Communism was a thing since Ancient Greece. Karl Marx just popularized communism on a global level. Yeah, because by that point, society had capitalism. Under feudalism, wealth didn't mean as much to the aristocracy because their place at the top was set in stone. When society transitioned into a capitalist democracy, the Right needed a new way to maintain the hierarchy. This is why liberals are so much more willing to use elements of socialism. To liberals, capitalism is the best system for society. To conservatives, capitalism is just a means to maintain hierarchy until they're able to eliminate democracy. So it's still absolutely about power. ? If only the Democrats really were far-left radical socialists, like the Republicans keep telling us. I agree, but we also have to accept that this just isn't going to happen until wealth is more evenly distributed throughout society. The upper-class is above the law because they control which laws are enforced against which people. The more evenly wealth is distributed, the more power the average person has to hold the people in power accountable for corruption.

In the past few years they adopted the anti-trans insanity, but that's also fear-based. Seriously, try to find some East Germans who vote for the AfD for reasons other than their anti-immigration stance. Show me examples of AOC calling for violence. The reason you can't name any mainstream leftists or liberals who call for violence is because they don't. They know that if they did, they would lose support. However, because the Right is full of violent psychopaths, Republicans like Matt Gaetz and Marjorie Greene can call for violence and still be two of the most popular Republicans.

Yes and no. Back then, the left-wing included socialists, communists, and liberals. Today, the Left is anyone who is democratic and anti-capitalist, whereas liberals are democratic capitalists. But when it comes to the Right, they never really stopped being anti-democracy. The conservative movement was about maintaining the classist hierarchy of the monarchy within the democratic framework. Conservatism was founded by people who saw democracy as restricting and were looking to basically have authoritarian hierarchy within democratic society. That's why it's so easy for a conservative to become a fascist. They see democracy as a roadblock.

Also, how do we even go about insuring people follow the rules? Does everyone have to get their privates checked before using the bathroom? This is pretty much already how things work. Changing it would require pretty totalitarian laws. It's also worth mentioning that there are plenty of places that let people use the bathrooms they want as well as places that have unisex bathrooms. In both cases, this hasn't led to an increase in violence and most people are fine with it. So not only would this require draconian laws, but they would be draconian laws to a problem that does not exist.

The term actually refers to conserving values, which they still use in their propaganda. You know, conserving the "traditional family" and all that nonsense. But the movement's origins were really a negative reaction to democracy during the French Revolution.

Like I said, East Germans vote for the anti-immigration politicians, despite the vast majority of immigrants living in West Germany. And it's the same thing in America. The right-wing propaganda works much better in rural areas because the people there are less likely to have met a trans or gay person. Name some mainstream leftists or even liberals who talk that way. The only politicians and pundits who call for violence are on the Right. And because conservatives have a victim-complex, they pretend that their violence is defensive. It was the exact same strategy nazis, fascists, and tankies used in the 20th century.

You're actually demonstrating how group identity isn't always that simple. There actually are black people who were born and raised in Japan. There are black people with recent Japanese ancestry. Some of these black people actually do identify as Japanese. But ok, let's say it's a black guy who identifies as white. The categories of "black" and "white" are defined solely by looks. It doesn't matter that Obama has Irish ancestry when it comes to society seeing him as black, because blackness is about looks, not ancestry or ethnicity. Gender is different because gender is not defined socially by looks or genetics. Gender is solely defined by self-identity. Yes, we agree that sex is based on biology. I'm saying gender is not. No. However, if we're going by appearance, then it makes more sense to let people use the locker rooms based on self-identity because trans people usually look as the gender the identify as. And if you're going to say that people who "pass" are the exception, then what you're saying is we should be going purely by appearance. Butch chicks should socially count as men. Basically, however you slice it, self-identity has the most utility when it comes to gender.

That doesn't really have much utility. "Woman" is a social category, but in everyday life, we can't give everyone we meet a DNA test. Should everyone have to take a DNA test to use a public locker room? Plus, what you're describing is just the "female" sex category. And even that isn't always clear-cut, since lots of females don't have the XX. Sure. White women and black women are also different, but they're both still women. Why should trans women not be recognized as women, just because they transitioned? That's why we have words like trans and cis. When it comes to things like trans women in cis women's sports, I think there's a good faith conversation to be had there. But it doesn't mean we can't recognize trans women as a type of women.

Yes, nobody is saying there should be a law defining how you see people. You can see people of different races as sub-humans if you want. However, in certain situations, you can't legally discriminate against them, even if you see them as sub-human. The difference there is that race is defined by looks, gender isn't. Looks, biology, culture, and self-identity all play roles to varying degrees in both race and gender. The whole topic of groups and identity isn't that simple. But in short, the defining feature of race is looks. The defining feature of gender is self-identity. The trans man I showed you, Buck Angel, has female genitalia. So he should be allowed in the women's changing room? I think the whole division by gender is stupid, but if it must happen, it seems like it makes way more sense to go by gender, not sex. Then what does?
