  1. Yes, the show has been and will likely continue to be a liberal. I don't recall a lot of conversation about the critical urgency to diversify our trade away from the US though.... Hindsight is great and doubt if we'd had a conservative government anything would be different in regards to our trade with the US. Depending on which market you're in.... I live in Vancouver and SF home sales are down YOY. There is a want/need for more housing but developers/builders are not going to get active until the demand is there. I agree though.... we (and the US) are significantly lacking in housing availability.
  2. Not sure what you're trying to say.... We should have more diversified our trade more during Biden's term in case the Orange *sshole came back for another failed term? In hindsight, obviously so.... I don't recall the conservatives clamouring for this though....were they? How/why would you interpret what I said as there is no demand for new homes? The market is soft with a lot of inventory for sale....not breaking news. There is an excess of new condos on the market not selling....not breaking news. Prices will go back up as demand comes back.
  3. https://science.nasa.gov/climate-change/evidence/ Your serve.... Prove otherwise.
  4. No, I didn't mean that. An open fire was the cause of the Bayers Lake business park fire. They haven't said whether it was arson or not but suspect it could have been a homeless encampment.
  5. 😂 all over it.... You got 100% of the clean up though
  6. About as hilarious as you thinking I should pay for clean energy infrastructure that you'll inevitably be consuming. And, your question was "what clean up costs'. There you have them.
  7. Yes, obviously Canada is trying to lessen the dependance on the US but you don't wake up tomorrow and start shipping materials around the world without someone to sell it to. That takes time. Building activity will happen when there is a demand for it. The overall market is soft with developers are sitting on thousands of unsold new construction units....primarily Toronto and Vancouver condos. When the demand is there new homes will be built to meet that demand.
  8. Yes, we've also been through that 30 times. They're concerned with their citizens safety and well being and chose to do this. No, the province I live in hasn't done that but if they did you won't see me complaining about my loss of rights, or any fishing or hikes in the woods I wouldn't be able to do. Sorry but find it more comical than anything that people actually complain about this as if it's a life altering event....
  9. Really.... more fires, more flooding, more hurricanes, more extreme weather events cause damage and increase costs. Lives, homes, clean up and insurance. You're a US type guy.... read page 3 from Department of Defence to see costs they refer to https://www.sustainability.gov/pdfs/dod-2024-cap.pdf
  10. The Halifax fire was human caused. You can't fix stupid....and a lot of people are.
  11. FFS... yes, conventional energy/fossil fuels are required to build and power our world, and will be for many years to come. They help build clean energy infrastructure so our dependence on fossils fuels is less. Use your head man....
  12. So what...? They made a decision. If you feel that strongly that your government hasn't done the job then vote for another party in the next election. I'd have to think that the people who have lost homes or have been evacuated from their homes because of the fires could give a rats ass about whether the government is using a 'sledge hammer' approach or not.
  13. Refer to my earlier and last comment.... 'Try using your head every now and then'
  14. Interesting... Good business on their part (407 Int). You know the time/cost benefits by driving during rush hour so more likely to use during non rush hour times given the habit of driving and perceived value of money saved during rush hour commutes. The GTA is a different animal altogether because of the population but all major cities need to find ways to get cars off the road and into mass transit as that keeps evolving.
  15. There are different types of lumber and softwood lumber that is used in home/residential construction and various handyman Reno's or projects mainly comes from Canada...~25 - 30% of their consumption and ~80% of their imports. Otherwise they've have to look to Germany, Sweden or Brazil. The US is certainly our biggest customer and that's likely to never change given we're landlocked with them. We are though looking to expand more of this trade elsewhere which only benefits the industry. And yes, plan to help jump start housing was introduced earlier this week which obviously benefits the industry as more homes get built.
  16. The fool doesn't deal in details. He only knows politically bias rhetoric.
  17. It's been give or take 4 years since I travelled the GTA on business but know the 407 was a dream compared to the 401. Had to get a transponder in the rental car if I was on my own and even if I didn't expense, I'd have paid out of my own pocket for the time and convenience. I forget what the cost was or program you're referring to, but will you keep using and pay the toll if the program ends in November?
  18. I've been trying not to waste my time with same thing mentioned over and over, but you keep coming back to me with it. No I don't live in NB or NS but I have woods where I live. For the 30th time.... I can live without a walk in the woods for a period of time and will find somewhere else to walk. And as well for the 30th time I'm not that politically sensitive or anti-government that I think it's an infringement on my rights.
  19. Are you really this f*cking oblivious.... You haven't heard of wind, solar, nuclear, etc, etc as forms of clean energy and the investments in those areas? Yes, of course everyone with common sense should have built these forms of energy themselves in their back yards to be self-sufficient.... Try using your head every now and then.
  20. Yep, it's everyone else who can't think critically with heads buried up their partisan *sses, not you little man.... A sad and pathetic little man....
  21. I'm willing to do that, but you need to pay for the clean-up costs from the continued affects of climate change.
  22. Drill baby drill is nothing more than a Trump mantra. The US has lead to world in oil production the last 6 consecutive years. The US also isn't in the O&G business, companies are and they're accountable to board of directors, shareholders and their own p&l, not Trump. Again, difference of thought.... I'd rather pay more to see a cleaner world for my children and grandchildren. That's just my 2 cents.
  23. On-shoring is a pipe dream. US and based companies have moved on long ago as ~4% unemployment proves. The US doesn't have the energy infrastructure and labour pool to support, and most certainly doesn't have the consumer appetite to accept more inflation because of on-shoring. Not going to happen...
  24. America won't be doing without Canadian lumber, they have no other alternatives. The American builder and consumer is going to feel the pain here so just a matter of time before something mutually beneficial is worked out.
