Senate Votes to Overturn Canada's Tariffs
gatomontes99 replied to robosmith's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
You never get past surface level understanding, do you? "The power to impose tariffs has been delegated to the President through several laws, notably the Trade Expansion Act of 1962, which allows the President to impose tariffs for national security reasons. Additionally, the Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) has historically enabled the President to negotiate trade agreements and adjust tariffs without further congressional approval." https://www.congress.gov/crs-product/R48435 https://yeutter-institute.unl.edu/who-has-authority-impose-tariffs-and-how-does-affect-international-trade/ -
I must preface this with THIS IS UNVERIFIED. *********** November 8, 2025 – Sources confirm a former Capitol Police officer is a forensic match for Jan. 6 pipe bomber A forensic analysis of a female former U.S. Capitol Police officer’s gait is a 94%-98% match to the unique stride of the long-sought Jan. 6 pipe-bomb suspect, according to a Blaze News investigation confirmed by several intelligence sources. CIA spokeswoman Liz Lyons stated that the subject worked in campus security. *********** If...IF...this is true, think of the implications. The officer plants fake bombs and then gets hired by the CIA for a security job. You don't have to be prone to conspiracy theories to start filling in the blanks on that.

I agree with this decision: CNN: Supreme Court declines to revisit landmark same-sex marriage precedent The woman might be against gay marriage and she might say it is against her religion. However, she worked for the state. The state laws required the issuance of a marriage certificate and she did not follow the law. That is on her. If she was unable to issue the certificate, she either needed to quit or let someone else do it. She does not get to change/ignore the law just because she does not like it.

Democrats lose and cave: *********** AP: What’s in the legislation to end the federal government shutdown What’s in and out of the bipartisan deal drew sharp criticism and leaves few senators fully satisfied. The legislation provides funding to reopen the government, including for SNAP food aid and other programs, while also ensuring backpay for furloughed federal workers the Trump administration had left in doubt. But notably lacking is any clear resolution to expiring health care subsidies that Democrats have been fighting for as millions of Americans stare down rising insurance premiums. That debate was pushed off for a vote next month, weeks before the subsidies are set to expire. **********

This is what comes from race wars. Race wars aren't just anti-race. Race wars include celebrating specific races. We need to treat skin color like hair or eye color. -

The cost of American Isolationism
gatomontes99 replied to paxamericana's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Good gawd man! The US isnt some God that can dictate everyone's behavior nor is Europe, or the rest of the world so inept that they can't respond. Plus, there is no American isolationism. We bombed the shit out of Iran when they went to far and we are negotiating and ending wars/conflicts/disagreements all over the place. The premise of your argument is bunk. -

Yes he does. He offered and they denied. But it is good to know you think he has the authority to use the NG any time he wants. I suppose you now oppose the judge that said Trump can't send the NG to Portland? -

I thought you were ignoring me because you couldn't handle debating me? Yeah. Because Pelosi and Schumer taught him that they are working against him so he shouldnt trust any democrat. This 2nd term is a reaction to Democrat behavior and not a continuance of his. -

Yes, AI still uses binary coding. You say "science" like it is some unimpeachable source. Science is a constantly evolving continuum of understanding. As new data is gathered, the understanding changes. You use the word as if it is static and perfect. It is anything but static and perfect. Further, you use the word as if the mere presence of the word ends debate. But the true application of the scientific method requires disbelief in what is known in order to expand on what is true. Your use of the word, here, indicates you have zero interest in discovering new data that would expand your knowledge and change your punderstanding. Therefore, your use of the word science is both hypocritical and wrong. AI is not science. It is opinions wrapped in the costume of a reliable, unbiased source. -

Dude, there is a chance I make more every month than you do in a year. Almost 95% chance I make more in 3 months than you do in a year and 99% chance I paid more in taxes than you make in a year. Yes, I am getting paid. No, I don't work for the government. -

I don't know who told you that, but it simply is not true. AI requires mountains of code just to create the speech patterns and logic behavior. Once all the aspects of the AI platform are coded (aka programmed) the AI platform is fed data in a process that is called training. While you think AI is some eutopian data oasis, the reality is that AI is only as accurate as the coding and data. Having lind faith in it is dangerous.
