Over fifty nations are contributing to Ukraine defence. In terms of security contribution as a percent of GDP, the US ranks tenth, behind Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Denmark Norway and the UK. They all understand that global stability is as stake. Now, if the US is only concerned with their own interests, then they need to understand the consequences of a Putin win. The world markets would be thrown into chaos. Huge impact on US interest. The war has had an outsized and destabilizing impact on Europe’s economy, impacting America’s economic interests given Europe remains one of our most trusted trading partners. With $1 trillion in annual U.S. trade with the continent, stable European markets are critical for the exports of American companies and workers with 1 in 5 U.S. jobs depending on international trade. Europe also remains America’s fifth largest market for agricultural exports from America’s heartland and beyond. https://www.usglc.org/the-importance-of-u-s-assistance-to-ukraine/

How many times do you need to be told to not believe Trump and Musk. They lie. Wasting money? Yeah, on things like providing oxygen to people who will die without it, providing food to starving people (currently, there’s $500 million worth of food that could go to waste because of the USAID pause), programs for nutrition, hygiene, toilets and access to clean water (which have a massive impact on TB and diarrheal diseases), TB clinics, HIV care, treatment and prevention to vulnerable children, international clinical drug trials … the list goes on and on. But you go on there! You own the Libs, while people die. It’s worth noting that the US is not the biggest giver to foreign aid as a percent of Gross National Income: Norway = 1.09% Sweden = 0.91% Germany = 0.79% Denmark = 0.74% UK = 0.58% France = 0.5% Canada = 0.38% US = 0.24%

Immigration is a federal matter. Only the federal government has to enforce immigration laws. I think the NY governor has it right: "We expect Pam Bondi's worthless, publicity-driven lawsuit to be a total failure, just like all the others. Let me be clear: New York is not backing down," Hochul said.

“Cutting government spending” is such an abstract concept that does not make plain what really is at risk. What are the concrete effects of Trump’s and Musk’s vandalism on USAID? People are dying because funding for their oxygen has been cut off Nearly $500 million in food could go to waste Global health will be severely affected: Programs for nutrition, hygiene, toilets and access to clean water (which have a massive impact on TB and diarrheal diseases) have been impacted TB clinics have been put at risk HIV care, treatment and prevention to vulnerable children, have been suspended Crucial international clinical drug trials have their funds frozen It will take a massive, concentrated effort to repair the damage done to the US global reputation. Yes, China and Russia are watching.

You need to understand the difference between being transgender and suffering from gender dysphoria. Being transgender means that the sex of your brain does not match with the sex of your body. Gender dysphoria is the psychological distress which results from having your gender not aligned with your sex assigned at birth. The treatment is gender-affirming care.

He needed a pardon to protect himself from the nefarious and dishonest attacks of Trump. Gosh, you really live in a delusional bubble, don't you? Then any opinion you have of it is invalid. Your understanding of the situation ranks right up with fish understanding trees. -

I don't think the American people knew what they were voting for. The overreach of the Executive branch at the current moment will go down in history books as the cementing of autocracy in America. -

Trump supporters make such a perversion of reality in their desperation to support their dear leader and join in his hatred. They don't realize they are being used. They don't realize they are victims of propaganda. All they realize is that they have been given an enemy, and that alone feeds their primal needs. Did you read it? -

No. -
No, it is a continuum, a spectrum, with individuals that do not fit into the binary. Actually, there is. First of all, scientists have known for decades that human brains are dimorphic (either male or female) - and now there has been great research done with AI targeting specific differences in brain structures in males and females AI Targets Location Where Female and Male Brains Differ And further studies and research - support to the notion that the underlying brain anatomy in transgender people is shifted away from their biological sex towards their gender identity. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8955456/ The brain develops under the influence of not only genes, but hormones, too.

Trump and Musk really depend upon their cheerleaders believing this "stupid shit" You don't understand yet? Any money they save will not be spent on the average American citizen. It will be used to fund tax cuts for the rich. They will yell "waste and fraud" about anything and everything and the sheep will lap it up. Military, schools and roads? Here's the scoop: Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency team will be taking a close look at Pentagon spending to search for potential waste and fraud, President Donald Trump said Friday. https://defensescoop.com/2025/02/07/trump-directs-elon-musk-doge-review-pentagon-dod-spending/ The Trump administration is exploring dramatic cuts to programs and staff at the U.S. Department of Education, including executive action shuttering department programs that are not protected by law and calling on Congress to close the department entirely. https://www.npr.org/2025/02/03/nx-s1-5282233/trump-to-make-big-cuts-to-education-department The White House on Tuesday issued a memorandum clarifying the Inflation Reduction Act and Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, also known as the bipartisan infrastructure law, funding disbursement freeze. https://www.wastedive.com/news/president-trump-inflation-reduction-act-executive-order-ev-mandate/738002/ -

That's just silly. Of course no-one likes waste. But if you think that is his purpose, you are mistaken. And, no, not because of who he is. No unelected demagogue should get his grubby paws on the US Treasury. It's illegal and unethical, and it's going to cause a lot of pain. -

Oh, I see, so you would like an unelected demagogue to have access to Medicare and Social Security payments and all other programs of the American government. Hell with Congress. It seems the fears about the death of democracy were not overstated. -

Right back atcha. Science proceeds on the basis of evidence, not belief. -

Nope. I meant what I said. You practice psychological manipulation, but sorry it doesn't work on me. See what I mean? Thank you. I think laughter is our greatest gift. I'm tossing you another nickel. -

Holy gaslighting. Lol. I know what I said. You clearly do not. Is this gonna cost me five more cents? Why re-invent the wheel? The words fit. -

Radiorum replied to Deluge's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
We don't use the word "belief" in science. Science does not require faith, but evidence. So, for example, it would be wrong to say you believe or you don't believe in the theory of evolution. You'd say, that a scientific hypothesis/theory is accepted or rejected, depending on the evidence there is to support it. -

I never went into a tailspin. I never had a meltdown. I never professed a "belief that physical sexual organs are a result of brain activity." Nothing remotely like that. But if that if how you understood my plain English, that explains a lot. Furthermore, I did not present a belief, but scientific information. “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye. Um, she said America won the Cold War, defeated communism, and defended democracy, not her.
