....you're failing spectacularly.

Not surpised... by all appearances and for how many years it's been he seems like a real person with real thoughts. Most in the means and scope we can't relate to but always on the humanity side of the coin. I admire guys like him.

There's no conspiracy's... that's just the narrative some need to hang onto in today's world. Who knows with anyone but... the richest guy in the world at the time decides he has brought his company to the point where enough was enough and chose another purpose in bettering peoples lives with the obscene money he accumulated. I can see how people like him are a real problem in society these days...
-
Come on Michael.... you can't let a persons words get in the way of another persons pre-programmed thoughts. I thought you knew better...
-
Seriously.... why embellish everything as a conspiracy and/or a total f' job to the world? You come across a pretty smart woman... Why do you laugh at Gates being a philantrophist? The guy has literally given $100 BILLION + to global health. education and climate initiatives and you have a problem with that? Curious to know why you think that's funny. And if you don't take this word for it, google it. Whatchya thinking... is this the grift of all grifts coming at us?
-
No, I clearly understand what he's saying as most logical people do. It's a simple matter of comprehending words. Of course, the worlds largest philanthropist is playing the ultimate grift on you right now... The $100B his foundation has given away in philanthropy is nothing more than a set-up to reel you and the rest of the world in before turning the tables and reaping the financial rewards that will ultimately bankrupt everyone for his benefit. Be careful out there if you dare go outside...
-
You don't appear to understand what he's saying, if you even read it... He said that while climate change is 'grave' the strategies and monies should be more allocated to where climate change is having the greatest impacts... food, shelter, and disease. That to your comment 'makes peoples lives better'.

The level of distrust and fictional conspiracy motives that you continually imply towards government and/or persons of success and wealth is truly remarkable... Rather than imagining another conspiracy and ulterior financial motives by the worlds largest philantrophist, try reading what Gates actually said. I've bolded some of his comments to help you focus on that to not get distracted; Climate change not a death sentence for humanity, Bill Gates says Oct. 28, 2025 10:58 AM ETMSFT, ERTH, QCLN, TAN, FAN, ICLN, GRIDBy: Sinchita Mitra, SA News Editor 5 Share Saved Play(4min) Comments (50) Microsoft (MSFT) co-founder Bill Gates argued that while global warming is grave, especially for people in the poorest countries, it is no longer a death sentence for humanity. Gates, in his blog published ahead of next month’s COP30 summit, said that the doomsday approach to climate issues is leading to a diversion of too many resources to emission goals rather than “improving lives” in a warming world. “Unfortunately, the doomsday outlook is causing much of the climate community to focus too much on near-term emissions goals, and it’s diverting resources from the most effective things we should be doing to improve life in a warming world. It’s not too late to adopt a different view and adjust our strategies for dealing with climate change,” Gates noted in the blog post. Gates added that even though climate change will hurt poor people more than anyone else, for a lot of them it will not be the only or even the biggest threat to their lives and welfare. “The biggest problems are poverty and disease, just as they always have been. Understanding this will let us focus our limited resources on interventions that will have the greatest impact for the most vulnerable people,” he said. Gates questions whether funds earmarked for climate are being allocated efficiently, arguing in the blog: “Is the money designated for climate being spent on the right things? I believe the answer is no.” “In short, climate change, disease, and poverty are all major problems. We should deal with them in proportion to the suffering they cause. And we should use data to maximize the impact of every action we take,” he said. Gates' latest views appeared more pragmatic than alarmist compared with earlier works such as his 2021 book How to Avoid a Climate Disaster, which framed the task as aiming for zero emissions to avoid a climate disaster. His comments come at a time when the U.S. political environment seems to be moving away from set goals of climate goals. Under Donald Trump the U.S. withdrew from the Paris Agreement and federal climate policy became more uncertain. Under the Paris Agreement, 195 parties decided that they would try and prevent global temperatures from rising by more than 1.5 degrees Celsius above levels seen in the pre-industrial period and that the increase in the global average temperature will be well below 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. However, Gates added that temperature might not be the best way to measure progress on climate. “The global temperature doesn’t tell us anything about the quality of people’s lives. If droughts kill your crops, can you still afford food? When there’s an extreme heat wave, can you go somewhere with air conditioning? When a flood causes a disease outbreak, can the local health clinic treat everyone who’s sick?” he said. In March, the Gates-founded group called Breakthrough Energy, which worked on reducing emissions, witnessed a layoff, and its policy arm was also slashed, according to a report by the New York Times. In February, the chief sustainability officer at Microsoft, Melanie Nakagawa, acknowledged that the moon has gotten further away when it came to their sustainability goals. In recent times, climate activists have been alarmed by the advent of artificial intelligence and the pursuit of data centers. However, Gates, in his blog, added that innovation is the way to curb climate change, adding it already has. “In the past 10 years, we’ve cut projected emissions by more than 40 percent,” he added. Thus, Gates urged that it was time to put human welfare at the center of the climate strategies, which will include slashing the green premium to zero and improving agriculture and health in poor countries. “So I urge that community, at COP30 and beyond, to make a strategic pivot: prioritize the things that have the greatest impact on human welfare. It’s the best way to ensure that everyone gets a chance to live a healthy and productive life no matter where they’re born and no matter what kind of climate they’re born into,” he said.

He has state governors, the auto sector, oil & gas companies, wine & spirits sector, and the hospitality industry barking at him but so far falling on deaf ears. September inflation data out the other day and up 0.3% for the month to 3%. All tariff impacts haven't flowed through the supply chains yet so that's only a matter of time before the yelling starts to get louder.
